I can't stop but think... Could this be "the breaking point" that broke the prophecy of Giants? I mean this was the instance where Atreus truly could see, front view seat, what Odin is truly capable of... That he cares for nothing but himself. It was different when Odin invited him to Asgard, though Huginn did drop him outside of city for whatever reason(though i suspect that he wanted for Atreus to see Midgardians he so selflessly saved, to earn his trust), because there he just played a "good, misunderstood guy". Not to mention, that in my opinion, Brok considered Atreus and Kratos his people(family). He remembered that if not for both of them, he and Sindri would have never reconciled. And i also think that if Brok could see treatment Sindri gave to Atreus and Kratos, he would slap Sindri himself. I mean Sindir blame Atreus and Kratos(but mainly Atreus) for Brok dying, totally omitting the fact that it was Sindri's stupidity that cost Brok part of his soul. But back to original point. Since Faye was obviously capable of seeing the future herself(since, as far as i understood, the last shrine, where Angrboda takes Kratos and Atreus, was, at the very least, altered, the OG ending they envisioned ripped out by Faye(even Angrboda said that she went against their own people), yet on the other side was a very different result portrayed. So Laufey, somewhen, somewhere, somehow gained the ability to see the future, then she travelled to the last shrine we saw in Ragnarok(and possibly Jotunheim as well), ripped all the shrines that portrayed "Giant crafted" future for Kratos and Atreus AND managed to leave one shrine behind where her vision was portrayed.

This ending is always rough. Everyone won. There were plenty of sacrifices, but even those who lost someone or even died themselves, did so with the promise of a brighter future, either for themselves or for those whom they held most dear. Thor's family lost him, but they became free from Odin, and got to see Thor finally be free of his father, even if it was but for a moment at the end of his life. Even Surtr, who became a monster and perished as a living weapon, went gladly if it meant keeping his wife safe. The only one who honestly only lost was Sindri, in seeing Brok die. He's the only one who sees nothing to celebrate, probably the only one who can honestly say, if given the chance to lose everything "gained" in their struggle, would gladly do so, if it meant his friend was still with him. He knows he can't say that aloud, to be so openly selfish, but everyone knows and understands, that Sindri's the only one who lost far more than he could ever gain. It's as if Kratos had lost Atreus: it's the one thing he would never have been willing to sacrifice, and the one loss he could never forgive. Horrifying to watch a person completely break like that, worse to know there's nothing that can be done to help him, except hope and wait.

There are so many things about this scene that i feel aren't given as much note but maybe it's just due to how the comments are. First, it really is uncanny how well they catch the 'truly at peace' look the dead are said to have. Stories on stories i've heard of people who have seem someone after they die and mention how peaceful they look. Second, All fair credit to atreus, He could not of made that shot. Freya not only has experience on him as an archer in general but she has probably done this exact thing dozens of times as a Norse vanir/aesir goddess. Third, Honestly Given all the expressions we see in this scene, one thing i feel is that it's very likely Sindri and Kratos have a genuine chat without saying a word. The way Sindri's face moves you can read so many feelings out of him, his shifts, his exhastions, and at the end you can just see there's this weary resignation. We don't get to see Kratos' face because obviously the focus is on Sindri, but I have to imagine his eyes and subtle shifts speak volumes to the man. Lastly, I've seen noone speak about the Meta joke they slip in at the end. "I wrote that dirge, for him." Yeah, you did. Literally that's Bear, the man behind the music in the game. A lot of people do know that but I don't think many catch that little meta joke. Also just, "Something Profane." absolutely fitting for Brok. Also, while I don't want a brok clone, I do hope we might see someone similar in the next game, whether we follow Atreus or Kratos. For the obvious brok references. "You remind me of someone I knew." "huh, Must of been an unfriendly bastard If i remind you of them." "Honestly, was one of the nicest people you could ever meet." Just the quiet turn from this new character in confusion.

The wastes of shiul of ancient jewish myth and the duat of egypt (honestly they may be one in the same just different names. The histories of both mine and the egyptian peoples are so intertwined it is likely we share roots in our ancient myths). It might mean one day we will find him there but if we are going to Japan or India next then it may be a while. We know when he was there Thoth told Kratos that he would have more there to do in the future and considering he is a god of wisdom depicted as knowing the fates after all as his feathers were literally used to weigh the worthiness of ones life, it is likely we will be there at one point or another. That being said, if he is really causing a ruckus in a land known for housing a literal demon god of chaos, he is already going to be somewhat of a legend there by the time we get there

As is tradition in Norse funerals. They did a high shot, usually using a star of some kind to assist with aiming, specifically to make it more likely for the arrow to hit the boat and stay there by coming down on the boat instead of hitting it from the side. Even with the stars and angle making it easier to hit where you want, it was still extremely difficult and the shot was always entrusted to the most skilled archer in relation to the departed, it was common for them to practice that specific shot well ahead of time to ensure that they don't miss. Also going out on a flaming boat is metal as hell.

I think Sindri, despite hurting, felt a confused type of pain when looking at Kratos; yes, he lost Brok, who can never get a proper afterlife after Sindri tried to put him together, but, in a way, he would have never been reunited with his brother the way he was if it weren’t for Kratos and Atreus’ quest. What hurts more is not only did he get to reunite with his brother, but bringing in Kratos, Atreus, and Mimir means that he developed a family of sorts, especially when it came to becoming the closest thing Atreus has to an uncle. Sindri feels betrayal the most, but he can’t fully reconcile his emotions with the journey Brok and Sindri had with the others.
