Very cool engine but the smoke box color is way off. GN used a combination of silver, white and graphite to color the smokeboxes and the firebox below the running board. GN railroaders called these engines "whitefaces" for that reason. Lots of resources to check on this if you want to.

Tonys Trainz, have you ever noticed or had any of your BLI Steam locos do micro surging while in operation? Its like a constant and repeated little stutter? If you have 20 or more cars in the consist you will really notice it on the last car as its amplified through the coupler slack.

Very attractive locomotive. Paragon 3 is a improvement over the P2, i just received a I1s decapod with P3 and there are several new sounds to hear, the long start up sequence is great. The negative on Paragon sound steam is that on higher speeds the chuff can not keep up. But if you are driving slower drag freights the sound is fine compared to my soundtraxx and loksound engines

Thanks for the review. The detail and running looks great, but that sound is just a huge let down. When will BLI upgrade their sounds? I was hoping Paragon 3 would have been an upgrade, but it really isn't. I don't like hearing the same sound sets on multiple locos. IMHO TCS or QSI or ESU need to make a replacement board for these BLI steam engines that will drive the smoke unit so we can get the best sounds in them. Coming from O scale sound is important to me and this one as it comes from the factory just doesn't cut it for me.
