A warm drink is very cozy. Calories are not added with herbal teas, decaf. beverages if taken without sugars or plant milks and so on. For some it can forestall snacking on foods high in calories. But, of course each person has to decide what is best for their journey. If drinking a warm beverage without very many calories is comforting, then go for it. However, if it is making you unhappy, then let it go. I wouldn't do it because of the calories, because if no added "extras" the calories are so minimal and after all this way of eating we don't count calories.

I don't think you should give up hot drinks if they make you feel good-just change to teas - I have loads of different teas that I drink for that warm and cosy feeling that you are craving, and they are hydrating and calorie free so why not? And alot of them are beneficial to our bodies too! Green tea, turmeric ,lemon and ginger, peppermint, chamomile, etc etc. Honestly. They help me so much because like you I struggle to drink just plain water. 🙂

Congratulations on being on Chef AJ' s. Thank you for sharing. If you need a warm drink, you might try warm water with lemon, lime, ginger, or a combination of any of them. I sometimes also do a combination of orange, lemon, ginger, and turmeric. I prefer more simple meals.

I love my warm drinks too but I have an unfortunate addiction to coffee. Now that it is 95 degrees every day where I live I’ve gotten hooked on cold brew iced coffee. Ugh! On another note I’m sure you all have noticed but Abe looks so much like your sister! WOW! He could be her kid aside from the hair color! 😊

The warm drink is something I also deal with. I drink water with lemon or lime and then at night I drink Traditional Medicinal Herbal Tea (caffeine free). Some nights I can sip on the lemon or lime water and be satisfied. It’s taken me 2 years to go from a coffee addiction, to black tea, to herbal tea and now some times living water!

I am so excited that your going to be on Chef AJ! Your going to be awesome! I used to never like to drink water but I am not a hot beverage drinker and when I cut out soda and juice I had to drink water. Now all I drink is water because I enjoy it more than anything else. It’s amazing how we can change usually slowly over time. I like my water with ice always even though it’s said that room temperature is best. It is hard to break habits even when the habits aren’t necessarily satisfying. I enjoyed the chat and love that your trying to get down to the root cause of your desire for hot drinks! Love seeing your sister! Congratulations to her on her tests!

I love a warm drink! I think a lot of British people are raised with cups of tea as a major part of life. We meet for a ‘cuppa’, have one when we are stressed, have ‘tea breaks’ at work. It’s associated with relaxation and comfort. I quite like a herbal tea as a change. I sometimes make a peach herbal tea and if there is some left I put it in the fridge to make a refreshing drink later. I think holding a warm cup is part of it, even if it’s hot water and lemon inside it feels comforting x

I like warm drinks too, especially in the morning. It is cold here! Not sure I have an emotional connection to warm drinks. I hardly ever drink plain water, although warm water is great instead of tea, etc. Maybe you will enjoy the warm drinks again. I find sometimes when things don't taste good or are not enjoyable for a while, they are sometimes enjoyable again after a break. I do find it disturbing when I don't enjoy the things I usually do, which is what I think you have been describing since you are not enjoying your usual warm drinks.

Love your videos ❤one tip for the overnight oats to save time…put oats on the bottom. No need to stir them, and they get fully saturated with liquid. Also, I often like a glass of hot water (this is sometimes shockingly yummy), or a fennel tea made with nothing but fennel seeds. I know what you mean about wanting something warm but not enjoying it…I feel that way about decaf coffee lately. Simple foods are my favorite! I guess that’s obvious from the name of my channel 😂

I love a warm drink too, one day as I was trying to love my warm lemon water, I just wasn’t enjoying the lemon, so I just had warm plain water, at first it was weird, but soon I came to love just plain warm water. Now it’s my go to drink. Also, my local water in Atlanta Georgia USA isn’t my favorite, so I buy spring water, I tasted many brands and picked my favorite, so that made a huge difference too. I love your simple foods, I can’t tell you how much watching your show has helped me. Thank you so much

Hi Ami! I was never a coffee drinker, but loved my tea. I decided to cut out tea due to the caffeine and being a diuretic. I’m cold all the time so I needed to substitute for my warm tea, so I switched to just drinking hot water. I still say I’m going to have a tea, but I just pop the kettle on and enjoy a mug of hot water. It fills the need for me, perhaps it will do the same for you. Thank you for your lovely content. I look forward to your Instagram posts and KZbin videos daily!

I can’t like water. To make sure I drink enough fluids but not consume calories, I make a cardamom, fennel seed, cumin seed and cinnamon stick mix. Make into a tea and allow to cool, serve with ice. This helps me appreciate my warm drinks in the summer months (I.e. early morning and night when it’s cooler).

Can't wait to see you on Chef AJ! Wanted to tell you I recently decided to give up chewing gum, which I was chewing constantly and knew it wasn't good for me. Ami, I literally cried a few times over letting that go. Sounds so silly, but It was so so hard for me!😢 But I'm about two months with no gum at this point and it honestly never even crosses my mind.😌 If you feel like hot drinks are something you need to let go of, then just know, a day will come when it no longer even occurs to you to have one anymore! Hang in there!😘

Thanks so much for sharing ❤. I normally have a matcha 🍵 in the morning. It does have caffeine but it’s slowly released and doesn’t give you the jittery feeling coffee can do sometimes. Thank you for this topic today. I was feeling somewhat as you are. Mine is sweet treats even though they are friendly treats, oat/banana cookies, and your chocolate cake or apple cake, even before your recipes, I tend to make them and can't eat just a serving, so I make more and it keeps me from eating the good veggies I should be eating. I have decided I need to take a break and not eat these sweet treats even though they are in line with WFPB, they get me into trouble and I am getting in too many calories. Thanks for all you do. Can't wait to see you on Chef AJ!!

Loving all the comments about hot drinks. I drink a lot of plain water, partly because I do spin classes at the gym, partly because I have a narrow oesophagus, so I could choke if I’m not careful. What about chamomile tea or hot water with a lemon wedge at night? You can even add those mint leaves from your garden. Or a slice of cucumber. During the day, I fill a water bottle with room temperature water {filtered or otherwise} and drop some mint leaves or cucumber or watermelon or oranges or whatever into it. I always end up finishing the bottle. At night, I'm all about the chamomile.

I have been a typical cuppa of tea girl and never ever thought I would ever stop drinking tea. I would have 5-6 or more a day. Yet here I am now, have not had a cuppa for 4 months and dont plan on it either. My reasoning is I work hard on getting my nutrients into my body ie veggies and such like, and caffeine leaches these nutrients and they end up unabsorbed. I did try other warm drinks and nothing could replace tea with a splash of soy milk, so I thought let me try no warm drink. Everyone around me is shocked lol . I love my Dr Brooke green smoothies now and have been drinking them in the winter too. I also drink lots of water now (which I also did not enjoy before). I began giving water more importance after watching a lecture by Barbara O’Neill on water and salt, whereby she goes into detail how the water is absorbed into the cells ….. worth watching some of her lectures. A very well educated woman who has had success with people she helps. 🎉

Thanks for sharing. Have you tried a warm ginger water? I also, like something warm in the evening. I started drinking hot water, but recently added ginger powder to it and sometimes add a little lemon slice to that. It satisfies my need for something warm, but the spice from the ginger feels comforting. I haven't tried, but perhaps a cinnamon stick to hot water might do the same.
