I think what people need to consider is this. The Niners are about 270 yards away for Deebo to get 1k and 190 yards away from Kittle to get 1K while BA is already there. As a Niners fan, I can confirm in the Shanahan era, we've never seen that. We've never seen a QB elevate his already talented guys more than Brock has. People are so quick to say Brock is helped by his skill guys, yes, sure, but what QB isn't? Have we ever considered that Brock has unlocked the potential all three of the guys can reach as a unit when they have a solid QB? If it was so easy, why didn't Jimmy do it? Why didn't Trey latch on? Why didn't the Nick Mullins and CJ Beathard's of the world do it? This guy has been what these skill players have needed and it's elevated the offense to another level. Brady tossed 50 touchdowns the first year he had Moss, Moss caught 23 of them. Are there any people who say Brady was carried by Moss out there? Maybe those two were just what they needed to unlock their full potential. Perhaps that's what Brock is doing for his top three receivers.

Let's be realistic, Brock has been simply remarkable. However, the notion of him as an MVP is quite bewildering; I've seen him without Debo. MVP candidates, like Pat Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson, are players who have triumphed despite the varying levels of talent around them. While Brock has been excellent in that system, elevating him to MVP status seems more like a compelling narrative for an underdog story rather than a reflection of his actual impact compared to those seasoned MVP-caliber players. It will be a travesty to real impact-type players compared to just a great distributor.

@philionet ok I would be with you however the context of the games is very important... Cleveland Purdy led a drive to win and the Kicker missed against the #1 Pass Defense in the league without Deebo Trent or CMC and Aiyuk was nursing a shoulder injury. Minnesota Brock was playing well until he got a concussion in the 4th and threw picks Cincinnati was really his only bad game and it still wasn't that bad compared to other QBs worst games... He was successful without those guys the team as a whole, Defense and Offense weren't themselves those 3 weeks

I have been watching football for five decades and have only seen a few quarterbacks perform like Purdy in their first year. One was Dan Marino, another was Russel Wilson and the other was Patrick Mahomes. I have heard great things about Stroud, but have not seen him play. Anyway, Purdy is in a very special group of quarterbacks.

This isn’t his first year technically. First full year yes, but he had a good end of the season last year and a full offseason with entire same unit. Obviously that still doesn’t substitute for his level play but I have seen plenty of other first year boomers. Cj stroud is also on that level right now and hurts literally went to the Super Bowl last year.

Brock really seems to have this uncanny ability to almost always make the right decision on any given play. Sometimes the result of that decision isn't great (turnover or whatever) but he works within the system Shanahan has created with these otherworldly athletes to do the seemingly most optimal thing with the ball. It's incredible to watch. I hope this team is able to keep this core together.

I disagree on that toss to Deebo for YAC that Brock had nothing to do with it, simply because that timing had to be perfect to get it to his hands and out in front of Deebo exactly in his insane stride and in the same motion, fake the handoff to CMAC that was so convincing, it caught a lot of the D flatfooted. That takes a lot of skill to get all that off at that speed, in such a small window with 3 guys.

The Skip Bayless and Nick Wrights of the world have such ridiculous and controversial takes because they know that it generates more views/clicks than being rational. I'm not condoning or defending those types of sports “analysts," but I understand what they do and why they do it. Because nobody can be a professional sports analyst, and truly be THAT delusional and clueless about sports, unless that is what the show's producers want them to be.

If you want to really, truly know how good that Brock Purdy is, and whether Brock Purdy is a game changer or not, it is very simple: Look at the Philadelphia game in Philly in 2022 last season (when Brock was injured), and contrast it with the game this year in 2023 against Philadelphia this season, in Philly. Case dismissed.

The coach and GM lay the blueprint out for success.. draft draft and draft!!!! Take advantage of a cheap QB( if you have that as an option) and splash on one big free agent every off season and one big/ decent trade at the deadline based one mid season team needs( with cheap contract or on team at least a couple year) sign a whole bunch of role players to one or two year incentive based deals on young or veteran players( get comp picks if they leave) and keep that machine turning until you have to pay your franchise QB.. which right now looks like we have one finally.

He's now a full season in. One question coming into this year was whether DCs with an offseason and tape would find some tendencies to exploit. Another was whether Brock would improve and how to evaluate his ceiling. It's safe to say at this point that Brock is getting better, he's distributing the ball at an elite level, and DCs have no answer so far.

@@crystalballers oh for sure… Brock is playing at a level we haven’t seen since Joe Montana, and I will honestly say that with confidence…. But this is the NFL and each season is different. And yes, I know cumulatively he has played a full season, but let’s be honest he hasn’t played a full regular season as a starting quarterback in the NFL…. I am in no way shape or form tearing the guy down… I’m just saying it’s really cool to see a young guy playing at this level and the fact that he’s only going to get better is even more exciting!!!

Chase…You had a pretty long career of 13 years, playing for a number of teams. Who was your favorite target to throw to? Jimmy Graham, Travis Kelce, Cordarrelle Patterson, DeAndre Swift, Adrian Peterson, Keenan Allen, Austin Ekeler, or somebody else? I have asked a few other former QBs, like JT O’Sullivan. For him, it was Megatron. Kind of expected.

