As cricket lovers across the globe sat back and watched the 2013 Ashes series descend into farce one DRS debacle at a time, questions were raised over just who, and what, was responsible for the techno-horror show. But beyond that, fans around the world began to sense a shift in the core values of sport. Once upon a time, the umpire's decision was final. Mistakes were made, but the game moved on. But with the advent of a raft of broadcast gimmicks, officials at the elite levels of a number of sports are under more scrutiny than ever before. And now these gimmicks have become an integral part of the games themselves. Reporter Matthew Taylor asks whether this technological impost on sport has gone too far.
