Broken Before 1st Use??? - Joby GripTight Pro Video GorillaPod Stand Review

Check out my unboxing/review for the Joby GripTight Pro GP (GorillaPod) Stand, which is basically the combination of Joby's ultra heavy duty Joby GripTight Mount Pro phone mount and their GorillaPod tripod stand. Overall, I do like it. However, as you will quickly see, it broke before I even got it all out of the packaging, which is pretty disappointing. I'm going to exchange it for another and try to be more careful and see how long it lasts the 2nd time around. lol

At 3:31 you say this is how to expand the holder and then struggle a few seconds trying to pull it apart because it won't move. Then at 3:40 you flip it and pull something on the other side and it pops loose. I wish I knew what that trick was because I can't seem to expand mine no matter what. UPDATE: I did get it loose after gently prying the little silver logo screw with a screwdriver. It seemed like it was practically soldered onto the plate. Overall it has a great design and I can't wait to use it.

Thanks for this comment, I had the exact same problem as you and ended up on this video. Nothing seemed to work, but forcing the silver button thing away from the rest of the top part opened up the mechanism. Everything's working correctly now.

Great Video! Mine was loose as shit broke it trying to tighten the screw that holds the top piece on. The problem was that it pans as it is sitting sometimes. It has no adjustment tightening nut for the pan movement. The pro looks much much better with the ball head. Wish i would have bought the pro mount with joby legs separate. To be honest you will never use the little rod that broke. I haven't yet other than for 1 Panoramic photo lol

is there any way to get the spinning silver/blue thing to lock in place? at certain angles my phone is too heavy so it ends up spinning out of angle

Nope. Big problem with this thing. Took mine back. Just go with the normal version.

i checked again and saw theres no way to stop it from spinning so i too decided to go with a normal version. thanks though

Sorry man. It’s not that great. If the phone isn’t perfectly level, it’ll actually pan on its own - no way to tighten it.
