Thanks for posting this - it brought back some memories. The Sunday charter train was Hertfordshire Railtours' "The Wensleydale Ranger"; earlier in the day it was top-and-tailed by the 20s (20169 + 20092) and the 47 for the York - Redmire - Thornaby leg of the tour.

Thanks for the info....that explains the 20s heading back light engine then.....I know they were being used on steel trains around this time, between the North East and Scunthorpe, as there was extra steel traffic to be moved.

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus I'm pretty certain you capture 20169 on another charter in one of your videos.

Classic video! Be careful where you film though.

I didn't do well with 31s in 1992. Blew an opportunity at Barnetby but got three at Saltley. Not bad. Who have thought all thisd be just a memory today?

I'm guessing it went back light to Thornaby. The actual tour went onto the NYMR with the 31 and worked a trip on there (see it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/anTCaneAmsiiadE). It used the NYMR loco to get back on to BR tracks and then went back Up road with the 31. There is a gap of a few hours between the trains seen at Grosmont.....

I presume that was where and when it was named. When it was at the back of the train, its nameplates were taped over. When it was leading, you could see the tape had been removed.
