I am rooting for the Oilers, but they aren't going to win four in a row.
@algrundau94413 ай бұрын
CHEERS MATE!!!....From Edmonton, Alberta Canada. In English Footie Terms....Edmonton Oilers are a side with World Class Strikers, probably the best in the World... A decent Midfield depending on the opponent. ..and anyone's guess on Defence and Goalkeeping....again depending on opponent. They are NOT boring......they would be the equivalent of a club that turns EVERY Corner Kick into a goal or near goal. ....Yet, They can be a terrible defensive team that somehow ironically has one of the best Penalty Kills. It would be like a club that defends set pieces and Corners to perfection....but gets everything else wrong?. My Oilers are a team I love,....They are the most entertaining team in the league...yet they break my heart and drive me insane....they infuriate me with their inconsistencies and contradiction's. They are what they are. Perfectly imperfect. They are a team that was at one point 31st out of 32 teams THIS SEASON!!! .......and made it all the way to the finals... Imperfection's and faults fully intact....an anomaly and a contradiction to say the least. Thanks for listening, Thanks for watching. Once again, Cheers Mate.

As many Oiler fans are, you're seeing things from an extremely bias view and overvalue your players. Unlikely to make the playoffs without McDavid. He lifts the rest up, even Draisaitl. If he doesn't contribute on the scoreboard, they're usually toast. As shown by the results in the finals so far and each time McDavid is shut down in a series.
@algrundau94413 ай бұрын
@@hebber1961 Did you actually read what I typed?...That is about as honest and accurate and unbiased an appraisal as it gets...Obviously McDavid is one of the WORLD CLASS STRIKERS I WAS REFFERING TO...As far as Draisaitl, ...only McDavid ,Mario and Gretzky have more points in the same number of playoff games played...Draisaitl usually plays on his own line. ..Do you have any idea what you are talking about?...Have you ever even been on skates or actually watched the Oilers?
@hebber19613 ай бұрын
@@algrundau9441 I did read it. You said "the E O are side with world class strikers, probably the best in the world". That leads one to believe you mean most forwards are world class. After McD and Drai, they drop off to average or worse. They're tremendous on the powerplay. That's their major point generator. Especially Drai. I know what I see. I have no dog in the fight, I watch the Oilers often and been to a few games there. I played hockey most of my life. Oiler fans tend to overvalue their teams, except their goalies who they often criticize too much. They get very salty when criticized, as you've shown. It's not unusual. The fact is, this team is not as good as you think. You must admit they make a lot of mistakes and bad giveaways that good teams don't do as often. I'd give Florida the edge on forwards, defence and goal. Forwards just on depth. Defence cuz they aren't gaff machines like Nurse and Bouchard. Edge on coaching too. Plus they were there last year and learned. Having said that, the Oilers could still win a cup or even this one as crazy as it sounds. All you need is McDavid and a hot goalie. He is that good but he has to produce.

Great stuff, lads. Their is an award for goalies in the regular season called the Vezina. Bobrovsky (we call him Bob or Bobbg) has won it twice and is one of the three finalists this year. He's probably gonna win it again this year. In the playoffs, the Conn Smythe award is given to the best player overall. Right now, Bobby is the front runner. He's been nothing short of spectacular. He will end up in the Hall of Fame for his unbelievable career. To answer your question, Yes, Sports Net is a Canadian Sports Network. #GOCATSGO

NHL awards are also clear of internal politics, so the wins are legit in the sense that they don't on purpose keep some stars name there longer than deserved or throw a hot rookie in for headlines. And they aren't afraid of giving regular season MVP to a player whom might not even make the playoffs, if it was clear he was carrying his team hard.

This is a Canadian TV channel (SN). They only showed highlights for the Oilers except the Panthers goals. They made it as if the Oilers dominated the game which is not true. Not fair enough for me. Now, I really want the Oilers to get swept.

IMO it was 60-40 in favor of Edmonton, they played better in this game but weren't able to beat Bobrovsky

You want them to get swept because of a broadcast's selectivity? That's pretty pathetic 😂

Offensive zone time was more then double for the oilers in this game, it was an absolute domination from the oilers. Just 58 seconds total of offensive zone time for panthers to do work which changed the whole game.

Bobrovsky and the panthers have put on the most dominant display of defensive hockey in recent memory especially in the playoffs right before the final series started fans and pundits alike claimed McDavid and Draisaitl would be too much for the panthers to handle yet they’ve been almost completely shut down by the panthers. As a Panthers fan this is fantastic to witness as just less than 10 years ago there were talks about moving the team out of Florida due to the lack of success and subsequent lack of revenue and now they’re one win away from winning the cup LET’S GO PANTHERS

a few goalkeepers have won the MVP. Most recent was Carey Price in 2014, but scoring was very low back then, the league's leading scorer only had 87 points. nowadays a goalie could never win it, not when you have guys scoring 140+ points per season.

Without knowing the game as deeply as football, I think you would enjoy some breakdowns of the goals. To be honest you already picked up on things a lot of casual hockey viewers don't, like the first goal losing the puck to Barkov started that whole sequence, which even some of the highlights cut out.

Just in case you're curious, I thought this was interesting. Miami and Edmonton are the two of the teams in the NHL furthest apart (I think only Seattle and Miami are further apart.) and Edmonton/Miami are the longest flight schedules in Stanley Cup history. It's over 2500 miles / 4000 kilometers between Edmonton and Miami and it takes around 8 hours to fly.

I just realized I'll correct myself. Boston to Los Angeles is 2600 miles / 4200 km and Boston to Vancouver is similar to Miami/Edmonton so I thought I'd correct myself. But anyways, it's not an easy travel schedule.
