Detroit Tigers reveal BEST MLB City Connect uniforms?

Much like the Astros’ Space City jerseys released a couple years ago, the Tigers’ City Connects honor their hometown nickname on the front. The dark navy jerseys feature an electric blue -- a brighter, more intense shade representing the future -- treading across the front beneath the white Motor City lettering. A racing stripe adorns the bottom of both sleeves as well as down the side of the navy blue pants. The shoulder patch recreates the diamond-shaped M-1 road sign synonymous with Woodward Avenue, which passes just outside Comerica Park -- the stadium address is 2100 Woodward Avenue -- and runs from downtown Detroit north and west to Pontiac. Put the patch in a different light, however, and the 1 becomes the center digit in a 313 logo.

The jersey’s debut Friday will mark just the first regular-season game in which the Tigers have worn blue jerseys since 1995, when they wore blue alternates for one game only. They actually had all-blue road jerseys in 1905-06, Ty Cobb’s first two seasons.
The uniforms seemed to resonate with players, particularly those who have been in the organization a while.

The three local TV channels with social media all share a common opinion about the hats. The comments call them the generic hats you get at a gas station. At the very least the old English D should have been ghosted onto these hats & WHY waste the Tiger on the bottom of the brin? Feature it on a main area of the cap. The M1 (for Woodward Ave.) also features the city area code (313), but the 3s are in way too light gray or silver. Like the Nike Vapor jerseys...too many poorly executed design elements.

My initial thought is the jerseys are nice but the hat just seems plain. Then I found out the hat has a blue tiger design under the brim. I don't know why they decided to put that really cool design under the brim cause nobody is going to be looking there but it does make the hat a little better.

Brodie, you have done an excellent job documenting what garbage the new Nike Vapor jersey "template" is. Well, all these 2024 City Connect jerseys are using that same layout. NFW would I buy any MLB jersey until Fanatics & Nike have fixed the quality + manufacturing issues with these replica uniforms. I'm from Detroit & I can tell you a lot of the local reaction to the CC jersey is it should have featured Tigers Orange over the Deep Navy or black shade. Many also think it looks way too much like a soccer jersey & might have been trying to borrow the NFL Lions colors? The only racing stripes are the blue (with tire tread pattern) running on the front of the jersey & the ones on the pants. The strobe effect off of a solid pinstripe borrows from late 1960s early '70s muscle cars. The angled stripe pattern on the sleeves is something seen in safety areas of manufacturing plants or on the road construction signs (only using black 'n blue over yellow/black or white & orange). With the Vapor jerseys relying on dye sub printing over embroidery on the patches... the M1 / 313 has issues with the 3's being way too light gray / silver.

I’m a Tiger fan here in the D. I’m 59 and anything other than our traditional uniforms is gonna get blasted out of the water. I sorta like these. It’s different as most of the Connect jerseys are- not really digging the cap but I think the younger generation is gonna eat this up. P.S. we need hitters..#RepDetroit

The jersey is ok, the Mets and Rays have the best city connect. The hat is a huge fail. They sell Detroit hats like this at gas stations. The should have used the tiger eyes or the M1 patch on the hat. Or better yet, instead of a new city connect jersey just use the Detroit Stars negro league jerseys they already have.

I just kinda liked baseball when it was baseball and baseball cards. Sure, I sound 100. I'm only 45. The impetus to create these really had nothing to do with anything except putting new gear in a team shop so people can continue to put money in the pockets of Nike. I used to love getting a "pro hat" back in the day. Now they'll put anything on a 'fitted' hat as long as it says a team name and New Era. The unis are lame. Whatever. I don't sit around all day and yell at clouds. I love progress for the sake of improvement and moving forward, but are any of these jerseys an improvement over the proper home whites? Not a chance. Just more crap to buy. And these still look like the cheap Nike trash of 2024. These companies can never get enough. Multi-billion dollar industries between Nike and MLB and all they want to do is dunk on enthusiastic fans. I miss the 90s.

I think these are some of the worst. Hat is as bland as could possibly be, and the jerseys are as bad as the pistons road kill jerseys. Wish they’d actually try something with all these newer instead of just black and dark colors. With the meijer logo on the sleeve it feels like a promotion they’d give away to the first 5,000 fans for a Tuesday day game in September
