Really good & you should try a stroopwaffle which is like a flat waffle cone that has got usually carmel in between two stroopwaffles & then you lay one on top of your hot coffee or tea or hot chocolate & it warms up & melts the Carmel a little & u can dip it in the hot drink & it's very good also.

Arby's used to sell the "Philly Beef n Swiss", a very good sandwich. But I had to move to the South to get even a half-good cheese steak. I made up my mind to make my own. Steak buns, Steak-Umm shaved sirloin, coarse-chopped onion/red bell/green bell peppers. Liberal mayo on the buns, break the Steak-Umms lengthwise, season, stack, top withh chopped veggies for cooking. (I use the oven.) 2minutes before they're done (about 13min), topmwith your choice of cheese. I use any of about 5 white cheeses. My grandson loves them.

I know a few cafes that do Amish food but it’s deep in Amish territory near Punxsutawney. Just be sure not to run into the breaking Amish cast. Hey there y'all, I'm originally from Delco Pa, with South Philly roots, thanks another great video! Pat's has always been a go to when in South Philly, and Pat's and Geno's are considered Tourist destinations. and yes there are so many great Mom n Pop Cheesesteaks throughout Philly, my other two go to spits are John's Roast Pork, there Cheesesteaks are great, but just outside Philly a little bit South in Delaware County (Delco) there is a multi generational family owned Leo's Cheese Steak's! Throughout Philly, Delco, Southern New Jersey all have great Mom and Pop Cheesesteaks Shops, I wish y'all would have tried some Italian Hoagies and Pizzas!! And for Cheese and Condiment choices, it's up to the individual, I myself like Cheese Whiz, with Cooper Sharp, Ketchup and Pickle's! And sometimes I'll add bacon n Russian dressing, kinda a Big Mac style Cheesesteak. Take care y'all, and safe travel's always.)

I have had Pat's, Geno's, Max's, Ishkabibbles and the steak place in Reading Market so far. Max's was the best. Wanna try Angelos and Dalessandros next. Pat's and Geno's are tourist traps to me. I don't like either and the cheez wiz, I just can't. I always drive to Philly from NYC to hang out. Next road trip I will try the other two.
@richardgazinia54822 ай бұрын
Any exit from Exit 8 down to the Maryland State line you can get off and get a good cheesesteak from NYC to Philly. Save time and get one in South Jersey.
@NHLCrazy20072 ай бұрын
This is the second video I'm watching since I just subscribed. Good thing I held off on mentioning these two cheesesteak joints on the other video, Yes, Pat's and Geno's ARE tourist traps. The high majority of locals do not go to them. They are not bad cheesesteaks and do the job, but many here go to other spots around the city and the suburbs depending on where you live. Most of those are family owned and unique, not where they are a chain restaurant. I know I mentioned Angelo's on your hoagie video, but it is great to see that you went there. Yeah, you have to order in person or by phone. No online orders. And yes, you have to wait for a little bit longer than most places because of how busy it is and that they make great food. Worth waiting for. Another thing... just call it a cheesesteak. My fellow residents will give you the stink eye if you say "Philly cheesesteak" while ordering one IN PHILADELPHIA. As I said in the hoagie video, Philadelphians traditionally get their cheesesteaks with just 3 ingredients... the steak, cheese and onions. That's it. Usually it is plenty flavorful without anything else on it. Oh, I'm originally from New York, but it is a big no no to tell the locals any comparison between the two cities that are less than 90 miles apart. There is no big decision to make. Out of these 3 joints you went to, it is Angelo's. Hands down. Glad you two loved it.
@thebritstry2 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! It's always great to hear from someone who knows the local scene. Angelo's is definitely a gem, and I appreciate the tips on ordering!
@NHLCrazy20072 ай бұрын
You're welcome! Angelo's is the only spot that can get rated ahead of John's Roast Pork, but those two set the standard. Jim's Steaks... the South Street location. It re-opened on May 1st after a fire gutted their place July 2022. See the Magic Garden space. Dalessandro's Steaks and Hoagies... it is in the Roxborough neighborhood of Philadelphia, roughly 15 minutes from downtown Joe's Steaks & Soda Shop... if you like a diner kind of setting. Be sure to get a milkshake with it. Woodrow's Sandwich Shop... they put a bit of a twist on a cheesesteak with truffle cheese In Philadelphia's inner western suburbs, try DELCO Steaks. Their original location is on West Chester Pike in Broomall.

Ketchup on a cheesesteak?? IMO It's steak, provolone or American cheese, possibly with fried onions and/or tomato sauce.

Out here in the central states, Kansas and Oklahoma, the restaurants will put green bell peppers mixed in with the onions on their cheesesteaks. I learned to love cheesesteaks growing up on the central east coast and there it was onions only. So I don't like the peppers on my sandwiches. I always have to request they leave out the bell peppers now that I live in Kansas. And if they can't, I get a burger. My cheese choice is provolone, swiss, or white American...never wiz. Now, the sauce of choice for me is something that is just a personal choice of my own and that's thousand island dressing.
