what makes them special is that some units pioneered in the early days of modern warfare, and the British are not alone. The French, Italians and Americans paved the way for specialized units to exist. Each country has had its own success. But by ancestry, it doesn't make any sense. According to your logic, Turks should have been better soldiers because they originate from hardcore steppe warriors, but their abilities are only on paper.

@@FFFfortyeight Have you ever seen how English tourists act abroad? Talk about, mentality, history, class, respect and IQ. What are you bragging about? A few specialized soldiers are by no means the image and blood of the past. The average SAS soldier, worse, the average soldier can't even locate London on a world map, let alone have a meaningful conversation, other than 'workout' mentality and writing books. Besides, if you really do want to bring up genetics and mentality, take a close look at the Mongolian Special Forces. Even Americans praise them.

@Rob R Former USMC medic and Vet here, the only units we.have that are classed as tier 1 in UK are DEVGRU6 and Delta. Their tier 1 is SBS and SAS. Our Rangers and Green Berets are equivalent to PARAS which are classed as elite in UK. Marine Recon is Royal Marine Commandos again classed as elite not tier 1. The UKSF recruits from Royal Marines and PARAS mostly, they must have 4 years experience before applying, so these dudes are usually battle hardened. We.dwarf them in numbers but UK cherry picks only the cream of the crop. You're stuck, you want the British SAS to get you.

@soflo23 article basically says SAS and seals are the same and capable of the same feats but due to geopolitical power and money if anyone was to come out on top it would probably be the seals. has nothing to do with the ability of the soldier or the training, which the SAS has the best of, the british army are the fittest and best trained individually so of course the special forces would take it to another level. hence why the british army is still a powerful military despite its small size.

@soflo23 1. The indian guy did complete the course with ease(what i mean is he said he completed that with ease) the source i got it from was from the infographics show of top 10 special forces secondly you keep referring to specoficly the team 6 and saying they are their own thing they are not they are part of the seals. I did not say they currently train navy seals as they do not need to be trained every year secondly the sas are equal to the sbs and did not want to work with us special forces over the sbs. My point about counter espionage you said seals and oth SF do it to i like to point out seals dont do counter espionage and i do not know if other U.S. sf do it but its not important as we are comparing seals not any other SFs making that irrelevant. When it comes to physical ability you can see online that the SAS has a higher standards. You keep saying the seal team 6 they r not their own thing they are part of seals just like seal team 5 aint its own thing we are comparing navy seals not a specific team. Plz give me reasons why the seals are the best

i remember watching a documentary where a former seal was talking about his first encounter with a small sas squad.. and he said he recalls them having the ora of guardian angels and then went on to explain they all were wearing American badges.. when he asked one of them why this was the sas guy just smirked as he walked off and said "well when we've got the job done, they need someone to blame.. and it sure wasn't us, because we were never even here"!! 👀😅💪
@TheLAGopher
@TheLAGopher Ай бұрын
That wasn't just any SEAL.It was DJ Shipley,who was a second generation Navy SEAL and member of the tier 1 DEVGRU special mission unit. The SAS guys he spoke about were wearing American flag patches on their chest rigs in a US Army mess hall the DEVGRU guys were also eating at. Shipley seemed to imply that the SAS men were half joking when they talked about others needing someone to blame being the reason they represented as US tier one Delta/DEVGRU members. A possible real world reason was the SAS had to at times deal with restrictions from their own government over going after insurgents because of allegations of excessive force and even torture by American forces. The Brits didn't want to sit out missions because London was worried about possible blowback of British involvement in US operations that crossed the line. So they wore US flag patches on certain missions to pass as a US unit.

I think the SAS will do more and go further than any other elite force on the planet. When you watch the stuff they do and listen to the stuff they say, you understand why thier motto is 'who dares wins'. The training is simply unbelievable. They can be the first in a war zone and the last out. They can be on missions that no one will know about, secrecy is one of thier biggest things, and they literally don't ever leave a man behind. One thing is for sure, when the kettles gone cold and the biscuits are gone they're somewhere, out there possible not coming back. Quite frankly they put thier hearts and souls into thier country. Plus they're some of the hardest cunts there is. Much respect for them all

+soflo23 the British still teach your military, in SF, Arctic warfare, and most areas of soldiering to be honest. American standards are rather low in comparison, it's your expenditure that is the only reason your armed forces on a whole could be considered better than ours. But there is no power on earth that has the capacity to invade our island. It's an extremely strategic location. That's all there is to it. I don't know why Americans always have this complex of trying to be the best at everything. Especially when there are less blatantly patriotic more logic based ways to solve problems.

