British School uniform explained!

Do all the schools in Britain have uniforms ? I might move to England but i'm not used to uniforms and I would like to know if any schools allow us to choose what we wear.

hi there, most do. it is very unusual to find a school with no uniform policy at all.You get used to it! good luck

My school final 2 years we still had to wear the school uniform. We also was not allowed to undo shirt or loosen tie. We do have rule that if we still in uniform outside school it must be smart at all times. However we have been changing from shirt and ties with blazer to polo shirts recently. My opinion ov uniform is I like feeling smart and proud representing my school. Do you think secondary school uniform should be ties and blazers or should it be relaxed at all or is polo shirts okay

Wow! So different from my country. I wish i had uniform for school. Are school strict on it? Are there any rules about make up, jewellery, hair? :)

Hi Lea, it depends on the school, but many will have rules about hair and make up, ( no make up , or very discreet usually). They usually don't allow unnaturally dyed hair like pink or green, or ' extreme' styles like full shaved head or Mohawks etc. Usually only minimal simple jewellery is allowed, no hoop or dangly earrings, which is usually for health and safety reasons. Where are you from?

I am from Czech republic :). Souns strict but I think it is better than some students at my school who wear lots of make up. Hwo students there deal with such strict rules? Btw are students there also required to change school when they come to school?
