Born Canadian here. He does not have a Canadian accent what so ever. He cannot be born here imo. If he does live here he would have moved here after establishing language from wherever he was born. That’s my guess anyway. A Canadian accent can sound different depending on where in Canada you are like eastern Canada (NFLD), Quebec, Ontario and western Canada and that can be different from Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Anyway, it’s an interesting video.

I was hoping you guys would react to this! I've watched this guy for a few years now. I never knew his last name, but knew he said he was Canadian. He doesn't sound Canadian to my American ears but I assumed maybe his first language was French-Canadian or something. He looks Scandinavian but his teeth look French (I know that will make no sense to anyone). If I remember right, he's fluent in Japanese and a few other languages.

Daz and Gaynor, I sent a video to OB a bit ago but if you didn't get it, there's a channel called trueseneye something like that but it has something 17M views but this kid does around 60+ different accents and other impressions that I think you'd like watching. I felt he was spot on. Many different British accents from different regions. He's older now but the video is very entertaining. Just a suggestion ~

I think you have a great point, the rhoticity of the southwestern accents is very familiar to most North Americans. It's also much easier imo for North Americans to sound Irish, as long as you can nail the vowels.

He gave it a good go, but he sounds like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins lol or RP speakers from 60 years ago. I don't know why he can't do one...I'm American and I can pass for British, easily, because we grow up hearing RP all our lives in film and tv, etc. so it's very familiar to us. Best answer is below: **"@instinctrules2969 Hes a danish canadian living in Japan"** This helps explain a lot of odd things about his accent, including the fact that apparently to many Canadians here, he doesn't sound Canadian at all. And I think Danish is right, because I remember the way our Princess Mary of Denmark (ie from Australia originally) sounded when she learnt Danish, and how her Danish family speak. It's quite a distinctive accent, somewhat like South African English, which has a Dutch component. (Both Dutch and Danish are Germanic, I think.) A certain way of articulating words, quite precise, so unnatural sounding to other native English speakers, who tend to sound more relaxed. He sounds kind of tense and stilted in both his 'natural' voice and his attempted RP English voice. - If any of that makes any sense! 😀

Question Gaynor and Daz, I've always wondered what Brits think about the accent that pronounces the "TH" sound as an "F". As in the people who say "Free fumbs" instead of "Three thumbs". I've always adored British accents but this particular one completely grinds my gears like I cant even describe lol. How do most Brits feel about this accent I'm super curious.

It's a Cockney/Londoner thing. Working class. Perfectly acceptable and non-grating to an English person, since it's recognised as just an authentic, traditional way of speaking, if you're from the London area.

In fairness, you English folks have so many GAZILLION glaringly different accents, it's obviously difficult for a non-Brit to pin down a specific UK accent. In all my years of dealing with English tourists in my South Pacific travels, I've met English couples whose accents sounded like they were from different PLANETS, lol! That's how I know that in England, you guys have different accents even in the same household! LOL, in my international travels I don't think I've heard the same English accent twice.

He's definitely not from Canada he sounds russion/Ukraine somewhere around there it's hard to tell because he also has a Canadian accent nice mixed with it. So he might live in Canada but no way is that 100% Canadian accent it sounds like a mixture of russion and Canadian. So there would be no way he would be able to get an accent right since he himself has 2 accents which aren't allowing him to actually make another accent distinct enough. I mean if you you've one accent you can learn a second accent from a specific area. That's why when I'm watching a movie 75% of the actors are from the UK Europe Australia but were taught to speak in whatever accent that state is from same with American actors are taught to speak in whatever region they are in UK etc. But him not being a native-born Canadian already has 2 accents that he probably can't even hear but other ppl can. So i don't think him personally would be about to speak in a neutral UK accent or posh English accent but he's right watching movies or shows you'll pick up on a specific accent and it'll change why do you think 90% of kids in the uk speak American English is from watching TV music etc
