Here we have some awesome Kone Ecodisc lifts that are very fast/efficient, well built, sound absolutely awesome and are lots of fun to ride but unfortunately they are rather unreliable, if not under maintained. There is always at least 1 broken lift in this car park every time I come here. In this video, when I waited for the first one I rode to come back to my floor, it got stuck on the ground floor and tried to move but failed and went out of service.
I think one of the issues is that since these lifts are outdoors, sometimes water can leak into the shaft and since these lifts are MRLs, the motor and other vital components are in the shaft so the water may be disabling vital equipment forcing the lift to go out of service. From what I can tell outdoor lifts are out of service more than indoor lifts can be and I think that could be why.
The reason why the call buttons don’t work for the even-floor lifts on the top floor is because they disabled them for when they were doing work around where the lifts are
Controller - Kone LCE microprocessor
Motor - Kone Ecodisc MX18 gearless synchronous AC VVVF motors
Floors - all floors lifts :10(-1, 0(store level), 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) even floors only lifts: 5(0, 2, 4, 6, 8)
Voice - older Kone voice
Doors - All floors lifts: Kone single speed centre opening, Even floors lifts: 2 speed centre opening
Fixtures - Kone KSS 140 vandal resistant
Amount of lifts in each bank - set of even 5 floors lifts and 2 individual all floor lifts
Maintenance company - Kone or generic?
Capacity - even floors lifts: 2000kg 26 persons, all floor lifts: 1275kg 17 persons
Fault - Unknown. Equipment failure?
Aftermath - lift out of service awaiting repairs
Lifts broken - both all floor lifts
Fire alarm - Protec addressable system
Call points - KAC Protec addressable MCPs
Sounders - Protec sounder strobes and Protec smoke detectors with integrated sounder strobes in the stairwells
Smoke detectors - Protec optical smoke detectors (some with built in sounder strobes)

To be honest my previous video of these lifts is better as it shows more lifts, though I only took one ride in each due to the pandemic so here is my previous video where you see more of the lifts though it isn’t as up-to-date as this one is. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKqcap5rp7Wja5o

Yes, these are nice lifts, but they are certainly not very well looked after. People bash the trolleys into the doors and walls, and when one lift breaks down, it takes them ages to get round to fixing it. The all-floors lift right next to the big even-floors lifts was out of service for over a year. Covid might have had something to do with it but they didn’t even bother turning the lift off or anything. These lifts are around 13 years old now and being in a busy car park, its kinda inevitable they’d be a bit beat-up. They annoying disabled advanced door opening on most of the lifts too which kinda sucks.

If you had the keys to the logic you can restart it and so it would work again

Parada de Emergencia it would be cool to do that though it is best to just leave it to the engineers to sort it out in case something goes wrong when trying to fix it. I actually did try to fix the lift at school once with some teachers by rebooting the lift but unfortunately that didn’t fix it.

Few reasons, mainly just wanted a name that was a bit more personalised and something that is able to be used in other fields of interest and not just what I’ve uploaded on the channel.

Kone and a generic company both maintain them, my dad went to repair these lifts apparently the generic company is keep messing around with the original settings how it should be Kone Ecodisc settings then yeah, the lifts keep breaking because generic company keep fucking about with them as they probably want Asda to pay them so much money to turn these awesome lifts into some not as good cheap generics!

TheFurryLando-_-YT From what I know, Kone are quite infamous for their menu disablement system in their controllers where the menus on the controller are blocked after the lifts hits about 10k car trips, and the only way to bypass it is to use Kone’s service tool, which is why quite a lot of companies modernise Kone lifts. I also wonder if these lifts break down often possibly due to water damage since these lifts are outdoors. I notice that outdoor lifts are more prone to breaking down than indoor lifts. A good example of this would be the one outside the Hive which breaks down significantly more often than the interior ones that hardy ever break down at all. Out of interest do you know the name of the company that maintains the lifts aside from Kone?

They all seem MRL, you sure they use MX18?
@blue.light.fazbear

They are all MRLs, I thought they were MX18s as they have a similar capacity though they could actually be MX20, but I’m not sure

@@blue.light.fazbear MX18 is an MR motor, the monogoods in the video should be MX20. The monospaces are probably MX14, but I'm not so sure.
@blue.light.fazbear
@blue.light.fazbear 3 жыл бұрын
@@elevator_satellite i had a look on Elevatorpedia, and the MX18 has a maximum capacity of 2000kg (if it is 2:1 roped, which it likely is here), the lifts here have a 2000kg car capacity (apart from the smaller lifts which only have 1125kg) so unless the weight rating is only including the car capacity i suppose that was why I assumed it was a MX18, however as you said they are only used on machine rooms (usually on MiniSpace or as replacement motors on modernisations). I had a look at the NMX 14, and i think the capacity on that motor is a bit too low for these lifts. I think it’s likely MX20 or some type of MRL version of the MX18.
@elevator_satellite
@elevator_satellite 3 жыл бұрын
@@blue.light.fazbear Elevatorpedia is mostly incorrect when it comes to KONE motors. You can trust me, I have a KONE NMX11. MX18 is a MR motor used for mid rise installations where mostly the speed is over 3 m/s. It can also be used for giant freight lifts which can't be MRL. MX20 is the most powerful range of motors for MRL. The monogoods probably use that since the capacity is 2000kg. MX14 (not NMX14, that's wrong), was probably used for the monospace in the video because the capacity is 1275 kg. The MX14 can do 1350 kg at 1.75 m/s, or 1600 kg at 1.3-ish m/s. So I've just rewatched the video and there was a clunk on the monospace, which means that it must be also MX20, but the less powerful model. Ecodiscs can be confusing sometimes, you have to really get into KONE stuff to be able to understand all of those motors haha.

Kone usually are one of the better lift companies, maybe it’s just poorly maintained by Asda ?

I’m not too sure really. I also have quite high standards for Kone, mainly because they, in my opinion, make the nicest lifts in the UK lift market, though I have heard other cases of older Kone lifts having reliability issues, some of them even get modded for those reasons. I’m not sure if it is the lifts themselves at fault here or if it is more to do with the Maintenance of the lift. Usually both factors make the difference in terms or reliability. One of the reasons could be because the technology Kone use on their lifts are proprietary, aka closed protocol or closed source, meaning that it will only work with Kone equipment. Kone, similar to Otis and Schindler, have this hook in their control systems that prevent access to the lift’s settings on the engineer’s control panel unless you have a special device that is plugged into the control unit which only Kone have access to. This is often a technique to get the lift owners to stay with Kone’s maintenance service as at that point, only Kone can maintain the lift at maximum ability. If the alternative lift company who isn’t Kone doesn’t have anything that can disable the setting locker then they won’t be able to access vital settings and data needed for maintenance routines and even if they did manage to access the locked content, they can’t use 3rd party/generic parts to repair or upgrade the lifts as, being proprietary, it will only work with genuine Kone products which can be difficult to source from an outsider company, thus preventing them from fully being able to maintain the lift without help from Kone who may insist on having a proper contract with them. Some Kones, thankfully not these ones, often have their controllers replaced with ones from the new maintenance company to make maintenance much easier. So these reasons could be the reason why these lifts are often breaking or it might just be lack of maintenance from the owners.

Asda never maintain their lifts properly, and as its a Kone, this lift must be breaking down all the time. Monogoods lifts are very unreliable most of the time, I'm not a big fan of these lifts tbh
