just trying to show where the areas are that the bolts are located.

Had the same issue with mine. What I ended up was grinding the bolt off from the bottom as flush as possible with the body of the car. Then drilled out where the old bolt was located. And bought a 3/8 bolt and 2 stainless steel nuts and a washer to replace the broken bolt. Then instead of cutting a hole I just slid the new bolt in through the larger middle mount hole. You do need fairly thin fingers to make it work or find someone with fairly thin fingers. Once you have it in the hole put the assembly back in and hand tighten the bolt as much as possible. But since there isn’t anyway to grab the top of the bolt, what I ended up doing was using a adjustable wrench at the base of the new bolt. And a 14 mm wrench where the nut was. It may slip at times but I just kept tightening the nut until I got it to where the strut wasn’t wiggling. And put in an additional nut to make sure it doesn’t loosen. It took me about an 30-45 minutes to get it done.

Only problem with that, is you need good drill bits. Bolts are grade 10 hardened. Most people can't afford those bits. Everyone can afford a dremel.

@@trm4life not really the drill bit I used was just a regular dewalt black and gold twist drill bit which is less than $10. And the drill I used was a black and decker drill from Walmart made to hang things like picture frames not drill into metal. So all in all if you had a basic drill lying around which most people do you would just need to buy the $10 drill bit.

Man that’s a ridiculous design. I just spotted one of these broken bolts on my car I got last year and now I see why they didn’t bother to try fixing it.

Thanks for watching, glad this helps. It really wasn't difficult, just tedious. Worth the trouble to do it yourself as long as you have a Dremel and some cutting discs.

I have a question once you cut into the hole how did you remove those metal welded caps or whatever things that were there where you put the new bolts through?
@trm4lifeАй бұрын
I used my dremel with a small cutoff wheel and just dug into the welded studs until the weld was gone

Umm. Mine has a rounded bolt but its the bottom size 17 mm. Which is a struggle cut it but the nut is close to the drum leaving little room to remove.

I don't feel heartbroken about cutting an access hole, that I'll likely use multiple times. I own the car. I'd prefer the work be easy.
