Buenos días, me encanta el canal y admiro su trabajo eso en primer lugar ,me gustaría que antes de mi comentario lo supiera ,he leído que por qué trabaja el aceite con la tela ya puesta yo simplemente he pensado que sus razones tendría usted es el profesional y maravilloso no cabe duda., pero yo antes de haber trabajado el aceite hubiese puesto un trapo grande o lo suficientemente grande para proteger la tela ya se ve que es un gran profesional y no mancho ni una gota pero más que nada por precaución, nunca se sabe le puede venir un estornudo o cualquier cosa inesperada., me imagino que la tela la elegiría la clienta una lección bastante sosa que nada ayuda a que sobresalga lo bonita que es la madera no es que la elección debiera ser por ejemplo de colorines, no me refiero a eso., pero algo qué casada mucho más con el color de la madera y la línea tan bonita., también lo mostraría una vez acabado en otro lugar a lo mejor usted no puede pero no sé si tendrá sitio fuera del taller o poner algún trapo en el suelo quizás alguna presentación de la finalización del acabado encima de la mesa alta de trabajo el caso es que no se viese el suelo pero que no es por el suelo porque es un lugar de trabajo es por los muebles para que la presentación final pues tan elegante como el trabajo., o a lo mejor una tela en el suelo o alguna manera grande que tengas para trabajar pero encima de la mesa de trabajo si es que cabe sería buena idea., por lo demás excelente trabajo en el excelente trabajo ., más que excelente👌

I love the great work on the restoration. You saved it from the landfill for sure. I was a little dismayed as why you didn’t replace the worn out webbing and foam? I know you say you’re not an expert in upholstery and I totally understand. But since you took so much time to repair it, you might’ve past it on to an expert to get the upholstery done properly. I’m afraid the webbing will stretch out again.

I would of been lost if I took that all a part n not being able to figure out how to put back together again. I think you did amazing job on this piece. It looks far better now than it ever did. I was a little concern at using the same webbing. Many pieces were cut or torn n some it didn’t look altogether as one piece. I’m sure the lady who owns this also picked the fabric. All of that it really doesn’t matter. The important fact is…. she’s happy to have this sweet love seat back in perfect condition. You made that possible for her. Many thumbs up for your care n finish piece. 😊♥️👍👍👍👍👍👍

Excellence! The wood glue I use is stronger than the wood itself, it is a PVA glue, what kind do you use?

I also use PVA. It adds flexibility and is very strong as you said. But I also use quick glue where I don't want flexibility.

It may be more comfortable with back cushions but that wood is too pretty to cover up. It’s sad to see how poorly the repairs had been done but makes me smile to see it now.

Very nice restoration. Only the webbing i would have replaced. Some of the straps are damaged, and they are old and worn... The cushion could be a little thicker for more comfort, but overall a fine result. 😃

Great job! The two issues that I question are: one, why did you use old frayed straps when you know that the straps take a lot of abuse. Two, why didn’t you wait after the teak oil is applied and dried before installing the light color fabric? Other than that you did a great restoration job and I love the care you had for working the all but broken wooden parts.

Thank you so much for your comments and questions. The camera can be misleading about straps. They are fully usable. Oil and polish can be applied in any situation, in my opinion. Just be careful :)

I hate to be too critical because I admire the time and effort you put into all your projects, however, looking at the damaged dowels at the start of your renovation, I began to wonder if the single (short) dowels in the leg extensions would survive for any length of time. I can imagine that after a few knocks these may snap off. Personally I would have inserted a steel rod through the extension piece and well into the existing parts. Otherwise, a good restoration and repair although I did cringe a little when you applied the teak oil over the newly upholstered seat:)

If I'd been that lady I would have asked for a little more padding on the seat. The back could be delt with by using cushions. Well done on a good restoration and increasing the height. Both looked impossible, but a great result at the end..
