I have a feeling this is exactly how Dan and Diana's wedding went. :)

I can speak honestly and say that I did NOT expect the best breath support AND diction I have EVER heard on this song. And NO cheats.

If you've ever watched the Company recording video, Sondheim presses the singer to get the notes right - and she can't because of the tempo. This is the first version I've ever seen where the actress got the notes exactly correct while maintaining the incredibly fast tempo. That's Alice Ripley for you!!!! Awesome!

This is even more impressive because... well, it's Alice "never on key" Ripley. I guess she was really great before she started singing rock.

@@davidfathom3051 yeah, she wasn't always that off key. She used to be great until she started singing a lot of rock with her band and then Next to Normal was kinda the final nail in the coffin. Though, I saw her 3 times in N2N and she was actually pretty spot in all 3 times.

Wow. She stopped the show. (This song usually does.) But that's the best I've ever seen and I saw the original prod. on B'way in 1971.

I remember this production. This was one of the better scenes...Matt Bogart should have been shirtless

Did she opt up at the end? Or is that how it is in the original score? I’ve only ever heard Amy end on the tonic note of the chord, but I much prefer the way Alice did it :)
