1997 when the whole game changed and travelling by train became a nightmare.

Drivers certainly seemed to like revving the nuts of those 153's at the beginning. Excellent stuff Soi as always.

Nathan I used to drive them in Bristol area for a few years. When they were 155's they were ok ,but when they decided to split the sets to form the 153's it was a different story. The brake release was slow when starting away so some drivers used lots of power to get them moving ! They were hard work if the timetable was tight on time. I moved on to other things and was glad to see the back of them ! Nice to look back on those times now . 👍

@@TheMikep25 thanks for the intersting info Mike 👍 funnily enough I have some drivers notes somewhere for the 153 with a letter from Regional Railways, dated 5th August 1994 mentioning due to a resulting incident, a special check had been carried out on certain components of the 153s braking system.

Nathan That rings a bell .If I remember correctly one ran away somewhere so when we shut the engine down and stabled it we had to put the parking brake on ! That made them even harder to work with !

58,s 56,a 47,s on MGR,s saw them so many times thought they be around for ever,how wrong was l. Ahh For those days again!!

And Sheffield station looks pretty much the same today. No chance of seeing a Shark on a rake of Sealion and Seacows today of course but a 37 went through light engine on Sunday.

Sadly i have never really videod here much. Although i have spent a lot of time drinking in Sheffield's wonderfull real ale pubs! I wonder how many of those won't re-open after the lockdown?......

We may have been in the same pub at the same time lol. There is a big demand for real pubs in Sheffield, we should be ok with places to sup proper ale after lock down. We have to wait and find out.

Sure is an epic boozer, unique atmosphere too. Difficult for me to get to it too often due to the location in relation to my home but I enjoy every hour I get to spend there.
