The engineers stand upon the shoulders of the men that came before them. It would be interesting to see what engineers would come up with for a drive train if they had no knowledge of past transmission designs. You could actually do it now, because many mechanical and design engineers coming out of college have as much automotive transmission knowledge as I do ---Ziltch.

It’s all somewhat simplistic if you take the time to understand what’s happening. A key learning tool to understand how it works is to find a really good diagram/video that explains it all

Awesome video, Alex. It goes to show that even if you're an expert on certain things car related, like you are with tuning, nobody can be an expert on everything. I consider myself to have decent mechanical knowledge, but I was confused for pretty much the entire video looking at the inner-workings of the 6R80.

this shop gave me a 1700 quote for paxton installation which is insane. many reputable shops install positive displacement superchargers for way less and its more complicated.
@aggieforester056 жыл бұрын
Centris are not less complicated to install. I still had to take the manifold off when I installed my vortech. On top of that basically the whole engine compartment had to be rearranged including the coolant system to make room for the supercharger that sticks off to the side of the engine. At least with the PD blowers they replace the intake manifold so packaging is much easier.

HOLY SHIT BRO!! When I first saw the CHUNKS on the Valve Body, I knew there would be trouble... I've been working on Cars for over 40 years, and I've never seen THAT before! 😳😖 Seriously no bueno. And I Raced NHRA in the 80's through the late 90's.... But "fast" then was slower than fast NOW. 12 seconds used to be FAST. 😲 I really hope you do more in-depth Videos like this. I'm very interested in modern tech. Especially since I haven't been able to work on Cars since 2007... Carmine 🚂🚙

Alex, my 6r80 output shaft flange rotates back and forth when in park the transmission makes a noise from reverse to drive like a clunk sound. I hear that is normal but it seems like it's getting louder. The transmission shifts perfect I have no slippage whatsoever, it's just transition from reverse to drive.

Hey Alejandro. I’m hoping you can help me. I have a 6R80 in my 14 mustang gt. About 6 months ago i changed my diff gears to 3.73, with a SCT/BDX tune. My tranny is now flaring while driving. The flare happens quite often. Any suggestions on how this can be fixed? The car has 115k miles
@YDBT4LIFE Жыл бұрын
If the transmission has that many miles then it's time for a rebuild
@ShizawnSanders6 жыл бұрын
Was the convertor okay? Reason I ask is because the goal with my Coyote 6R80 car is to get it in the 9's before changing the convertor. Also, that trans already went through 1 rebuild if I recall. Did they just do a stock rebuild?
@YDBT4LIFE6 жыл бұрын
Shawn Howard I went 9.3 with the stock converter.
@ShizawnSanders6 жыл бұрын
Alejandro Flores. I know and that's bad ass. My question was about the tear down. Was it un damaged internally. The convertor I mean. Reason I ask is I come from old school LS cars and those stock convertors would balloon out and or take a dump throwing trash into the trans therefore damaging the trans.