I’d argue that the first pioneers of modern special forces were the German stoßtrüppen of ww1, who evolved into elite Waffen SS and German paratroopers in ww2, where the British Royal Marines and the original SAS copied many of their tactics and evolved them, for instance constant movement and cover fire to confuse enemy positions was pioneered by the Germans, then us Brits evolved them after capturing SS field manuals, prisoners and training documents. The SAS are certainly the best modern special forces and set the grade, but perhaps ironically part of the units success and elite level cane from German concepts.

Glad to see everyone getting along for once . All countries have their own unique special ops and I respect them all they all have their own techniques and skills but what makes our sas and sbs and path finders unique is they do combine all of it in one package and use it in action plus our special ops were set up by Sterling who was a badass solider who had the whole backing from the uk government and free reign to create an elite fighting force regiment and it worked so when the sas or sbs or any of our other special regiments tell the government this is how it’s going to be done it gets done that way. The uk government and MOD have realised since ww2 these soliders will always do %100 commitment in action and looking at Northern Ireland conflict it’s proven government intervention leathal for both sides

British special forces are the best in the world,they set the bar for every country after Iranian embassy siege,thats why US and other countries have been trained by them
@TheLAGopher
@TheLAGopher 3 жыл бұрын
The British special forces set the bar in WW2 and maintained it through various counter-insurgencies in the 50s and 60s. Australia and New Zealand caught on fast and set up their own SAS units in the 50s. Those units also got plenty of expertise in counter-insurgency warfare. In the case of America, our military strategy since the Civil War has been dominated by numbers and firepower over guile and stealth. America has had a love-hate relationship with "elite" military units because they clash with the ideal soldier in the American self-image as being a volunteer (or draftee) "citizen soldier" who learns the tactics of war as he goes and is usually at a disadvantage to his enemies. This goes back to the post-revolutionary American idealism that is was militiamen and not Washington's professionally trained Continental Army that defeated (with the help of the French Navy) the highly professional British Army. This idea was also seemingly vindicated by the US military being on the winning side in both world wars against the tough veteran militaries of the Germans in both world wars and against Japan in the second world war. America would go to war and have to build an army from scratch only to disband it (outside of frontier or coastal fort duty) and have to repeat the process in the next war. All because Americans had a historic fear of standing militaries that lasted from the end of the Revolution till the start of the Korean War. After both world wars, the US drastically slashed its military. It had done so after the Revolution, the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Civil War, and the war with Spain and the Philippines. It was with Korea, and the US military getting caught ill-prepared by North Korea and Red China, against the backdrop of the Cold War, that the US put itself on a permanent war footing from which it has never come off of even after Vietnam and in the post-Cold War, post-Desert Storm New World Order era of the '90s. The massive US military machine has never taken kindly to SOF units and would totally disband them after WW2 and Korea, and severely slash them after Vietnam. Only after the failure to rescue the Iranian held hostages due to the disaster at Desert One in 1980, did the US finally figure out what the UK (and Australia and New Zealand) had known since the Malayan Emergency in 1950, and the Israelis had known since the founding of the Jewish state in 1948, that dedicated special forces maintained on a permanent basis, would be needed to fight irregular warfare (insurgencies, terrorism) that would come to dominate the second half of the 20th century and the first two decades of the 21st. If given a choice, America's solution was always a massive ground force of US Army and Marines supported USAF and Navy airpower. It didn't put a Special Forces officer in charge of pacifying Vietnam. Instead, it put a General reared under General Patton in charge. It wasn't until the war on terror, that the US military embraced special operations as valuable contributors to a joint fight, that the British and other commonwealth countries had done for decades. Over the last twenty years, the US has gone from being the student being taught by foreign units to being the teacher.

All NATO SF selection and training is 95% standardized since a decade, standardization program started in 1993 after US SOCOM realized that during Desert Storm (1991) having different SF from various NATO countries all with different training, communicarions, tactics and materisls was a pain in the ass and also gave way to a couple of incidents with units clashing/ambushing each other simply becasue they had no idea WTF the others were doing. 5% difference is mostly tactics related to different domestic terrains. There is also a shared training base in Europe called NSFHQ in which different units exchange and crosstrain. Sorry but the "numer one, number two" is just bullshit.
