Aussie living in North America here. Bullying is different back home. Everyone is expected to get in on it and give back as much as you take. And there’s nothing that’s off the table. It’s almost like a sport. That’s how we know you’re cool.

If you're a GEN Xer there was no bullying it made you stronger as you would either fight about it or you learned to ignore it. Heck, we make fun of ourselves. The problem with the younger society is they have no idea how to coup with things because they are always protected. What happen to let kids be kids and rub some dirt on it you will be ok. Now it's put on this bubble wrap and plug your ears so you don't hear anything that might upset you.

We Australians tend to be self-deprecating and can take a a joke at our own expense. As a result we tend to expect everyone else to be similar. What Fluffy here described wasn't really bullying as we would consider but a gentle ribbing. Usually, its fair to assume that if an Aussie is gently taking the mickey out of you, it's a sign they like you.

"Everyone does it" is the definition of bullying. You CAN'T bully if the rest of the kids stand up to you. Even if there's just one "bully", the fact he gets away with it means that everyone else is participating - inaction IS participation. If you don't stand up to the bully you are letting him get his way which means you are on his side.

Aus takes great pride for its multiculturalism, over 30% of Aus citizens were born overseas. It also has either the highest or second highest intake of refugees from EVERYWHERE around the world. They do take the piss, it's a form of acceptance, or greeting. If they like you, they will insult you. You are expected to insult them in return. All of this is done with a smile. If there's no projected humour, the insult is real. It is the number one rated Most Liveable Country In The World. Perth in Western Australia is considered the most beautiful modern, clean and sunny city in the world, 2.25 million people. The average is 8 hours of sunshine for every day of the year. Google; Perth and Swan River from Kings Park. Also Google, Lake Hillier, yes it is real, which is near Lucky Bay, voted Worlds Best Beach. Let me know when you land, I'll buy the coffee.

Where are you getting your facts and statistics from champ? We certainly have one of the best standards of living but we aren’t rated number1. We don’t take in anywhere near the most refugees and no one outside of Perth have ever considered the place at all let alone as number 1

@@macdac9861 thanks for wasting our time, but I'm not responsible for your ignorance. Are you a Reverse Flynn Effect victim? Australia was ranked World's Most Liveable Country a few months back. Perth was ranked by Forbes and Lonely Planet this year. World's Best Beach was Lucky Bay a few weeks ago, in fact Little Hellfire Beach was 17, Turquoise Bay in the top 50. Is there an adult nearby who can help you? WA provides 56% of Australian export income, it pays the bills. Only 2 States are positive contributors to the Commonwealth, NSW and WA. WA pays 8 times more per person than NSW. Victoria in particular is a parasite. WA is 4 hours closer to the rest of the world, it is in the same time zone as 35% of the world's money. Weekend trips to Bali are common, Europe, Asia, Africa are a MAXIMUM of 15 hours, while the Eastern States have New Zealand. If WA was a separate country, which will happen, it would be the richest country on Earth calculated per capita, beating out Qatar which superseded Switzerland this year. How about you find this stuff out for yourself, sniper? Are you always rude and uninformed? Add; Perth was also ranked number 1 in a survey of AUSTRALIANS, maybe Jan, Feb.

@@Quinctili education is Australia’s number one contributor to the economy and there ain’t much of that in WA. Not that I said anything about WA only Perth and your assertion it was considered the number 1. A quick google search tells you its all the Nordic countries at the top of the lists going back years so stop cherry picking stats/figures/studies that fit your narrative

"Bullying" is totally subjective, dependant on how "sensitive" the people around you are... If you're "the target" and it makes you laugh, it's Comedy. In Other Countries, people will either laugh or flip you off and walk away. Here, it'll start a Protest. In my Navy Day's, insulting each other was an art form and nothing was Taboo. In the 90's, the "Yo Momma's so..." jokes were common.... but at some point we got Thinned Skinned. No matter how "PC" you are, if you have a different opinion than someone else, they WIIL find a way to "be offended". It ends the discussion about the Topic and becomes all about how you're a bad person. Someone win's the argument by playing the "Victim".

The next part of the story involves him forgetting to pack the knife, and realizing when he was about to go through airport security that he still had the knife on him. Look for the clip “What if I’m a terrorist.”. Hilarious. Oh - that “country full of Daves” is not a reference to Dave Chapelle. Fluffy is talking about his tour bus driver, Dave. Look for a clip about Dave the bus driver, and another about Fluffy’s tour bus being stopped by Border Patrol at an immigration checkpoint. Dave figured prominently in both.

@BrittReacts I think that is a Mexican thing! It's not bullying if everyone is doing it. Went to Mexico on a vacation saw 15 kids hitting this man in his 40s? Thought what is this going on! Crowd was forming? Mexican Lady stepped out of the crowd with this small purse and a tiny dog! She put the tiny dog down, there was a rock the size of my fist off to one side, she picked it up and proceeded to shove it, in her purse. She closed her purse and as she started walking up to the 40+ year old guy getting beat, the kids all parted like the waters of the Red Sea did for Moses! She walked up to this man and swung that purse with the rock inside it upside his head! This Mexican Lady hit him several times until he went to his knees! She proceeded to look him in his eyes! It's like the dude wanted to say something but was to shell shocked for a word to get out? This Mexican lady then proceed to say this to him: Jorge, Jorge, I told you sh1t was going to get real if you didn't pay child support on your 15 kids!!!!! Maybe that is what Fluffy is talking about! LOL! It isn't bullying if everyone joins in! I think that's called a beat down????? Moral of Story pay your Child Support before your 15 kids and X-Wife catch up to you! Or sh1t will get real??? LOL

