I personally love the fact that the british know how to run steam trains and are not afraid to do it. so many of these beautiful engines sit in museums, cold and lifeless. to see a steam train in all its glory is a real thing of beauty. long may they ever live in steam.

I have a few questions if it's okay: 1. Where's the Flying Scotsman? 2. What is the point of the diesel at the end? 3. How come Mallard isn't allowed for rail service anymore?
@marcogentile33922 жыл бұрын
I can only answer the last 2 questions: 1) the diesel at the end is used as power supply for the coaches and as possible emergency braking 2) Mallards boiler has "expired", so they can't use it to make her run. To do that it needs to be replaced

Followed by a proper British accent on the sound for some of us who could benefit from the audio practice, more properly get into the genuine spirit of the British steam train experience and fully participate in your excellent video. Maybe the whistle sound on another video, if you think it too much? Gracias. Desde Colonia Centro Histórico, Puebla, México, DerRobMann sends... envía...

Unfortunately the last regular Steam hauled service in the UK took place in 1968 (I think) and likewise they are all replaced by Diesel Locomotives, Electric Locomotives, DMU'S (Diesel Multiple Units) and EMU's (Electric Multiple Units). The Locomotives in the video are all excursion services operated by private companies. Nice to hear from Canada - I have cousins that are from Britush Colombia but I've never been there. Hope this helps Kind regards James McKelvey

James McKelvey I've never been to British Colombia, but it's probably one of most scenic provinces you could possibly visit in Canada. It's cool you have cousins you could visit. I wish the us had more mainline steam they don’t usually go as fast as UK steam. But we are making another locomotive called The T1 they said it did 140 so let’s see if it actually come true hopefully, live another year with PRR steam.
@blackbirdgaming81476 жыл бұрын
Peter Lombardi We don’t go that fast because it’s illegal to do so here in the US. The maximum legally allowed speed for locomotives not equipped with PTC and/or cab signals is 79 mph. As soon as all the major locomotives we have here in the US receive that treatment, we will see them speed up significantly. It is also worth noting that running locomotives hard is very hard on them. The 4449 crew has had no problem running 70-75 and 90 mph, but it’s very hard on the locomotive and as 4449 is the last of her kind, they prefer 60 mph.
