Hope this movie gives heterosexual people a greater understanding of how deep and real gay love can be.I grew up in the 1960's when being gay was illegal. I met and fell in love with my partner in 1966, We lived together until he died of cancer in 1988. We used to tell people we were brothers unable to be honest with the world. I grew up listening to boy/girl songs all movies about boy/girl love. I was popular with girls, had girl friends, sex on a few occasions, but realised I could never marry, could never love another woman other than as a friend. I realised, despite the restrictions I needed to be true to myself in order to have a happy life. August 19th 2023 would have been our 57th anniversary and my love for him remains as strong as ever and memories of good times we shared helps me through the day at 83 years of age.I quote Thomes More "Love rules without rules" and Pablo Neruda "Love is so short forgetting is so long" Latter quote will resonate for anybody gay or straight who has lost a loved one.

I was raised and grew up straight. Could maybe relate to not getting with someone I liked but as I got older, things changed. Being a horror fanatic, watching a movie like this was a stretch. I still can't describe what this movie did to me, how it made me feel and where it took me in terms of a different side of my sexuality. I still cry, and feel for all those who can't be with the one they truly love 😢

3:03 this moment right here hurt. They both felt a little broken, their whole lives, and each heartbreak, each goodbye, each missed opportunity, cracked them a little bit more. The only glue they had was the love they shared up on Brokeback. But that love wasn’t enough to put all those little pieces back into place..

and it’s especially more painful because ennis now lives with the regret that he could never express his love for jack the way he always wanted to, now he just has to live alone with himself for the rest of his life, broken

For me it was the subtleties that spoke so loud in the acting that made it so heartbreaking. I mean you hear the plot and sure it sounds sad but the acting was out of this world. The best performance i think came from the woman who played Jack's mother. She said so much with so few actions and words. I never thought the words "you come back and see us again" could make me bawl so much. Both she and Ennis knew he'd never be back but (to me) she was saying "i see you. I know you were the love of my son's life". Then there was the moment she put her hand on Ennis' shoulder and of course the silent way she and Ennis communicated about him taking the shirts. I could go on but this is long enough.

It’s nearly 20 years since this movie came on the screens in 2005. I remember how criticised it was in my community when it has won the oscars- a gay movie. I was a teenager then, didn't understand what this all fuss is about, didn't even know what my sexuality is back then. Yet, 10 years later I was in a committed gay relationship that we decided to keep in secret because our families are strict catholics and would just wipe us out from their lifes if we said the truth, that we're not just best friends and flatmates. And this all hiding thing- lies, pretending, never feel ourselves in public just destroyed us. We couldn't be happy together and just live our lifes because of the stress that we're going to be found out. And after 10 years of this we broke up. We didn't make it because of a constant fear. We're both alive, living our lifes separately in different countries but what we had...it was to last but it didn't. And this movie resonates in so many ways with these 10 years when we were together, hoping one day we could live somewhere just normal, just as we are. It didn't happen for us...but life goes on, yet I will never forgive myself we didn't stood up for our love and just tried to live openly. For ourselves. When I look at openly gay couples I admire them. And to all young gays- fight for yourselves. It’s worth it. Don’t mind others opinions and beliefs. Believe in what you feel. Don't let them to burry you alive.

I stopped myself from watching This Movie for many years, despite the fact that it was well-known and considered iconic. Today I finally decided and.. God, I haven't felt so much emotion from movies in a very long time. It might not have been so heartbreaking if Jack had died a natural death, but they showed us.. He lived trying to fight for love. For many years he tried to persuade Ennis, he believed so much in their love, so believed that they could do everything, but he refused time after time and now it doesn't make sense.. To be honest, before his murder was shown, I didn't even believe it. I thought he'd moved out, and his wife was cheating. But no. And I'm terribly sorry that, most likely, no one ever found out that he was killed. Imagine his emotions at that moment, how much he did not manage, could not. This movie just broke me into pieces and I'm unlikely to be the same. It's just impossible to forget, especially when you know that Heath is dead. He was a truly great actor. :(

From what I interpreted, the father said he was going to bury them in the family plot, but the mother let him take the jacket and shirt as consolation. I wish we could’ve seen Ennis scattering them on Brokeback to get closure, but this version of the ending is more tragic
