A Shot Of Wildlife

4 жыл бұрын

In this short NATURE DOCUMENTARY we visit RSPB Titchwell on the North Norfolk Coast, UK. RSPB Titchwell is a world famous wildlife reserve on the north Norfolk Coast in England. The reserve has a wide range of habitats from tidal mudflats, reedbeds, freshwater lagoons, saltwater lagoons and a beach.
In this video we take a tour of the area, visiting all of the hides and searching for as many species of birds (and other wildlife) as possible.

Really good video. Super informative it's great that you're showing people how important it is to show an interest in the animals we have around us I think people forget about them due to high exposure of other animals if u get what I mean keep up the good work! :)

Superb Liam, great location with excellent content. Your narrative exudes passion and enthusiasm. I totally agree with your remarks about getting youngsters involved in nature and conservation, as you mentioned, they are the future generation to be taking care of our planet. Thank you for sharing this "little masterpiece". Phil. Out of interest, what camera are you using for your more distant shots??
@AShotOfWildlife
@AShotOfWildlife 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Phil. Thanks for taking the time to write such a nice comment. In my day-job I get to go to schools and colleges to talk about wildlife and it is sometimes a bit worrying how disconnected some young people are from wildlife. I think theres hope, its just trying to show how interesting wildlife is, or better still - show how exciting wildlife can be! The camera I use is a canon sx60 hs. I got it for a bargain £120 from facebook marketplace. I have a sx50 hs too but that is my back up camera now. They both have amazing zooms and I did a side by side comparison with a nikon p900 and my camera had further reach. Cheers!

A Shot Of Wildlife Thank you Liam, the information about the cameras is much appreciated. Regarding your thanks to me for my comments, the comments I made are really justified, and to hear you get the opportunity to talk to youngsters about wildlife is truly great to hear. I use some of my own material for local fundraising, and to raise awareness, so I'm trying like you.There is nothing I enjoy more than sharing my wildlife encounters with live audiences. You are doing a fantastic job on your channel, which I enjoy personally, very much. One word to some up, "Outstanding". All the best. Phil.

I love your video. We have watched it quite a few times. Just on the subject of binoculars….. I have always used 8 x 42…… however I have just purchased a Nikon 7x 32 and they are so very good. Your thoughts please. We are going there this summer for the third time…… we are not local. Anyway…. Your video is so good. Kind regards Ken from Rutland.

Thanks Ken, I am glad you enjoyed this video and wonder if you have seen my more recent visit to Titchwell which is on the channel (I would link it but as I have started to respond to you, if I click off this comment it will be lost forever). Unfortunately I cannot help with binoculars, I don't use them. Mainly because my camera has a brilliant zoom but also because I already have a lot of gear to carry. I hope you get on okay with them and enjoy your next trip to Titchwell. Cheers, Liam.

Just a question ,from Scotland, from the start of December 2023, I have put out seed rice ,fruits ,leftovers for the birds ,,but have noticed in the last week ,crows and magpies have become very cautious to some predators of some kind ,they come in twos ,one watches one eats ,then change ,but the lookout very edgy in both as if on tiptoes with wings ready for a quick get away ,,have u noticed any thing of the same with any winter birds ,

I suspect there may actually be a predator about. I know if a sparowhawk comes near a feeder and is spotted the birds will be a bit more wary for a few days. It will probably go back to normal soon enough.

Hi Adam. Thanks for that :) I have filmed a video at strumpshaw but unfortunately I was using a lens on my phone (which is what I use for filming the bits where I am on camera) and didn't realise that it was producing blurry footage. I might see if its salvageable or possibly pop over that way again soon. I want to visit Buckenham marshes before the spring really kicks in too!

Great educational video because you take the time to explain/describe what we are seeing. Few do that. Maybe a peregrine flew over. Unfortunately no bearded tits here. I'm never embarrassed to speak to the camera in front of people. I just blank them out. ( As long as i'm not disturbing anyone. ) I wondered what the fence was all about. Good stuff!
@AShotOfWildlife
@AShotOfWildlife 4 жыл бұрын
I think thats highly likely. We did manage to see a peregrine later in the day but didn't get it on film unfortunately. I cant believe there are no Bearded tits in NI. That does surprise me! Having looked on the NBN atlas (which is a really interesting website if you havent looked before), they were included in the BTO breeding bird guide at a couple of sites south of Dublin but that was in the 80s and 90s. I also appreciate that that is as close to you as I am to Amsterdam! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, I appreciate your support as always!

Please be careful of bird food seeds from America are being used. Several plants have grown in my garden that are invasive, eg, American Burn weed also Annual Ragweed. Please let the RSPB members know also Chris Packham to put this warning on Autumn Watch. Thanks.
