3 years after UK left the EU, many Britons are already regretting Brexit. Inflation has hit a 40-year-high, many Britons are being forced to shoplift in order to cope with the cost-of-living crisis.
Analysts say Brexit has exposed the fault lines in UK's economy.

Can the UK undo Brexit? Well not on its own it can't. It takes two to tango. Unfortunately, for the UK the EU has learned to live without the UK and some EU countries have and will continue to gain from the UK's absence. For example, prior to Brexit there were complaints from some EU countries like France that the City, in a non Eurozone country, shouldn't be handlng Euro clearing and other Euro based transactions. The ECJ ruled that depriving the UK of this would be discrimination against an EU member country, which the UK was at that time. That caveat no longer exists. Euro clearing is not manpower intensive but it does amount to around 100 trillion euros per annum. Amsterdam has surpassed London in stock trading volumes and it seems that London is also losing some listings to EU financial centres. The EU appears to be content with the TCA as it stands and it has to be remembered that, currently, each of the 27 has a veto versus new membership and/or closer alignment and, in spite of pious declarations of friendship and public statements regarding closer ties, for those EU member states that have gained from Brexit I'm pretty sure charity begins at home.

As most here have noted, but most Brits have not, the UK has no power to vote itself into a club that it is not a member of. They still think they are in charge of everything, and they don't get that it is not up to them, but up ot the EU to determine if they are worthy of joining. And the answer is no, they are not. They are not even capable of keeping their word on the treaty they most recently signed with us. They still have not met the requirements and conditions of the TCA. So how can we let them into a club when we know they do not follow the rules? And that is only the begingn of the many, meany, many reasons why they can never be allowed to rejoin.

Are you suggesting that the US should be forced to follow laws set by people that they didn't elect? Indeed the EU was Taxation without Representation. I think the US had something to say about that. Misinformation is very high from the Media which was and remains extremely biased towards the EU (an unelected elite imposing rules on people against the wishes of the people). Therefore I don't blame you. Perhaps either you should refrain from commenting on something you clearly know very little about or go out of your way to listen to those who advocated for Brexit on what they hoped to achieve. Baroness Hoey. Brendan O'Neil. Nigel Farage. Not what people say about them but what they say.

Tell me. Did house prices fall by a third as claimed by the Head of the Bank of England? Was he laughed out of the room? Did he become unemployable? No, Mark Carney the internationalist has had no trouble moving into another high profile internationalist job. Everyone in the media and the pro Remain government nodded and agreed while not behaving like people who thought it was possible that they would lose a third of the value of their house(s). They knew it was a "noble lie". Most remain arguments were lies, and if you have to lie to persuade people of something, you know it isn't good. They even lied and continue to lie that "the slogan on the side of a bus was a lie", even though it was imperially true.

@@ebubechiibegbula5968 The largest damage done to the UK in the past 30 years is Hyper Immigration. Having "Taken Back Control" Internationalist Boris, who only saw Brexit as a path to power for himself. Blew up the gates. The EU doesn't care about the people, if it did, it would control the boarders of the EU. That is just one thing. The EU is for corporate business, undemocratic, and tries to bully it's members (or would be leavers) into line. I am not a socialist but actual socialists like Tony Ben and Barbra Castle knew this. As Tony Ben said: “What power have you got?” “Where did you get it from?” “In whose interests do you use it?” “To whom are you accountable?” “How do we get rid of you?” The EU president and the entire commission are unelected bureaucrats.

"If we fail and the British people vote ‘No’ to the European Community, they will read how there was a defeat for co-operation between nations, and how there was a victory for the tribunes of the Left. They will read how extremism won over commonsense. For it is purely common sense to belong to a community working together in peace on economic and political issues that concern us all. It is purely commonsense to have access to secure sources of food supplies, when as a nation we have to import half our food. It is surely commonsense to belong to the Community that is the largest trading and aiding unit in the world, and play our part in that Community. It is surely commonsense for Britain to continue to play a part in the Council of Europe. It is purely commonsense that we should now listen also to the Commonwealth-those Nations who twice this century, have come to Britain's aid to defend democracy in Europe. Not one of them now want us to leave. The Commonwealth wants us to stay in. Britain has made a vital contribution to the past. She has a contribution to make to the future. It will be bigger in Europe than alone." Margaret Thatcher Speech to Conservative Group for Europe (opening Conservative referendum campaign) April 1975

