"I have followed the exploits of the Royal Marines speed marching team over six years," writes military filmmaker Chris Terrill. "Royal Marines have determination and doggedness bred in their bones but I never cease to be amazed at the pain thresholds they are able to cross, both physically and mentally."

I did a Google search and their record was recognized in January of 2018. The Royals hold the record officially. Great job! As an active duty U. S. Marine I had the privilege of training and serving with them. I would go anywhere with them.

Alright, his English is not exactly what you'd call posh, but he seems to be the type of man leading by example and not just by loudness. And this is what instills respect into the ordinary squaddie and he will follow such an officer anywhere. And singing the "Lambeth Walk" during a marathon - my goodness... This should have been on the national news. f@#king discraseful decision by Guinness. So when athletes wore the latest advanced running shoes to break a world record, technically their records no longer stand because they weren't wearing the same running shoes as when the original record was set, and what about their socks, shorts and vests or even their underwear for that matter. I smell a Guinness rat. Somebody at Guinness has a personal interest behind this decision and not wanting it to be recognised. we should be demanding the identity of the rat who stitched up the Marines world record success. Every new world record is now officially no longer a world record, Human and Mechanical, so don't waste your money buying the official Guinness book of no new world records.

An extraordinary effort by all of these guys - not just the eight with the 40lbs, but the support runners carrying water and caffeine tablets etc (it appeared to me that they were all wearing combat fatigues, not lightweight running gear) and Scotty Mills...! Running a marathon while constantly encouraging and engaging the guys. Extraordinary.

No question the US is an unstoppable military force. But the UK has a long history of fighting. They set the standard for professional forces for a long time and know how to get the job done. If the UK are covering your left flank you don't need to worry about your left flank. @George is right as well, the Germans know how to do it. But they don't have the modern day experience we do, which in reality, is priceless...

when you've been to war with basically every nation on earth you better be good at it. UK's military is small compared to Russia, China, SK, USA etc but for the most part it's one of the best trained.
