Brittany Dawn: Why Does This Christian Influencer (and Alleged Scammer) Think IVF is WRONG?

Brittany Dawn is flaunting her pregnancy on social media, a pregnancy achieved through a fertility treatment called Intrauterine insemination (IUI). In her nonsensical version of Christianity, IUIs are (luckily!) part of God's plan while a more invasive fertility treatment called IVF is "playing God" by creating "souls on ice."

I am not religious, but grew up in a religious house. I think they'd argue that the sin is spilling your seed, aka for the potential of pregnancy being destroyed. So if he's doing it for the purpose of conception, it wouldn't be a sin.

It does, but the context was the man was ordered by God to impregnate his new wife, but he didn't want to because that would put him or his sone out of the line of succession or something like that, so he "spilled his seed" ahead of time to lessen the chances. It was about disobeying God's will

@@msmollybk Under practices of the time, the brother in law had an obligation to Tamar (widow) to give her a child in his brother’s name. (Nitpick- Hebrew law technically wouldn’t be around until hundreds of years later with Moses, though it would continue this obligation. I forget if only kids or full marriage as well by that point.) Anyway, this child would inherit his brother’s property and keep the succession intact, as well as provide for his mother (the widow). They’re basically a human insurance policy. You’ll see the practice come up again in the book of Ruth, where Boaz needs to establish no closer relative has a claim to marry her. In that case, there is one but he chooses to let Boaz marry Ruth instead. The brother in law in this story chose to not perform this obligation. He instead used Tamar for his own pleasure, without giving her the security the practice was intended to provide. Some read it as anti masturbation- I have always believed it referred to him pulling out. That man exploited a grieving widow for his own pleasure or greed (either exploitive sex for funsies, or no children would mean the inheritance returns to the father’s family), refused to help her, and was killed as a result. End result, Tamar seduces her father in law that way and gets a son.

As a Christian, im not sure she is really in Christ. There are too many discrepancies in her behaviour. But Christians have different journeys so don't want to judge. As a Catholic, the reason IUI is acceptable and IVF is not is because in the process of IVF, embryos are created outside of the womb, and generally excess embryos are created and either frozen and/or destroyed. We consider those embryos as fully unique human individuals, and therefore discarding them is morally unacceptable. IUI does not create excess embryos

Great expose. The issue I see is most of what Britney dawn post online are conversations that should be between private relationships you have with people. Either it be a gma or a mother or a friend. But because this is the internet and there are millions of people, it is a given certain people will rise and you see these caricatures of people. And these people will be gripped by the internet, I'm positive they will have imposter syndrome because what we look at in a screen of our faces is 2d, yet we are 3dimentsional humans and when we put ourselves in a box and tailor ourselves to what we're viewing on the internet and through a screen we tend to embody that caricature. People who have to lie and hide from the truth and therefore reality are brok inside as I see it. Add on psychosis and the internet and online and you start to notice patterns.

With IUI the egg is fertilized inside the womb, with IVF it's done in a lab and put back, so I can understand that IUI feels the most 'natural'. Besides what she has done, she has fought for years to finally become a mother and I can't understand you don't cheer for another lady reaching that goal.
