Made it all the way to the end of this video. This guy is offering no supporting evidence to his claims other than "trust me bro" Its not a matter of respecting or disrespecting the person. When he has no proof of his ideas or the ability to even explain let alone back them up, the idea doesn't command respect by default because he's presented nothing but blind speculation. This guy has thought himself into a hole and doesn't want to climb out of it. I don't think reasoning is part of his repertoire.

Love the way he repeatedly ends his ridiculous assertions with "You see what I'm sayin'?" You'd figure when the answer is invariably "No" that the penny would eventually drop, but for all this guy's strenuous thinking, it's clearly yet to happen.
@ianchisholm5756
@ianchisholm5756 6 ай бұрын
Phrases such as 'You see what I'm sayin'?' 'Know what I mean?' and 'Right?' are markers that the speaker lacks confidence in having their own opinion or is not used to being listened to. They're strong indicators of age, education level,or social status - e.g. teenagers use them and teachers don't.
@foulrot

@@ianchisholm5756that's not always true, if you're attempting to lead someone to a logical conclusion you may have to break your point into smaller points and then drive home the idea by asking them "you see what I'm saying" to have them confirm they are coming along on the trip.
@ianchisholm5756
@ianchisholm5756 6 ай бұрын
@@foulrot Point taken, but as a teacher I am v-e-r-y aware that 'You see what I'm saying?' often gets an affirmative answer even when the other person has not understood. People are very reluctant to admit that they don't get something or to appear rude by implying that it hasn't been explained well. An open question (such as 'So, what do you think about that?') is a much better way to check understanding and develop a conversation.

@@Lauren-zg9zo My point was that a 'yes' does not always mean that the person has genuinley understood. Social status, politeness and discomfort can often lead to people to apparently concur with a statement even when they disagree with it or don't understand it.

@cbooth2004
@cbooth2004 5 ай бұрын
One of his issues is that he is severely language-challenged. "Dimension" has different meanings, but he doesn't grok that. If we say an actor's performance is one-dimensional or presents a two-dimensional character, he thinks that it is the same as a concept in Flatland, and that is the same as a "realm" in a fantasy/sci-fi video or a Doctor Strange movie, and as in Brane Theory or a Calabi-Yau Manifold. He thinks that a cell is one-dimensional in that its purpose is singular (he is appallingly ignorant), and that that is the same as being in one universe or reality, à la where Dormammu or Shuma-Gorath reside. He imagines a connection between different meanings of words ant thinks he's attained an insight. Somewhere along the line he got the idea that Buddha contemplating his navel and leaping to a comprehension is an ideal he desires and imagines himself to be. He thinks that the apple falling is the point, not the deep study and applied intelligence that were the actual elements of the English kid's "Eureka!" moment.

Why use the convoluted discussion on vector states? Height, length, and depth are the first three dimensions. Time appears to be a fourth dimension. Dimensions 5 through 9 are hypothetical. Regarding this operative nonsense. If he believes there is a rift between our understanding and reality, what makes his understanding so concrete so as to overcome this rift? It is nonsense. There are states of reality that are difficult to perceive, such as the atomic level of a table. That is not a different dimension. That atomic level exists within the same four perceivable dimensions as the non-atomic level. The theoretical 5-9 dimensions may exist at the atomic level, but the first four dimensions are still there at the atomic level. I would argue that we perceive sight in 4-d. Time is observed because motion is observed.