What gets lost in everything is that he is literally in his second year. First full year starting. Yes he has weapons but he also needs to be able to navigate a complicated offense and make it work. Again, second year QB, and he’s more than exceeding expectations. You just don’t see that often, even from first rounders. And coming off a potentially serious injury last season. I think it’s weird he gets judged harshly by a lot of people considering his age and the fact that he was literally the last pick. What impresses me more is that he bounced back from those shaky three games to be even better. We will see come playoff time how he is but I’m just enjoying the ride for now.

In BA defense.. from the receivers standpoint.. you don’t beak that route back till you get the corner to pivot.. the issue is the corner was soo deep that by the time bs got close enough to make him feel threatened and stop squating on the route (which he was tremendously! If he ran that at 10-12 that is prob a pick 6 or ba playing defender unless he bodies him out well) Just bad play really.. ba did what he needed and so did Brock.. the issue is Kyle’s route needs to have room for an option incase the db is playing deep and squating hard in the inside like this.. Outside leverage squating hard to the inside at enough depth to not get beat deep.. got to have room for that to turn to a post. Break it to a bang 8 or something like that..

Something people don't talk about is ball speed, Purdy can throw 55.5 mph - but yet peope say he has no arm strength. Funny how he is right in the pack with several QB's, it is simply nothing more than his draft position that creates criticism and those that throw the criticisim also hate the Niners. Combine ball speeds: CJ Stroud Ohio State 54 (Left) 56 (Right) Aidan O'Connell Purdue 49 (Left) 49 (Right) Sam Howell North Carolina 55 (Left) 56 (Right) Kenny Pickett Pittsburgh 54 (Left) 54 (Right) Desmond Ridder Cincinnati 52 (Left) 52 (Right) Justin Herbert Oregon 55 (Left) 54 (Right) Jordan Love Utah State 54 (Left) 53 (Right) Jalen Hurts Oklahoma 54 (Left) 51 (Right) Gardner Minshew Washington State 55 (Left) 53 (Right) Daniel Jones Duke 53 (Left) 54 (Right) Josh Allen Wyoming 62 (Left) 62 (Right) Baker Mayfield Oklahoma 59 (Left) 60 (Right) Josh Rosen UCLA 57 (Left) 59 (Right) Lamar Jackson Louisville 49 (Left) 49 (Right) Patrick Mahomes Texas Tech 55 (Left) 55 (Right) CJ Beathard Iowa 55 (Left) 52 (Right) Mitch Trubisky North Carolina 51 (Left) 50 (Right) Cooper Rush Central Michigan 45 (Left) 46 (Right) Deshaun Watson Clemson 45 (Left) 45 (Right) Jared Goff, California 58 Carson Wentz, North Dakota State 57 Brandon Allen, Arkansas 55 Dak Prescott, Mississippi State 54 Nate Sudfeld, Indiana 54 Marcus Mariota, Oregon 56 Geno Smith, West Virginia 55 EJ Manuel, Florida State 54 Kirk Cousins, Michigan State 59 Nick Foles, Arizona 57 Russell Wilson, Wisconsin 55 Colin Kaepernick, Nevada 59 Ryan Mallett, Arkansas 58 Andy Dalton, TCU 56 Cam Newton, Auburn 56 Scott Tolzien, Wisconsin 55 Jake Locker, Washington 54

Notice Purdy didn’t cry like a little girl when he got hurt in the playoffs or the 9ers lost 3 in a row?

It does not take a rocket science to figure out how to play defense vs the 49'ers. You need to get in the face of every WR on every play. I never played a single down of football in my life. Just watch the game film .... c'mon man

No no. Brock is not that good. Nick Wright said so and he can do almost 20 push ups.

They’re all system players, it comes down to that system being suitable for the personnel., clearly it is. But sorry 49ers fans this is temporary, the adjustment phase is still in progress and then the development stage. Once the league adjusts then comes the development & you’ll be able to better assess Brock’s play. Right now the team is solid and mistakes are going unnoticed. Watching film he’s missed several primary reads, hot reads & and couple of TD’s due to setting up his footwork prematurely to look off and then come back to his target instead of actually making the reads. Definitely a solid QB unfortunately these weaknesses will become exposed by week 9-12 next season. 🤓

Purdy is making some pretty plays. Doesn't really seem to standout, but errors are very rare. McCafferty is even better this year. Playoff's here we are. D is good, entire team, really. Mahomes is who I am learning to hate.

LMAO if you think his play isn't a standout, your ability to assess talent is lacking

Not sure how you watch that game against the Seahawks and say nothing stands out. Purdy was creating some plays on his own.

Dak is leading now for MVP. He’s playing a lot better but not for the entire season. Brock is doing some all time shlit. System is completely rigged.

It seems that first int with Brandon, he was breaking back to the ball and Purdy though he was running through, more of a post rt.

Agree to disagree. They've went head to head twice. Brock beat him twice. His first time in a playoff scenario which had more pressure on the rookie (A rookie beat a 7th year vet). Dak is on his 8th or 9th year and still hasn't brought his team to the conference championships. EDIT: Dak (14th) also has the better OLine this year and Brock (21st ranked Oline) is still better at almost everything stats wise.