Germany was one of the best performing economies in the aftermath of the financial crisis but has stagnated since about 2018 despite a tight labor market. It was the industrial powerhouse of the EU, but in the last 5 years it has underperformed the Euro area economic growth. The big factor contributing to the slowdown is stagnating industrial production, and more specifically, the massive decline in car production over the last few years. According to the Federal Statistical Office of Germany in 2022 Germanys main export product was motor vehicles and parts, at 15.6%. Machinery came second at 13.3% and and chemical products at 10.4% ranked third. Global car production peaked in 2018 and is now more than 10% lower than just a few years ago. Sales of new combustion engine vehicles peaked in 2017 and are now down by 20%. Advanced economies are relatively saturated and the registration and sales of new vehicles has been stagnating for more than decade. This, together with the growth slowdown in emerging markets, has led to lower global demand. But car production in Germany peaked even earlier, at around six million in 2012, and has been on a downward trend ever since. Car production fell to just over four million in 2019 and plunged to just three million in 2021. German car production is now at its lowest in more than three decades, and more than 1.5 million cars lower than just a few years ago. Cars and car parts exports represented more than 19% of German GDP in 2016 but declined to less than 16% more recently. While the total value of exports has now recovered, this is mostly a price effect (higher prices for a smaller number of sales) and not a volume effect. Germany exported only 2.6 million cars in 2022 (the same as in 1990), whereas car exports consistently exceeded four million from 2007 through to 2017. By value, in 2022 the three main markets for those cars was China at 14.5%, USA at 10%, and the UK at 8.3%. All three of those markets are showing a disinclination to buy cars from Germany. Chim an and the USA want to dominate the emerging EV market, and the UK is subject to restrictions due to Brexit (and absolute own goal by Germany, damaging the third largest market for its largest export). This decline of the car industry is really hurting Germany. Compared to the Anglo-Saxon economies, a larger share of workers in Germany are employed in manufacturing, with it employing 12% of Germans compared to 8% in the UK and USA. There are more than 700,000 people directly employed in the car industry in Germany, down from more than 830,000 a few years ago. Together with all the suppliers and attached industries, more than three million people in Germany are employed by the automobile industry. This represents some 7% of the total workforce, according to a study from IW Cologne. Manufacturing also represents a much higher percentage of German GDP, 19% compared to 12% in the USA and less than 10% in the UK, Even worse, traditional petrol drive on vehicles are being replaced by EVs. The E.U. is going to ban the sale of combustion engines as early as 2035. The typical car model has a lifecycle of about 10 years, three to four years development plus five to six years of sale, meaning that the current generation of conventional cars will probably be the last. Meanwhile China plans to sell more than a million electric cars in Europe by 2030. China is a big danger to the German car industry because it had an early start, it leads the world in battery technology and has a price advantage of about 20%. The entire EU car industry is now in jeopardy because EU lawmakers mandated early electric car adoption for its citizens without realising its own manufacturers lagged well behind China's. Meanwhile over the Atlantic the U.S. President Joe Biden has used a vast package of government subsidies under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to tempt many big European industrial players - like VW and battery supplier Northvolt - into considering a move to the U.S. and big business is cashing in on Europe’s fears of industrial decline. The EU fightback against Biden’s reforms involves allowing member countries to pour more state aid into their economies and targets for greater self-sufficiency. With China already dominating green tech supply chains, it’s becoming a global subsidies arms race, and it’s one that the EU is going to lose.

The EU and its predecessor, the EEC, have always been more than just a trade bloc. Look up the treaty of Rome which states purpose and goals of the EEC very clearly. The transition into the EU with a more pronounced emphasis on political integration also hasn't been made by a mysterious foreign entity. The UK government has been depply involved in this transition. It is not the EUs fault if people from the UK are too stupid to understand that. It just proves that the UK always has been and still is unfit for being a member of the EU. Many people here in the EU are glad they are out. It is just a simple thing. If you are in a club you adhere to its rules. If you don't like the rules you are free to leave by your own decision, that's what the UK did. But you cannot expect to have access to the club's facilities and benefits anymore. And if you still want to do business with the club you still have to follow its rules.

Did you google anything before commenting? Citizens of the EU do vote to elect their authorities. The UK kept the pound as its currency all the time it was a member of the EU, and currently there are 8 countries that have done the same. Not a single country in the EU has been forced to get rid of its national anthem!! Do you really believe that the British couldn't sing "God Save the Queen" from 1973 until 2020?? Or that the French are forbidden from singing La Marsellaise?? They would make another revolution! Really, whoever told you those tales, either was joking or deceiving you. And you believed it.
