Lia Fat and protein will not make you fat Carbs make you fat. 20 carbs or less a day, the weight just falls off. I lost 85 lb doing this.. half a pound a day. Kept it off for years. So eat all the bacon eggs, ham, steaks, shrimps dipped in butter.. broccoli asparagus, 20 carbs or less a day and it's like a cheat code in life. When you eat low carb you burn fat, because your body needs sugar, so it's going to take it from your fat. When you eat carbs in your diet, but reduce your calorie intake, you burn muscle. 20 carbs or less a day, for 90 days. And you will completely reset your hormones. Your insulin resistance will reset as well. Insulin is needed anytime our blood sugar rises, just like any drug, if you use it all the time you need more and more to get the same effect.. eventually this is diabetes type 2, when you just cannot keep up with the amount of insulin you need. Before you ever get to diabetes type 2, periodically do the keto diet for 90 days and completely reset your insulin. Just like an alcoholic that goes 90 days without a drink, one drink will get you snockered. When you do go back to eating carbs after 90 days, just the slightest amount of insulin will get the job done

As a rule, tea is leeched in porcelain, because it stains everything else and porcelain allows washing, where any other type of material would leave behind a bitter taste to fresh water. As the saying goes, "Never wash the tea pot." Also, porcelain tea pots are expensive and extremely difficult to keep from breaking, so stainless is used for transporting the hot water, and a much cheaper and easier to clean and handle porcelain cup is used. Also, tea bags are individual serving sized, so putting it in a cup, guarantees the maximum amount per serving, per customer. Also, if several people want tea, they only need one kettle, because the various types or flavors, is leeched at each person's cup. Earl Grey for Joel and Green Tea for Lia.

I thought that was funny. I’d love a video of the staff’s reaction to watching them! 😂 Anytime someone goes to another country and eats the local Faire, I’m sure there’s a learning curve. I’d probably be laughed at, if I went somewhere else. I am surprised they liked Denny’s over IHOP. Lia, you are the first person I've ever seen that salted their pancakes. Usually a sweet breakfast item, maple or fruit syrup is poured over them... and maple syrup is good companion with sausage links or bacon. However, I got to admit... your concoction making a breakfast tacos using a pancake as a shell and filling it with egg, potatoes and bacon was brilliant. Next time try banana walnut pancakes, no syrup needed. Joel, you got the right idea trying an item like the pancakes that you don't get in the U.K. I am surprised that you didn't order one of the high protein pancakes items, like with the strawberry banana topping. Half and half is half whole milk and half heavy cream. Probably why your tea was almost white. Thanks again for the vlog!

If you want your bacon crispy, just ask for it crispy. I usually go a step further and ask for it burnt. Most cooks should know what you mean if you say burnt - it won't actually be burnt but very very crispy. And I always get my eggs over medium. It's like the best of runny but not too runny, and I can use my toast, biscuit, muffin or pancake to soak up the rest of the yolk

FWIW, pancakes, plain ones anyway, are supposed to have syrup poured over them. It looks like they brought you several small containers of maple syrup, and Lia completely ignored them. Next time, try syrup. IHOP stands for International House of Pancakes. That is what the chain used to be called, and they used to emphasize an international variety of pancakes and crepes. Eventually, they got away from that menu and shortened the name to just the acronym which is what everybody called them anyway.

For eggs: "over easy" means the egg is cooked on both sides without breaking the yolk. Basically, be "easy" on the yolk when flipping it "over". Then there's "sunny side up". This means the egg is not flipped. The yolk is not cooked at all. It is like the sun per say. Hence, "sunny" side up. Then there's poached, scrambled, hard and soft boiled, etc, etc.

@John Collins ...How long have YOU been in America? If you want coffee, do you have to specify you want it hot? Does it automatically come on ice with a boatload of sugar stirred in? Your assertion that "WE (Americans) DON'T DRINK HOT TEA!!" is utterly laughable. Lots of Americans enjoy hot tea... ESPECIALLY with breakfast. And when we ask for tea... we should be brought steaming hot water in a teapot, with a cup and saucer, and several teabags on the side. And it needs to be brought a bit AHEAD of the meal so the tea can steep properly to be ready when the food arrives. We also expect at least to have the option for decaf tea, which we'd specifically request if we were avoiding caffeine. It's lovely when an establishment offers specialty blends, green tea, or herb teas, but we don't hold our breath. A selection of sweeteners should be on the table already. We'd tell the waitstaff if we wanted lemon wedges, or some milk or cream for our tea. The only cold beverages one generally might order with a typical American breakfast would be fresh-squeezed orange juice or a glass of milk. Iced tea is more appropriate to accompany a lunch or dinner meal, and should always be brought unsweetened for the person dining to sweeten to their liking or drink unsweetened.. unless they ask for ordinary sweetened tea or Southern sweet tea. Personally, I'm not into the latter kind of "sweet tea," which contains a sickening mega-overdose of sugar, and has hardly any tea taste. As for coffee, those who like it can drink it, but I pass. It smells nasty to me and tastes foul. Iced coffee is no better. But to each his own. Just don't assume everybody likes coffee or is ordering cold "sweet tea" (ugh!) when they ask for tea with their breakfast.

I worked at IHOP, International House of Pancakes, while in high school and college. Over easy, med or hard eggs are flipped just cooked for different lengths of time. Sunny side up is not flipped. When you order poached eggs, and you want them runny then say poached easy. Then onto med or hard depending on how you want your yolk.

Haven't been to an IHOP in years, but they used to make what they call Pigs in a blanket, which is pancakes rolled up and sausage inside, so if there is a next time, check for it. Salt and pepper (and whatnot) your eggs and hashbrowns to taste. It’s assumed you will; they are consequently brought to you neutral. 4. Plain pancakes as Lia ordered are meant to be eaten with butter and syrup. 5. If you want crispy bacon, you are generally expected to order your bacon cooked crispy. 6. Just give up on the hot tea for American breakfast. Drink coffee, milk, or juice instead. IHOP has much better breakfasts than Denny’s, though Denny’s tends to have better dinners.

In the Great Lakes region, there's a breakfast-y chain called Eat'n'Park that's my go-to if I'm in an area where I don't know the restaurants and I'm in the mood for it. They sell frozen sausages wrapped in pancakes in supermarkets. I don't know if too many restaurants serve them. One of the nice things about America is you can eat your breakfast however you please. Put all that stuff on your pancake and eat it like a taco. Usually, the only condiment on the table in American restaurants is ketchup. You can, however, ask for mustard, hot sauce, steak sauce, etc. Personally, ketchup is the bastard sauce, so I'll go for mustard or something else if I'm feeling adventurous.
