They are a celebration of talent, ingenuity, human spirit, positive vibes, and energy. Love them! Super music is just super music! Another great Symphonic Metal Band is Epica with Floors good friend and old flat mate Simone. The song Sancta Tera has Floor as a guest & to showcase the two women's gorgeous voices watch Stabat Mater Dolorosa; amazing to open up different music to a metal audience.

They are perfectionists, their standard is sky-high, they are super proficient in their craft, and extremely gifted individuals each and every one of them. Literally, pick any song from their repertoire and be amazed. They do not have a bad/mediocre one. The Power of Nightwish is that they are genuinely there to share their passion with you. The Empathy in that shines through to you and nothing beats that. "The Band is a caravan of love and joy travelling from village to village passing on the good news. Each day is crowned by a concert that is an ode to the beauty of life" - Jukka Nevalainen

What a refreshing reaction experience, really like your style 👍 The Nightwish journey has just started for you guys and I know Gabriel has sent his wall of text with all the information you need 😂 Ghost Love Score and Storytime are amazing tracks and they just hook you into the Nightwish universe. When you decide to go for the rest of the ‘big three’ (Ghost Love Score is one of them, the others are Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest Show on Earth) just please do a bit of research before as they have massive meaning to them. Nightwish songs for your list? Romanticide from Wacken Their cover of Floyd's High Hopes Ghost river The Islander from Tampere (A Marco solo performance) I want my tears back from Buenos Aires (did you already do that?) While Your Lips Are Still Red from Wembley Greatest show on Earth. Two versions, both great for different reasons - Tampere and Wembley. But save this one for much later And finally, their latest album is completely different, so don't go to any of those track yet - they will confuse. And don't forget to try Floor on her own. She was on a Dutch TV series called Beste Zangers and gave some jaw-dropping live performances in front of professional singers.

Romanticide will be coming very soon, the Floyd covers is very interesting as we both like Floyd, but cant say we know that one, so we may react to the Floyd versions to get a taste of how it was done originally and then do the Nightwish version. STATUS CHECK --- three songs into your Nightwish journey: You will do more Nightwish videos You've liked everything you've heard so far All the songs are very different from each other Every musician in the band has made an impression You can't wait for lockdown to end so you can see them live A genre you couldn't imagine two weeks ago has become a favorite . . . sounds about right. By now you understand WHY there is a Nightwish Army - this isn't the sort of band that leads many people to say "Yeah, they're alright, I guess". It's much more common for people to say "This is the best singer I've ever heard" or "Why haven't I heard of them before now?", or sometimes, "I'm into Metal, how have I been sleeping on this band?". Another popular quote: "Of the Nightwish songs I've heard so far, this is my favorite". The one you never hear (outside of Finland) is "New Nightwish album tops charts seven weeks in a row". Here in the States, you most frequently hear "Never heard of 'em" or "What the f^

A lot of people say they couldn't imagine mixing Rock/Metal with opera. Queen were doing it in the 70s. You can also hear Symphonic Rock/Metal from the likes of Floyd & Rainbow in the 80s. Its just that in the 90s band started using classically trained female singers, but the music has been around for decades.

@AZAZEL Thank you for the comment. Of course you are so right, Bohemian Rhapsody for a start, It's just hard trying to get your thoughts out so quickly when reacting without boring people. Hi from the Midlands gents, another great reaction, keep going on this journey, if you ever wanted to see Floor being diverse then check out her duet of Phantom of the Opera on the Dutch tv show Bestezangers, it is sensational, in fact most of the songs she sings on that show are, obviously 🙄 also she growls in NW song Yours Is An Empty Hope from Wembley and also in her previous band, try Distain by Revamp. There is another very popular symphonic metal band Epica, the lead singer Simone is Floor’s best friend, they shared an apartment together when they were younger and they have sang together on stage, Epica did an anniversary gig with a full orchestra and Floor sang in some songs, the most watched of them is the song Sancta Terra at their retrospect show. Epica have a heavier sound than NW as they introduce harder music in some songs, especially Consign To Oblivion live at The Zenith in Paris, which consists of some death metal sounds too but is an amazing finale to their gig. Thanks again, great to watch some UK reactors 😀

