Outstanding. I have 35 Cornish Cross that I will be processing in about 3 weeks as we are in their 5th week of growth and doing well. For our little homestead I process about 70 per year for freezer camp. You are so organized and keep sharp knives. I’m a one man show so I have stations and little help but am totally exhausted after. My first year I hand plucked and that about killed me but my chicken plucker has saved my life. I am thinking about having friends help me and I will give them chicken for their help. As you know each bird is so valuable and takes such energy to acquire, raise, butcher and package that I hate to part with them. I don’t sell but I’ve been offered $50 per bird which are 7 lbs birds. I think I might sell 5 to recoup my purchase and feed costs. I subscribed so look forward to seeing more thx

It’s awesome that you’re doing it to fill your freezer! It’s so rewarding to eat good food that you grew yourself! My suggestion would be to find one or two volunteers for processing day and offer a chicken each in payment at the end of the day..it’ll be worth it. People like to learn and if you have time to teach that’s part of their payment. It is definitely exhausting to do it all yourself! Thanks so much for watching! Stay tuned for more!

@@NorthernSunMercantile, that’s what I will do. There is a family with kids that want to help so it will give me peace of mind. I’m 70, and it’s snowing outside as I live on a ski resort in Utah and just can’t be outdoors all day long. Next time I will time it better. Great content and keep up great work

Great content and very informative. As a duck hunter for more than 30 years, this is exactly how I have processed ducks. The scalding, plucking, separating of parts and vacuum packing will definitely come in handy with processing Cornish Cross for personal use. Thank you! Liked and subscribed. How many acers do you use and approximately how many broilers do you raise annually?

Thanks so much for watching and subscribing! We run our chicken tractors on around 4-5 acres. 700 birds per year although we hope to expand that next year. I’ve done batches for my personal use of 40 birds on less than a 1/4 acre. It doesn’t take that much space although they will burn your lawn a bit temporarily. It does recover quickly though. Stay tuned for more videos!

Absolutely wonderful job showing the process, including a few tricks I hadn't seen before, such as twisting the head off & hooking the legs through the skin. Thank you!
