Tony gets to the bottom of his green top Barra issues and starts building the new forged Ford six engine.
__________________
The Aussie Ford Territory was one of the most popular SUVs when it was on sale largely due to it being powered by the Barra six cylinder engine. This is the AWD version so it's the perfect platform for a sleeper style build project. We follow Tony from Michael Js & Son as he gives the old family Territory a much needed overhaul from front to back as well as a much needed turbo upgrade.

Like to know why mechanics still charge like a wounded bull, when they have always had air tools to use and also now with power assisted tools, its so much quicker to fix basic mechanical problems, no more just using spanners and ratchets ,those days are gone almost, so why are they charging so much that's what i would like to know people? I understand they went to trade school to get qualified, but the schools are free, not like your going to uni for a degree in engineering or to be a lawyer or Dr, yet mechanics will charge like over $100.00 per hour, which is so wrong? But in saying this, not all mechanics are rip-off's, some do the right thing and those who do, will always have customers coming back for more work? Also i understand that your paying for experience ,but if so then go to dany engines if you want a drag engine package or others who do just that specialists in various mechanical expertise and not your every day mechanical workshop?

Loving the series! Just drove my 2005 Ghia +t 6 hrs yesterday. Packed to the hilt with adults and dog . Plenty of power when needed! Never even came close to having to flat foot it ! Loving my turbo territory! We averaged 10.8 lts per 100 on e10 ! Would have been nearly 3 t gross weight! Not bad !

I’d have to say more than half of the higher km engines have tight gudgeon pins especially the old commodore v6 they are usually just gummed up and brake cleaner will free them but it’s definitely worth a quick hone for lil more oil gap if they are out and gapping the ring’s anyway

When you buy a gt you always pull them apart to check them . Mine had stuffed valves and the bearings needed replacing . Its a gamble just chucking things in .

So there's a good idea for all the ring manufactures mark them with fluro paint, that way anyone will know where they are seated on the piston?

@@IronLungProductionsOfficial The awd diesel variant uses a solenoid to engage clutches in the transfer case to turn the front drive shaft so it's an adjustable TC iow. The awd barra models SX-SY2 use the NV125 TC which has a planetary gear set (68% rear/32% front split) so I assume the diesel TC is something like the ATC400 or ATC500 model (clutches and no planetary) case...

@@brettus9115 can you run a dummy shaft on a turbo territory and disconnect the front tail shaft or does the load on one side of the T/C kill it? I have a AWD Turbo but want to turn it into 2WD.

The smartest, most capable, and most experienced engine builders can not let the ring gap alignment thing go. I was yakking with an ancient engine man - who's built race engines for Jim Richards, Bathurst cars, etc - while he put pistons in an engine and he very clearly, very simply explained to my dumb brain why it doesn't matter at all, because they start spinning at different rates as soon as you fire the engine up. He then described his preferred alignment before carefully lining up the rings on a piston and put it into the engine 🤣🤣🤣 It just feels too unnatural to slap them on any which way. I'm convinced it can't be done.

@@Low760 yeah, they do - that's also so crazy when you think about it, isn't it? We all know it makes no difference, but we all do it and we all tell everybody else to do it.
