Ashley Holder I had the same issue with rainbow shelves, but I tried it last year when I got a new bookshelf and I found its not that bad! It helps make my bookshelves into more of a decoration for my room. There is still a part of me that wishes my series were together, though, so i get that it isn’t for everyone!

The Netflix version of Thirteen Reasons Why butchers the book. It does the book no justice and has given the book a bad name. I love the book but the show infuriates me.

@@nightingalex9754 Bookshelves and real paper books are really beautiful .. But truly how many times one read an already read book again and again ... Anyway you can have them as ebooks and read again ... But I think the true place where characters and story live is our brain / mind ... You read a book and absorb a whole world , characters .. They will always be there in your mind ... It doesn't matter if you have paper bound books or not ... And there are always ebooks if one too badly wants to have a big collection ... I would rather collect them in my mind ... One doesn't need money for that .. All you have to do is read .. simply read ... Read as many good series as possible and know about as many wonderful characters and stories as possible.... We haven't got unlimited time , have we ?

I have 12 mounted wall shelves, 2 for display, 2 for DVD/CD, and the rest for "real life", Travel, Knitting, series, other, Star Trek/Dr. Who, Manga, and coins. I also have 3 small shelf's built into the stairs of my loft bed with 3 box sets on one and the other two have knitting projects. BUT bookshelf tours, and especially this one, has inspired me to pick up a book and read for my own pleasure and joy again, so thank you! Great tour! I will suggest you should finish “1984”. I read it earlier this month and it instantly became a favorite. Also, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide...” is one of my favorite books ever! I’ve only read through the 2nd book, but I’m hoping to read the third soon (there are 5). Me: has tons of books to read, is in the middle of two (one of which I’ve been reading for almost 3 months and is over 1,000 pages), and is about to start a group read in 2 days. Also me: sees “The Fault in our Stars” **wants to read TFIOS for the (not exaggerating) 13th time** Great video, as usual. Great job with the editing as well. 👍

I currently store my books on the top part of a hutch. You know that weird hybrid furniture that's part dresser part desk part shelves. Anyways it's not a ton of space, but I have one small shelf with favorite children's books, the main center shelf has my favorite books of all time organized by color since they're all standalones, and then 2 other small shelves of books I haven't read yet one of hardcovers the other paperbacks in no particular order. Then my series books are on a shelf in my closet because I have no more room! When I move again I think I am going to invest in a bookshelf maybe to have in the living room or an office instead of my bedroom to store all of my books- likely by genre and author. I also aspire to have a Harry Potter shelf, but for now my hutch is sporadically HP decorated even though those books are in the closet.

Alrighty, first of all: ORANGE IS SO AMAZING I LITERALLY CRY EVERYTIMMEEEEEEE Second of all: I’m horrible at giving descriptions of anything so you might have to look up a synopsis or review if you haven’t heard of it. BUT!!!! I physically CONNOT recommend The Summoner Trilogy by Taran Matharu more than I already do!!! (If that makes sense.) Personally, it’s one of my all time favourite series and if your looking for a new fantasy book to read check out the first book The Novice!

I organize my books by genre too but I also do it by themes/atmosphere/how it makes you feel. For example I might have a YA fantasy section and within that I'll have YA fantasy with heavy dragon emphasis and YA fantasy that makes you feel warm and cozy. It's basically a "if you liked this, you might also like that" kind of setup.

The two small shelves i own are organized by books I'm excited to read, books i want to re-read, and favorite novels and series. The other shelf has everything else that won't fit; the order does change from time to time.

I'm like you, I organize by genre as well, though certain authors get their own shelf since I have so many of their books (Cassandra Clare, J.K. Rowling). I did just move and I'm remodeling my room and bathroom, so I'm going to have built-in bookshelves in my room and I haven't decided yet how I want to organize the shelves. Part of me wants to switch it up, but honestly I might just keep it the same. I love the look of color coordinated shelves, but then I'd have to split up some of my series and I would hate that. It would drive me crazy, lol.

I love The Bone Season books and it’s killing me how long they are taking to be released but there’s actually collectors editions of the books that you can buy going forward that will match the original cover design!