Back then it would refer to Australia being build largely by convicts from England, Scotland and Ireland. The idea is, if somebody "bullies", (and I use that term lightly), somebody else, as in Gabriels story, it is expected/assumed that the recipient will understand the humorous, (not malicious), intent and either follow up with a further self deprecating comment or even better, return fire with a "hopefully" witty retort. A returned insult will not be met with an offended or aggresive response, but rather a chuckle and appreciation of the wit and shared banter, whether it was with a friend or stranger. The same applies in a group. If one or two or more direct insults towards another, they are expecting it to be returned and/or redirected with an insult/comical observation of someone else within the group. To use today's mindset, the entire group are at any moment the potential bully and victim and the roles change with each exclamation. That's why "bullying" is not "bullying" if everyone does it. There's no real power in that dynamic. Everyone is equal and the unspoken challenge is more to see who can come up with the funniest line regardless of the target. It's banter, not bullying.

Wow the amount of non Australians that don't understand out culture. We say it as a joke and take it as a joke. It's like that show Wild N Out. It's about insulting each other and insulting back 24/7. The better the truth of the insult the better that friend is. I am slightly overweight and was at the beach. I walked up to this toned guy and said can you help me get back in I've been beached. He laughed yelled out to his mates. They came over picked me up and carried me in. That's Australian culture at its best. Not taking yourself seriously and then others joining in.

Australia was unwittingly colonised by a lot of Irish people sent their as punishment. English landowners wanted people who could pay the rent they were demanding and that wasn't the Irish. A lot of Irish culture was taken with them. There is this particular thing that Irish people do it's called slagging, essentially it's funny insults. The idea is to give as good as you get, that Australian fella was expecting Fluffy to say something like 'Oh look, it's Crocodile Dundee's love child, when did they let you cliché jail?' to generally take the piss out of him. When people visiting Ireland hear slagging for the first time they don't know what to make of it either and wonder why everybody is laughing?

No, I don't agree with Fluffy on this. If someone says something that upsets or hurts you, you ask them to stop, and they keep going, they're bullying you. If others join in, they're also bullying. That only makes things worse, not acceptable.

Sure . But this over emphasis on things hurting us has absolutely spoiled society. Not everything should hurt us?! If you're fat, and someone calls ya "Hey fatty", it shouldn't hurt you. It shouldn't. Even if it does make you uncomfortable, you should be able to laugh out back. That's how humans should be. We have gotten VERY soft and anyone who doesn't agree is either just attempting to be politically correct or is spoilt. I'm so glad it's still very light hearted here in India. It's just like Australia. We'll hurl casual slurs at each other and try to outdo the other person. Everyone's laughing at the end. We don't post a sob story on social media..lol

@@rajeebdas1724 Sure. But there is a difference between friends bantering with each other and total strangers throwing barbs at you, as he was talking about. Jokes are fine, and I laugh many things off, but it is possible to say something that offends me, especially if I don't know you or why you're saying what you're saying, and if I point that out and ask for someone to stop, I would expect them to stop. It's common decency, not spoiling anyone. We should stop encouraging people to toughen up and start encouraging people to practice kindness to have a world worth living in. In a world where we can be anything, choose to be kind.

Compared to Australians (and most of the world) American's are very easily offended. I;ve worked (in Europe) for two American companies in the past 5 years. Part of the onboarding is how you have to be careful talking to American colleagues and what they find offensive that, in Europe, is just how we speak

Been there twice, its a fantastic place but they do have a pretty bad history of racism with their own Aboriginal people. Overall though the Aussies are a super chill people who just live free and easy for the most part. If youve ever been to the coast you will understand why...just phenomenal beaches, rainforests, kangaroos, koalas so not too much to not like.

The problem today is people don't know what real bullying is. Any sign of contrariness is taken as "bullying" and is met with a flood of tears or rage. Snowflake city.

I agree 100%. People are becoming increasingly soft by the passing day. That's so irritating and frankly boring. Thankfully that isn't the case in India. It's pretty much like Australia. But if I have to be friends with people that I can't even casually troll? That's SO boring!!! What do we do then? Give each other compliments and pour sugar syrups?? 😂 So in the end, you're left with not just a soft, pampered individual, but a soft, pampered group!! I'd love to see the whole world become like Australia. No political correctness.

His a comedian, his using the term bullying for what is banter playing to his audience. No one in this country tollerate's bullying, we never have. Nor would anyone talk to large people with such disrespect. You might say his taking the piss out of himself. Banter which is more akin to British humour is a national sport, best not come here if your precious. The Dave's comment, that's his bus driver. On the make-up sounds a bit odd, you see darker skinned women wear make-up all the time. I find how American's view Australia and Australian's with intrigue. To answer my own questions I looked at several video's and was quite shocked at not only how tourism dominates the perceptions but stereo typing as well. Very few here are bogans I think is the term people use. Be rest assured Australians are not quite what is projected and are indeed very civilized, well educated and well travelled. There's a nice young American couple travelling Australia at the moment. Their YT channel is called One Pack Wanderers. They're smart on how they have gone about exploring this beautiful country, check them out. On the wilderness, video's check out Dan Proud, especially his Kimberley and Pilbara screenings and Saltywings and the Bungle Bungles. That will give you a better feel of Australia. Travel well 🇦🇺👍
