So basically if it’s a legit thing where pitchers are using the eephus as a serious pitch I mean they wouldn’t be only throwing it once in a while they would be throwing it a lot more then just a few pitches. And say you throw 20 eephus’s a game then over years of time wouldn’t you say that would help your arm?

The idea that a single casual toss done at random would throw off muscle memory based on literally millions of repetitions is silly at best and biologically false more realistically. Pitchers literally will toss a ball back the ump/catcher at random times all the time fornvsrious reasons. The mechanics of an eefus pitch are so far removed from a typical pitch that its honestly absurd to consider it "messing with his mechanics". Thats just a thing people say because it sounds smart but has no basis in logic or science . Its like saying that of Steph Curry randomly did a Granny shot mid game it would mess up his jumper. The only valid reason to avoid it is that the likelyhood of throwing it effectively nearly every time is slim and that would be required to make it worth while.

It's cool when I see double a players that I've seen make it to the show. Charlie Culberson played for the Richmond flying squirrels and I think Brock Holt played for the Altoona Curve. I remember both of them being great defensive players. Charlie would play just about every position other than pitcher and catcher.

Ngl Eephus is a good pitch. I threw it in a postseason game and the dude swung completely around and missed horribly to the point he accidentally chucked the bat and the guy in the on deck circle almost got clonked

I’ll never forget throwing one of these in an all star little league game 20 years ago. Ump called it a strike. Coach literally throws his arms up laughing like it was the greatest pitch ever. I’ll never forget it. 😂

I love the creativity. But the real advantage is not tearing rotator cuffs by wasted effort. Then when you want that fast pitch, it is with a fresh arm that used the last slow pitches to warm up. Very cool. Very smart.
