LT was the closest thing to a 'Michael Jordan' of NFL defensive players. The definition of unstoppable.

The funny thing about that comment is LT played a lot of pick up basketball against Michael at UNC and supposedly nobody played tougher defense against him

I was at a Giants game years ago, and we were getting our asses handed to us. At halftime, they gave Lawrence Taylor some award on the field, and a guy sitting near me yelled, "GET THE MAN A DIME BAG AND SUIT HIM UP! OUR DEFENSE IS SHIT!"

My favorite fact about LT is that he was featured in a Sopranos episode playing poker at Tony's 2nd executive card game. And Tony even bowed in respect to "Sir Lawrence of the Meadowlands"

Does anyone remember how fast Tecmo Bowl LT was ?

I love that this is the clean version of LTs time in the league. He was a menace, he was drinking constantly, and smoking unimaginable quantities of crack. He told stories that when he would show up to practice drunk he would chug a whole bottle of mouth wash to try to hide the alcohol and give him a buzz. And said he would smoke an ounce of crack every day.

Having LT was like having The Hulk on your defense.....pretty much unstoppable. Players today get a hangnail and sit out half the season. LT was playing and dominating with a torn pec muscle! Unbelievable.

Beyond his stats, he also controlled the game, just by his presence. He was in the opposing QB's mind, on every play.

Lawrence Taylor was dominant monster back in the Day there hasn't been to many Linebackers since that can dominate the game of football since the only linebackers I can think of that dominate like LT is Ray Lewis
@kentgrady92264 ай бұрын
Ray Lewis was great and a Hall of Famer, no doubt. But, he didn't revolutionize the Mike linebacker position. Taylor revolutionized not only the position of edge rusher, he completely changed the way coaches coach, the way GMs build teams, and the pay scale of multiple positions (LT, TE, QB, LB). There was never anyone like him before, and there hasn't been one like him since.

We often describe the most talented musicians as virtuosos. Individuals who are so talented that they make what they do appear effortless. I think LT is a football virtuoso. To start at such a late age and to become the best ever...that's virtuosity.

I'm so fortunate to have grown up in the time where I was able to watch him play. No one even comes close to him. About quarterbacks - Brady is surely the best at the end of his career, but before him you could make a great case for Joe Montana. Absolutely amazing player, and he played with the greatest wide receiver of all time, Jerry Rice

No player could dominate a game more on the defensive side of the ball.. growing up as a redskins fan. The redskins played the giants twice a year.. and he ALWAYS made a huge impact

There are fringe arguments against Brady as the GOAT, primarily the choke job in the Superbowl with a record setting undefeated team or deflate-gate which are still flimsy. But I've never heard a solid argument of any other defensive player being the GOAT, it's undisputed with LT. You'll get some bogus arguments from homer fans thinking someone like Ray Lewis was better but everyone outside of that team knows it's BS. What an absolute monster, and doing most of this while high on crack which this video glosses over lol
