Broken Holden 308 Engine Teardown and Diagnosis!!!

the other block can be sleeved i wouldnt throw it away 308 blocks are getting hard to find theses days might of bent the valves in that cylinder too

Yeah I have it tucked away, at the time the cost to resleeve and bore was about the same as the other block so it was easier that way. Head surprisingly seems fine. I also since discovered that I had lost a small screw from the quarajet baseplate so that’s the culprit 🤦🏼‍♂️

Carby bolt from base plate??? more info please as you have us all worried, Use to own a 5.0 ss papaya Orange back in the day cost second hand $4800.00 lol OH the good ol days

Bingo! After checking the quadrajet that’s what happened, small bolt from baseplate came out

holy shit that looks like my piston head 😲 swapped my 650DP with my brothers quadrajet to see if my torana would run differently, 5 hours later it went bang 😭

put an LS in it, 308 getting old to much money to just keep up with a stock ls, in my younger days I had an LX SS hatch had a 327 stroker in it heads, piston, sj chev rods, cran 288 solid could get passed 12.2 I pulled out the engine put in a vk changed nothing ran 11.6

I definitely thought about it but staying old school for now anyway. I have another lh 4 door that may cop something later model
