If you liked this cover from two years ago, I'm so excited to say I completely redid the cover and released an official studio version on Spotify! It's not as acoustic as this video but I'm so proud of it and I hope you love it: brittinlane.lnk.to/Pixies

i really enjoy both, but as feedback from a random, i feel youve overdone the background music on the second. your voice is the most impotant aspect of the song, the reason that people are here, showcase that. not the music :)

As I listen to this I think about driving through the middle of Utah. I was driving from LA to Michigan. I clicked on this song as I was driving through Green River Utah just west of these massive canyons and mountains. Highway 70 heading east at about 6 o clock in the morning. The sun was a sharp red and the sky was pink and as the sky got lighter and the mountain ridge became more present. This short 5 minute song made me pull over and absolutely lose myself in tears. It made my heart heavy as I cried and thought about how someday I’m going to die. I Will never be this young again. These mountains will stay for many to see and I’m here, this temporary youth. How one day I’m going to die. It made me think about something very clearly and correctly for just a fraction of a second : death is the best realization that anyone can have. You get away from: themes, ideas, trends, wanting friends, or a partner, attention, material items, everything that you want and everyone and everything goes out the window when you can solely focus on the fact that you will die alone. About a year ago. It was a clear thought. I remember when I pulled over, cried, got out of my car, sat against my car looking at the sun coming up. I sat there for about an hour saying nothing. Looking at the sun come up in complete silence. Nothing was on my mind, it was deafeningly silent out there, hundreds of miles in every direction, nothing. As you started to howl in your song I looked at this crisp ridge of sunlight coming and laying down on parts of the valley. I could see the mountains 200 miles away as it is fairly flat, you could see the sun touch down on land 100 miles in front of you where it is not yet to you , you can see the light laying on the ground in front of you. This song, this voice and the moment I was in in my life just made me realize. Time goes way too quickly, but it does so, just gracefully, not even so, it just is. There is nothing to ascribe to this thing just happening all the time. Time moving forward and your body ages and time passes and theirs nothing you can do but try and be as present as you can to remember as much as you can to take it in. To remember, by remember there is a sliver of hope that apart from your age and the moment in time you remember, you can remember how it made you feel to recognize what life may be worth living for. Why we do it, till the end. We do things, see things, feel things, whatever you live by, you will die by, so do it for what you think your life is all about.

@@-catalano4683 I never did any drugs to get through anything. I never ran way from anything. I’ve always just gotten through things. When forced to always go through what you’re going through. These levels of thoughts hit your own mind as it isn’t even sure what you’re experiencing because it’s so used to moving with force. The lightness between the ears that the moment of ease is settling over me because I just did the hard work. Getting through whatever I just went through... I’m met with moments like this one I had. Euphoria coming on the tail end of forcing myself to push through things. That’s why I do it I guess.

The peaceful nature of the vocals, of the whole interpretation, really makes those lyrics, "Where is my mind?" tell a new story. It's like a person who knows they've gone mad, but they're too mentally detached at that point to feel anxious about it. Intellectual realization, but no emotion behind it, so they just sort of... coast on that fact. Carefree in an eerie way.

This is my favorite cover of anything that I have ever heard. Its unique, personal and intimate. You really capture the message of this song and spill it out with emotional brilliance. Apart from that, you are able to really utilize space between the guitar and your voice. The most beautiful part listening to this for me is the fact that you paint us a picture, and a picture is a thousand words.... by this I mean yes, you are still singing the words written by the pixies but to me you are saying much more than the words written. I love how this is a "3 AM cover" too, we all know that space, its when the world quiets down for a little bit and we have had some time to just think by ourselves. It's the time of day where we are forced to just sit with ourselves, our thoughts, dreams, fears, demons, etc. Its truly a time where we have to ask ourselves "Where is my mind?" Anyways, I wanted thank you for this and you are just a stranger on the internet but these are the experiences that draw me to realize we are all the same.

Where is my mind? Where is my mind? Way out in the water See it swimming [Verse 2] I was swimming in the Caribbean Animals were hiding behind the rock Except a little fish bumped into me I swear he was trying to talk to me, he said "wait, wait" [Chorus] Where is my mind? Where is my mind? Where is my mind? Way out in the water See it swimming [Verse 3] With your feet on the air and your head on the ground Try this trick and spin it, yeah Your head will collapse if there's nothing in it And you'll ask yourself [Chorus] Where is my mind? Where is my mind? Where is my mind? Way out in the water See it swimming [Outro] With your feet on the air and your head on the ground Try this trick and spin it, yeah

I indirectly know your parents through WV and live in your home city, I have seen your dad's posts of your songs, today, I was lost in my work, listening to KZbin in the background half paying attention, my recommended songs, your voice started singing, I thought to myself, I know that voice, then moved on, later on within the song, I thought to myself, I love her voice, so I clicked back to KZbin and saw it was you, dear Brittin. Look at where you are now as compared to this song in 2016. I am proud of you and wanted to let you know your voice is stunning. Thank you for your 3 am posts, goodness, I can relate to being up at that time. Keep singing and pursuing your dreams. Carol
