When Purdy got hurt they lost to the Eagles. When the Packers and Lions should have beat them Purdy was the big reason they came back. He even played good in the Supeebowl. His QB stats (doing his job) are better than most. The team, and him, have a down year now he's the problem? If only every QB was judged the same way. 2 1/3 seasons, most with a great resume. I don't think it's throw in the towel time. I remember when Steve Young got benched.

I agree with you. People keep saying that if Purdy takes 50 million or more that the team will become a bad team. Do you notice how many pieces of the Bengals had to be let go (a lot of them being defensive pieces) after they paid Burrow 55 million a year, but nobody is blaming the Bengals poor defense on Burrow's pay day. Let it had been Purdy that got paid 55 million and ended up with a bad team, they wouldn't give him credit for putting up big numbers with his top two weapons like they do with Burrow.

You are wrong Jason. Kyle Shanahan isn't the answer. Brock is just his latest victim. Be it Matt Ryan, Jimmy G, Trey Lance, or Brock Purdy; Kyle always chokes in the 2nd half. The 3rd QTR specifically is when this happens, then the results of his decisions in the 3rd to not run the ball have him play catch up in the 4th. This leads him to be even more panicky and the playcalling doesn't work because he's panicking. And when you're panicking you can't make sound situational decisions. Brock Purdy was never going to be the answer for the 49ers. His fate was sealed when he was drafted. It would have made for a great storybook ending but his own coach didn't know the overtime rules in the Super Bowl. Jason, you're a chiefs fan. You bounty hit Brandon Aiyuk who will never play the same again because one Chief went high and one went intentionally low. You took out Brock's favorite option. We should have done that to Travis Kelce in the Superbowl.

The NFL has always has these kinds of QBs: Kirk Cousins-Dak Prescott-Brock Purdy types (Top 12 -15 QBs). They’re very high variance - there’s going to be seasons where they look like top 10/Top 5 QBs, there’s going to be seasons where they also look like they’re 20th best QB in the league. In the 2000s those QBs were Donovan Mcnabb/Tony Romo/Michael Vick/Eli Manning for reference.

Quiet as kept - Tom Brady comes from a filthy rich family. He was also a much bigger star and married to an A list model. Passing on money isn’t the same for Purdy as it is for Brady. On another note, Purdy is far superior to Dak, both in leadership and playing ability. Replaced him with somebody else on a rookie deal? If it were that easy they would’ve played Trey Lance. But it isn’t and they didn’t. Purdy is the real deal. While I would find it commendable if he took a pay cut, and I also agree he would have a better career long term, that isn’t reality - that’s la la land. Business is business and the NFL is as greedy as greedy is. And if they let him walk they’ll get ripped apart by both fans and media unless they get a chip.

Brock Purdy is a top 15 QB. Where he lands is hard to say but his so called highly paid offensive players around him are seldom on the field. At least he shows up. The other pieces matter on all teams. But on the 49ers those pieces are broken. I think Brock will take less than Dak who is a bust not as a QB but a bust at that price tag. Same as Watson , Lawrence, Rodgers etc There needs to be a team that lets these high price players go for the good of the team. We have seen how they use running backs as a plug and play spot. If you're talking about Super Bowl wins, you'd be hard pressed to find more than a handful of championship teams that didn't have a dominant defense. Defense gives the offense a chance to win the game. The Bills greatest obstacle to a Super Bowl win is their sketchy defense. You can't expect your offense to put up 35 or more every game. Eventually you're going to have to win a close low scoring affair.

I watched a decent amount of that game last night. I mostly watched it, even though I have a TON of respect for the Detroit Lions, to see mister BRAVADO "big balls" (according to all the Lions fans' memes of him wheeling a wheelbarrow with his giant testicles in it) "we NEVER punt and kick a field goal only on occasion - because that's OUR STYLE and we're just that BAD" coach screw up again, like he did in the playoffs last year, and WILL do again THIS year. Bank on it. I admire confidence, but abhor his arrogance and narcissism - to the point where it backfires and he STILL won't learn the lesson, and love when it rears its ugly head to fail. I turned it off after Purdy's second HORRIBLE interception. Despite Detroit's very impressive offense, San Fransisco could have won that game if not for the overrated QB.
