Love these tips! Something I’ve been implementing is: act like your child doesn’t exist when they’re content in an activity. Let me explain! When my toddler would be independently playing, I was guilty of interrupting, complimenting, etc. I noticed that when I’d do this, he’d become uninterested in the activity. Maybe this is common sense but now I keep my mouth shut and try not to look at him and his independent play time lasts way longer!
@kamiifae2 жыл бұрын
Omg yes I'm working on that. I have the urge to just butt in.
@brittanybalyn2 жыл бұрын
Yes I do this too! I still feel guilty see her play alone - even though I know that is healthy behavior! ❤

Same. I noticed that with eating too.

Same here. I've noticed that if I let him play on his own while I'm cooking dinner then he's content for a while, but if I butt in it's game over and he's hugging my leg in the kitchen haha.

My favourite hack with my 19 month old - if we need to leave the park, or turn off a show, I will give plenty of warning (We will be saying bye-bye to the park in two minutes) and then once we have to leave I say "Let's say bye-bye to the park!!" and then I will wave to the park and say bye, he will eventually also say it, and for some reason it makes the transition so smooth! Maybe because it's like he has ownership in the process, he is deciding to say bye and he knows what it means.

I let my toddler cook with me 😅 I let her stir hot pots, wash stuff, hand me things, taste ingredients and seasonings, and she really loves it, and understands what "hot", "cold, "sharp", "spicy" "sour", "dirty" and many more things mean, knows how to peel clementines, egg, open a bunch of things, put things in the trash etc.😊 She's VERY independent, but prefers to include me when she plays, as I include her 😅 Also, she ynderstands when the house is messy, and points to the floor and says "eew!" 😆

Question How old is your toddler I never was comfortable with having any of my children cook with me until at least age four or five.....I always considered it dangerous and that they really didn't understand the concept of such dangerous equipment until around that age it's a wonderful thing to include your little one in these everyday things and if your Toddler understands that's great 👍

Currently have a 15 month old daughter and this video was so helpful. ❤️ My daughter loves turning off the lights when we leave a room. A nice little “chore”/habit that will hopefully save me a little money in the future when she’s older 😂

Great Tips. 100% agree on the smaller Santa gifts. We've done this from a young age.. also to get the kids to choose what toys to "donate" to kids who are less fortunate and you put them under the tree for Santa to take away :)

Hello!! What a great video, I have to try the whisper method. Sounds awesome.! Our favorite trick, always make a song for the thing your toddler hates, washing hands, changing diaper. They will sing while you do it :)

Adding veggies: if your child is eating tomato sauce, add shirred carrots, zucchini, eggplant, etc (what ever veggie you want) or puree it after cooking. My girls eat a lot of veggies this way and they love it.

So glad you made this video!! Right now, we’ve noticed that if we Only say options of different foods, she will say no to Everything 🙄🤦🏽♀️ But if we show her the foods, name each one & let her decide, she will pick it out. We’re trying to also teach the grandparents to do the same and hopefully it works. We worry when she doesn’t eat much 😣

To back you up on tip #10, I definitely “believed” in Santa for longer than I truly did because I realized I could ask this “magical” guy for ANYTHING. I would even say to my parents, “Well I’ll ask Santa for that one” thinking I was doing them a solid LMAO. But also love that tip for equality purposes. Great video and info, thank you!!

There's a say Talk to your kids as if they'd be your guests haha. My 2 years old speaks so polished and she's so freaking polite because of this that we get a LOT of compliments. Also and related that modeling modeling and modeling is everything in toddler parenting. My daughter is literally does and say every single thing after me, If you ever want them to do something just model it...

One of my earliest memories is of my mom's way of having my wait for an after dinner snack or dessert. She would tell me I had to wait for my dinner to be at my toes. So when I would get impatient she would poke my legs and tell me it was almost time. Lol I think I was about 4 yrs old and it worked like a charm.

In terms of chores and stuff my 2.3yo son puts his leftover food in the bin and then sticks his plate in the sink. He likes to take the bins out with me. He puts clothes in or out of the washing machine (front loader). He likes to try and hang the pegs on clothes airer. The bottom level is close to him. He hands me pegs or I hand then to him and he will put them in the basket. He also puts his nappies in the bin. He gets the box of wipes and the change mat when I ask him. He helps me hang towels up after the shower. Toddlers love helping.
