It's funny I just had this realization - if I'm watching a reaction video of a director's cut and I don't watch it all the way through, I find myself skipping those exact parts. Like here I just felt the temptation to skip over some of the facility stuff because exposition doesn't bring a big reaction typically. It's almost like the theatrical cut people were planning out the most reaction-worthy scenes lmao.

I've always preferred the original cut. All the exposition you need is already there if you're paying attention. It's a much tighter edit and makes for a better movie. The director's cut is great for rewatching nerds like us, but I disagree with the first watch sentiment. (To be fair, I'm probably dogmatic about that)

Sigourney's delivery of 'Get away from her you BITCH' is so iconic. It feels straight from the heart. And Ripley is one of the greatest action heroes of all time. Resourceful, brave, smart, but also vulnerable and motherly. She's not written as a "man's role" and played by a woman. She's the quintessential female protagonist.

Somebody was feeling sassy in the intro. 😊 The young actress who played Newt is Carrie Henn. And this is her one and only acting role. She was living in England when she got this role and after the movie came out her family moved back to the States. She just wasn't interested in acting anymore. I saw something awhile back that she had become a teacher.

The Camel Spiders in Iraq always reminded me of Face Huggers when they ran. Camel Spiders are huge-6-8 inches and fast-10mph and they are aggressive AF. They have that same yellow-tan color as the Face Huggers. They really are mean as shxt too. I actually saw a Camel Spider chase a dog once. The spider sprang out of the sand and bull rushed the dog. The dog yelped and took off the other direction. To this day seeing a giant spider chase a 40lb dog is up there for craziest things I've ever seen.

On a sidenote, there's actually very few director cuts that are better than the theatrical version. There is a list online of the top 10 Director cuts, but even many directors will tell you to watch the theatrical version first before directors cut. There's a reason why a lot of the scenes aren't in the movie besides runtime. It drags the movie along. Director cuts are more to show scenes that meant a lot to the directors, but didn't do much for the movie in the long run.

You noticed early in the film after Ripley's interrogation by the Company that Ripley was smoking a cigarette. That detail was shown specifically to justify the reason later on of her having a lighter on her which she used to activate the Sprinkler system to help her escape from the locked Medical Bay. A similar early scene was done in Die Hard 2 (1992) when it showed the protagonist smoking a cigarette and then later using his lighter in the final act.

When I saw this in the theater (opening weekend, lol) the face huggers scrabbling across the deck in the infirmary stalking Ripley and Newt just twanged me. Not the huggers per-se, but the sound of their claws. By far the scariest part of the film to me.

I loved the reaction. Here are a few of fun facts about this fantastic movie. The actor that plays Burke took his mom to the Opening night Screening of this before official theatric release and she was happy that his died in the end for what his character did in the movie. In an interview the actor that played Bishop hinted and soft confirmed a theory. He said that there was a possibility that his character encountered an Alien while crawling through the junction pipe to get to the transmitter. Which is a soft confirmation that Aliens don't care about the androids unless provoked. Even though this was a reaction to the Special Edition of Aliens there are deleted scenes that have Ripely come across Burke while go for Newt and she kills him before the Alien bursts from his chest.

When you do watch Alien3, try and see the Assembly Cut version, as its closer to the Director's original vision and it makes more sense before the studio butchered it for the theatrical release.

I bought the SE Laserdisc(!) in 1990 and the 1986 "Aliens" tale took on more weight and pathos. 19:04 Ripley shows Apone and Hicks that she isn't a front office paper shuffler like Burke, but a working class dog like themselves. 19:35 That's an aircraft towing vehicle dressed up as an APC. 20:28 An experienced solder will catch 40 winks whenever possible, because combat is a 24 hour thing. 23:06 The Hamsters, like Jones the Cat, are too small to be Xenomorph hosts. 27:33 In 1986, I noticed that Ripley was able to "get close, quickly" to Rebecca, unlike the female Colonial Marines. A reviewer of the time said: "Sisterhood!" The 1990 SE confirmed my suspicion that Ripley had been a parent.