Greets from Scotland, great reaction, nothing less than expected for your early experience of Nightwish, you have a new subscriber. Now you have the Nightwish army on board, if you like you could add another army called the Wolfpack, these are avid fans of a Japanese band called LOVEBITES, their musicianship can only be described as flawless, two brilliant lead guitarists Midori & Miyako are the most dynamic duo playing today and no one harmonizes as well as they do especially LIVE and at these speeds, Miho a powerful bass player who holds the rhythm effortlessly, the tiny thunder machine Haruna on drums and the soaring voice of ex R&B/Soul singer Asami, They're resurrecting retro style 80's heavy/power metal while adding their own melodic signature and profound lyrics, great power ballads too, they also sing in English(slight Japanese accent), trust me you will not be disappointed, preferably watch them LIVE they're unreal, almost too good to be true. @SaulTyre3 жыл бұрын
@@BritPopsReact No worries, whenever you're ready is fine with me. Here's some more interesting info, Miho & Haruna started Lovebites after Destrose the band they were in broke up, they invited Midori who was originally a keyboardist and played sort of hip hop stuff and only took up playing guitar aged 20. Miyako(who is a classically trained pianist from 3 years old) only began playing guitar aged 18, she originally joined as a backing singer and became a full member in 2017, she writes around 80% of their music. Asami was last to be invited, they asked her to rehearsals after they heard a demo tape of her and thought her voice would suit their songs, she had never sung Metal before. Their background only makes it all the more incredible that they are this good at Metal, their talent is insane. Finally, their sound engineers are the same guys who do Nightwish.

This is like pop metal, simple song structure verse chorus with just enough Nightwishness to elevate it. Nightwish really don't care about sticking to genre or even making everything sound metal they just write music and I think that is part of what makes it so accessible to so many people and why the internet has blown up a bit for their music. As long as you can deal with "loud" there is something for everyone in their music.

I think quite a few bands have turned symphonic back to front. Iron Maiden, The Who, and many others have had concerts with their music done by, or accompanied by a symphonic orchestra. But the symphonic metal genre itself is different in that the songs are actually composed for symphonics. I bit the bug by accident about 5 years ago when looking for Gary Moore's "Over The Hills and Faraway", and stumbling across the Nightwish version, with the original singer, Tarja. I am a lucky chap, having lived through two great musical ages. My teens were in the 1960s and I saw Jimi Hendrix play in my local pub. And now, in my seventies I have bands like Nightwish. I choose to forget the eighties ever happened (apart from Tool - you absolutely need to react to the video of Danny Carey playing drums on Pneuma). Life is good
@jeannettesimpson97783 жыл бұрын
Lucky you seeing Hendrix. I first encountered him on Top of the Pops on a black and white TV. I'm a little younger and saw my first band in 1970. The Cure got me through the 80s.

@donepearce Thanks again and great that you are enjoying our reactions and the music we are discovering. How great that must have been and also quite sad as your got to see someone like Jimi up close and then discover what would happen to him. What local pub was it and was this before or after Clapton and the Beatles all went to see him? OK, Tool is really not something we have listened to, so we could do those at some time. Really appreciate your support and your comments.

@@BritPopsReact The pub was The Railway Tavern in West Hampstead. It had a venue upstairs called Klooks Kleek. I had actually gone there to see John Mayall's Blues Breakers (Mick Taylor on guitar before he joined The Stones), and Jimi turned up and borrowed Mick's guitar for the second set. He was already established at this point.

@donepearce Thanks for the comment, I just read up on the Klooks Club. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klooks_Kleek Fascinating stuff and starting off as a Jazz club, it must have wondered what hit them when all the Blues started taking of with some big names in there and the likes of Tom Jones, Jimmy Page dropping in. Brilliant, I see Tom is releasing a new album too at 80 what can you say, he never fails to impress. Thanks again, catch you on the next reaction. (oh can you please try not to upset the young ones? Walking in the Air cover from Nightwish (baby Nightwish, close to the beginning of millennia) is one of their most magical performances, with first vocalist who hasn't yet finished opera school in Germany. I would, with all due respect, ditch the scoring system. It puts needless pressure on you instead of pure enjoyment of good music. When you say what elements you liked/disliked, then all is revealed. How about next one: Yours is an Empty Hope, Wembley?

@Goran Elez Thank you for your comment, we appreciate it. We have had the comment regarding the scoring, that works well on other Artists where there there can be good or bad songs. I am a fairly recent convert to symphonic metal which is odd, because in the past I loved metal and classical music, so it seems a no-brainer. It's surprising how few people know about the genre, and about Nightwish in particular. They are a very good band, and a lot of their music would appeal to a wide audience. I have only ever heard them once on commercial radio (Sleeping Sun) so I guess that's a good reason to spend more time on KZbin and less with commercial radio!
