Certainly agree that should be paying at all chargers. In NSW the NRMA ones are free. Even when this becomes just for members, it distorts the market and discourages other providers. Tesla drivers will bypass supercharges to use them even when they are slower, causing waiting for others. I’d rather pay and have the money spent in increased reliability and more chargers.

I suspect all levels of government see this infrastructure as a box ticking exercise and seeing dealerships don’t want any EVs there is going to be little noise. There is almost nothing suitable for anyone towing, unless you unhitch somewhere remote from your charging location. Federal government needs to see what a disaster a laissez faire approach will produce if it doesn’t see EV charging infrastructure as fundamentally important for public safety and security.

Hi David, thanks for watching and the comment. Will be interesting to see what happens in this space over the next few years. Cheers

I noticed this Christmas was better with more chargers working and also many more installed since last Christmas. I think will just continue to get better in coming years.

Great video. Thank you. I cannot find the report mentioned about chargers reliability in the UK. Can you attach the link pls?

Hi, thanks for watching and the comment. Apologies I don't have a record of it. I usually put a link in the show notes but sometimes I forget as it's often weeks between researching, filming and editing the video before it goes live and given I do it in my limited spare time sometimes I drop the ball :(.

That spot wasn't iced, that was a HS PHEV as the petrol model doesn't come in that colour. That said the HS only has AC charging so wouldn't be able to use that charger, so it's PHEV'd not ICE'd 😆

in some cases a simple reboot can cure the symptoms. After all. It is a computer and computer sometimes have a dummy spit/communication problem.

I can see how there could be punch-ups at chargers, if the demand for ev cars keeps outstripping the charging capacity….

Hi Peter, thanks for the comment. Hopefully drivers move onto the next charger before that happens :)

What a mess. If EVs are to become mainstream, the charging experience needs to be idiot proof. It is currently very much not

Hi Hugo, thanks for watching and the comment, yes room for improvement with rapid chargers, luckily type 2 AC chargers are much more reliable and widespread, just slower charging if is great for work day parking or overnight.

parking meters on the chargers are required to deter the abusers of overstay or non Bev parkers it will have to come someday so lets get the system in place now for infant oz ahead of the rage & fights !!!
@ElectricCarAustralia Жыл бұрын
Good point Flaming, combined with idle fees for overstaying a charge would assist in managing the limited number of chargers.
@flamingstag2381 Жыл бұрын
@@ElectricCarAustralia yea I did mention overstay ive heard that in some county (Norway maybe ) that a tax starts ticking away once the car is full & somewhere in the USA a council has installed cameras linked to their chargers that activate a fine if a vehicle parks without charging !!!

The chargers and the connection to the grid shouldn't cost $150,000. Everyone involved are being ripped off.

eh my question would be why invest in an experimental tech at best with dodgy infrastructure when petrol/diesel have served us well for so long?
@ElectricCarAustralia Жыл бұрын
Hi Phat, thanks for the comment. Everyone has there own personal reasons but from a mainstream community point, within next 10-15 years mainstream vehicle manufactures wont be making petrol/diesel vehicles (many companies have already said this) so something to think about.

Tesla has by far the largest EV market share in Australia and has its own rock-solid reliable DC charging network. They can do it, why can't other rapid charger suppliers and networks?