Hi Natascha. One of the major parts missing from the theatrical release was Ripley was a mom. The photograph of Ripley’s daughter, if I remember right, was Sigourney’s real mom. I actually met the queen alien monster. Shortly after this film the two props at the end (The Alien Queen and the Loader that Ripley was in at the end) toured the United States. I saw it in our local Science Museum. The loader worked by having a larger man inside and Sigourney Weaver just rode on the suit. Very ingenious. The Alien Queen was a very detailed sculptured puppet and rather terrifying. The pacing of this version was less stressful than the feature release (which is shorter). IU actually prefer the theatrical release because the pace is just insane, and the tension juts keeps coming. It really does trim out the stuff that (while interesting) isn't necessary for the story. More isn't always better.

One of James Cameron true sequel here. Glad you did the extended version. If you watch 3, then you're gonna be very disappointed with that movie, it's a slap to the face for all fans. At least 4 made it up but people still hate it for some reason. The reason why the head look different was because the smooth dome would crack and such so James decided to go with a exo dome layer and this is the best version too.

The sequels Alien³ (1992) and Alien Resurrection (1997) are the only ones I can recommend. The two prequels (Prometheus & Alien: Covenant) coming after those wasn't worth my time and the newest (Alien: Romulus) I haven't seen. But you watch whatever you like. No need to do what we tell you.

BTW just yesterday I happened to come across some trivia about Aliens - I had no idea you'd be watching it in the evening ! Turns out Sigourney Weaver didn't want to make a sequel. And James Cameron was frantic, he realy poured his soul into the script. So she read it and loved i. But she wanted a fortune from the studios. The Studios said nope, we'll go for someon less expensive. Cameron noped out in turn, saying "no Sigourney no film". He was on a honeymoon with his wife & producer and set a deadline, for the situation to have been settled by his return. He returned from the honeymoon and situation was still stuck. So - being friends with Arnold Schwarzenegger since The Terminator(1984), he called Arnold's agent to tell him he was considering making Aliens with him instead of Sigourney. Arnold's agent called Sigourney's agent. She realized she would lose the part so she agreed to make it. Cameron's bluff worked!!!!

I was 4 (30 years ago) when I saw this alone (with my twin) only cuz the folks were going out and they said we could watch whatever we had in the cassette cabinet (when they were parts of entertainment systems) so I was basically desensitized to gore from this movie. The film title "Aliens" doesn't necessarily refer exclusively to the Xenomorphs. It can also apply to the humans on LV-426 since they were also non-indigenous to that planet. So in reality this film was Aliens Vs Aliens. And in fact, had there been only one Xenomorph on the planet like in the first film, the film title would still refer to the human colonists and Colonial Marines plus the one alien.

Ellen Ripley -- especially as depicted in this sequel, Aliens -- is widely acclaimed as one of the two best heroines of (sci-fi) cinema. Have you watched Terminator and Terminator 2? If not, you still have yet to be introduced to the second one.

The scene where we kearn that Ripley had a daughter informs so much of her character and her need to protect Newt. Personally... I agree with those that say stop with the franchise at this point, but that is my opinion.

I must say, I really like and enjoy the long reaction videos. They cover all the little parts that are important to the film and reaction, but that a lot of reactors skip, As well as showing us more emotions and commentary from the reactor, which why we are watching it in the first place. Also, you watched the right version of the film. This one has parts the original doesn't, especially Ripley's relationship and connection with Newt, which the original leaves out.

If I could go back in time, I would stop watching the Alien movies with this one. Alien3 takes a huge dump on the ending of Aliens and then they just turn into weird and confusing cash grabs after that.

Excellent reaction, Natascha. The Extended Version you watched adds detail that brings out the relation between Newt and Ripley that the cinema version largely leaves out. Take my advice, avoid the rest of the Alien Franchise, they are all either poor or very poor.