My books are really in any particular organization. Usually the "show off" spots I save for my favorite favorites that I usually reread. Then I have them together by author, but no particular way other than by author. Usually, I'll put my favorite authors first. Really it depends because sometimes I take them all off the shelf and reorganize when I need to relax and calm down. But I keep all my comic books and graphic novels together (unless it's a graphic novel version of a regular novel, then it goes with the author's stuff)and I have classics all together. And if the classical author has a mixture of novel/poem/play, I usually do novels, plays, and poems organized.

Every couple months, since I don't have a large collection, I change between chronological to alphabetical, by series names, by authors first name, last name, book title. Things similar to that. They don't look aesthetically pleasing to most because of the differences in height and size but I love making it different and fun looking

The Bone Houses is one of my all time favorite books. The romance is there but isn't the main part of the story. It's definitely very plot driven and it is so original in the folklore that the story is based upon. I 100% recommend because it is beautifully written and executed so perfectly.

currently because I dont have enough shelf space things kind of just go where they fit, but I do try my best to organize by book type/genre. so I try to keep all my graphic novels together, all my classics together, and all my reference books together, but I do also have a shelf that's all just mass market paperbacks. So if you wanna get into Manga, you may like Skip Beat(there’s even an anime adaptation) but it came out in the early 2000’s and it’s STILL on-going. It’s about a teenage orphan girl who wants to become an actress in the Japanese entertainment industry and has several arcs leading to her development as an actress. There’s also a long term unrequited romance that has finally been resolved(?)and confessing to each other. (After 42+ volumes of manga and nearly a decade of waiting, I KNOW.

I organize mine based on whether or not I love them 😂 The ones closest to reach are my favs! and then by authors, and how the book covers work together... And then it’s by genre... yeah it’s so random, but it works for me 🤷🏻‍♀️

I always do my books first by genre, then into chronological, and then into size. If I have space I might try and get them into colour combos. As long it doesn’t break the genre area.

I’m finally getting around to finishing this tour. And I wanted you to know that LJ Smith did finish the Vampire Diaries series. But she had to self publish them. They are on Kindle. It’s called Evensong part 1&2. The publishers wouldn’t let her finish the series the way she wanted to, so she did it this way to finish it the way she wanted.

The angelfall trilogy actually aged pretty well, i read them a couple months ago and loved them. Do you ever unhaul books you didnt like or felt very meh about or do you keep them all on your shelves ?

Let me note, Brittany, that I have shoes that are older than you are and that being old has some advantages. But being married can have some disadvantages when a spouse is not as interested in reading. My wife has moved many of my books into the storage space in my basement and in my garage. Her argument is that I have most of the books on Kindle so why use up the space? The little bit of shelf space that I have has the books I consider most important. That means that I have Dante next to Ovid and Homer along with Bulgakov, and Dostoyevsky. There is no fluff or girly stuff bit there is a lot of philosophy, economics, and literary criticism that I find to be part of the essential reference material that I use to support some of my arguments with friends and family. I do have a Sci-Fi section because I love libertarian-oriented literature. Tolkien is in that section because Tolkien is essentially an anarchist of the American type. I use his books to explain to the kids about the corrupting influence of power and tie it in with my Lord Acton essays and letters. I also have a science and theology section, again to use as references when I try to support some of my ideas in debates and arguments. The problem is what books to put in the limited real estate so I move a few things around here and there, particularly when I am examining certain themes. Having said that, I have more than 2,500 texts on my Kindle and add a few each week as sales are announced and the books and authors on my watchlist pop up. The good part with the Kindle is that all of your notes are accessible. I had a former student come to see me, search for Origen, and email all of the notes that I had on him and all of the information about the book, page, publisher, etc., that she needed to write her essay. The Kindle versions can be more useful that way because there is a lot more accessible information if you are a student.

You should def read An Absolutely Remarkable Thing soon! It's sci fi but definitely feels contemporary at times (and I don't love contemp lol) and I really enjoyed it! Audiobook is good as well! Plus great commentary on viral and internet celebrity culture.

I organize my bookshelf by language, series, authors and finally height. I keep the larger books, mostly artworks at the bottom.

I tend to arrange my books and manga by the order I bought them, but sometimes, I do sneak some randomly between so there won't be two books with the same height next to one another often or similar colors unless it's a series, since it makes it easier for me to spot the ones I wanna read in one glance.
