Using the results of the dye analysis it should be possible to recolour a digital image to the correct colours to show what it looked like new.

This series has been just the BEST! Conservation work is so often unappreciated and this helps show just how much heart and hard work goes into it. Many thanks to everyone involved.

Deeply impressed. Both from the conservation perspective, and the science research perspective. The chemicals/plants used to dye the threads is as much a part of the story as the imagery and technique. As a social scientist working with the application of IT artefacts in organisations this process has given me inspiration for my own work. My thanks.

This was a fantastic series and I hope you do more like this in the future. I would have loved to see a side by side of the before and after, but aside from that you all did an amazing job. Thank you so much for sharing with us!

I hope lots and lots of the Japanese people got to come and see this beauty and wonder. You did a stupendous job, Hannah and Monique, and the rest of the crew - your obvious care and respect for the beautiful art did my heart good to see. Thank you all for saving this lovely piece of history so many many more people can enjoy it in the future.

Thank you so much! Honestly, I didn't want it to end. I got to know an amazing work of art and the care it takes to preserve it.

Thank you for documenting so much of this process. It's been fascinating to see the techniques and the care that has gone into this. I hope I can see it on display eventually!

The series was as well thought out and as well implemented as the conservation effort. Marvelous!

Just wonderful. The background detail of the dyestuffs added another dimension to the story.

It's been fascinating to watch the conservation of this Bhudda piece. Thank you so much. I'd like to see more conservations in this manner, and would also love to see some tours of the Museum itself. You could make a series out of each section, and even break that up into separate series. ie Egyptian series, Sumerian etc etc. I'll never get to see the British Museum, but all my long life it's always been a dream to see it.

Whatever happened to the Chinese sign on the back? Did you figure anything about about it?

I would've love to see the before and after side by side, and also what happened with the Chinese symbols they found in the back, but overall a very satisfying series to watch and appreciate. Definitely I want to see more restorations with this extension of the details.

It makes sense that the Buddhist wouldn't use the snail shells for the purple. It would mean killing alot of little lives.

I wish they would have restored some of the lost locations or brightened up the threads using the found techniques, rather than just conserving.

Loved this series as well.. my only critique; I think the backing actually adds to the piece making it feel 'whole'. But in fact, it isn't 'whole'... I would still consider this piece, although rather large, a fragment of the original composition; I would have definitely went several shades lighter...almost white on the backing.. I think there is still beauty in the fragility and decimation of the piece that I think is kind of lost with the chosen backing.

A fascinating series. I thoroughly enjoyed them all. I wanted to know if anyone found out what those black character markings were, though. Ah well, we can't have everything, can we?
