This should have been on the national news. f@#king discraseful decision by Guinness. So when athletes wore the latest advanced running shoes to break a world record, technically their records no longer stand because they weren't wearing the same running shoes as when the original record was set, and what about their socks, shorts and vests or even their underwear for that matter. I smell a Guinness rat. Somebody at Guinness has a personal interest behind this decision and not wanting it to be recognised. we should be demanding the identity of the rat who stitched up the Marines world record success. Every new world record is now officially no longer a world record, Human and Mechanical, so don't waste your money buying the official Guinness book of no new world records.

@R B the only thing stopping Germany from an invasion was air superiority. Hitler knew this and is why he wanted to completely destroy the RAF before any invasion began. The battle of Britain was, however, one of the worst conflicts Britain has experienced on mainland UK soil throughout recent history (last 100 years). But in terms of defending the skies, the RAF's home advantage and ingenuity allowed them to keep putting pilots in planes and planes in the sky. So long as that was the case, any invasion of the mainland wouldn't just be met with a reserve force and one of the greatest (although extremely stretched) navies in the world, but also fighter planes and bombers. I'm not trying to play armchair general with you, but these are my understandings based on documentaries and reading. Perhaps you can allude me to some new information that would make me consider what you've said with more thought?

An extraordinary effort by all of these guys - not just the eight with the 40lbs, but the support runners carrying water and caffeine tablets etc (it appeared to me that they were all wearing combat fatigues, not lightweight running gear) and Scotty Mills...! Running a marathon while constantly encouraging and engaging the guys. Extraordinary.

They can't have the record due to trousers being 'modern', christ the boots they were wearing were aswell! 100% a record and should be proud

Maybe Guinness wants them to go back to running in leather stocks and hob-nailed boots?

I admire Major Mills. He's a true leader. Oh, and by the way to these morons at Guinness World Records. The mission is to run a marathon as a team with 40 pounds in your backpack and in military gear, the same boots and trousers you would wear in combat. So, I would say mission accomplished.

AMAZING GROUP OF ROYAL MARINES, I am humbled by the determination to endure together as a team. Who are these people behind the GUINNESS RECORD to tell the world you didn't break the world record? The world watched your video, we here in the Fiji Islands watched your video too. It's record in the hearts and minds of the 8 brave RM , all the supporters and great fans around the world. Hell with the pants they wore it takes guts, the physical and mental toughness to reach the finish line, SOME PEOPLE DREAM OF SUCCESS WHILE OTHERS WAKE UP AND WORK HARD AT IT.
