Did Britten compose this with recorders in mind, or was he thinking of other instruments? Your recorder performance is excellent and fits the music very well.

Yes it was specificly written for recorders. Britten was on a skiing vacation in Switzerland. When a friend was injured skiing and confined in bed, he wrote this for her.
