Hey! Just got into vaporwave a year before you left your comment - I'm not a huge fan or anything, but I do like the music a lot. I think the genre will die someday, all things do, but the weird thing about things is that they can live on after dying in ways us alive schmucks often can't. After vaporwave dies, I think its pieces will come back to life embedded in other genres, even if someday nobody remembers its history or name.

Had no idea the kind of effort it took to create this. So many songs from Broken Reality just scratch that particular itch in my little sound holes in the right place, and honestly, at some point I did consider just opening the game and standing still to listen to it. For the longest time I always wondered why some songs were perpetually missing from the OST compilations. Thanks for this, I respect the commitment.

The unused track at 31:23 is actually just a slightly slowed version of a song from the Parasite Eve II OST (the track is called MIST, if you're curious). Interesting that it was in the game files! It was probably just a vibe-placeholder. :)

given the pretty brazen sample of Steely Dan - Do It Again in the restaurant and cruise themes my guess would be the OST has a bunch of other uncleared samples and they didn't want to release an OST that would make it easy for contentID to incriminate em. or they got the samples cleared for the game but not for an OST release

Yeah I always assumed the music was licensed, but when I asked about it in regards to the sequel, they just said both games have a main composer and some guest artists. So I think your theory is a lot more accurate lol. Either way I'm just glad it's available for easy listening now.

I love this game, and I have been trying to get my friends and other people around my life to place this game. I'm have been basically trying to get this gem of a video game alive. Anyways there is so much I have to learn from Broken Reality. Despite its outdated memes and glitches, there is a lot to offer here. Many different elements play here that most video games nowadays where get fired on. I can come to go on and on about how each part of the game is a fitting part to play with the soundtrack. But I just came here to look back on my experiences when I first played Broken Reality. There are no words or speaking that I can tell you all how good this game is. I know to agree to disagree, but at it, all end no matter if you think this is a "weeb game" or anything else. Broken Reality was one hell of an experience. No memories of when I first played this game will ever make me indifferent to the gameplay. At the end of it all, I hope you and many others who come in here in this youtube comment section see the fantastic music and possibly gameplay it did for you. Man, this comment is going long. No matter, I must leave peace out, Broken Reality fans. I'm going to keep playing Broken Reality over and over again. Cheers for hope, Broken Reality. Thanks! Also, all 3 missing songs are explained in the description. But here's a quick summary for all 3: Blaze Runner - Couldn't get the file, and the Geocity ambience was too loud to record it. The ambience when leaving DTop - Honestly doesn't sound very good since it's a bunch of disjointed clips played in a random order with no real pace to them. Also it only plays for 1 minute. The piano song you mentioned - The audio from that one actually has pops in it. I spent like an hour in Audacity using Repair and was only able to fix a couple of them.

That's a very oddly specific spot if that actually is where it plays lol. Though DTop has a set of tracks that play in a random order, only after you're on your way to leaving it. It doesn't even go for like a full minute either. So i guess Geocity's no stranger to having songs play in extremely specific spots lol.

@@DropOfMidnightOfficial Actually that one is diiferent. It has ambient sounds and things in the background that aren't actually in E-mall. E-mall itself is a vaporwave'd version of another song, which is what Consumer also uses. It's a really weird rabbit hole lol

I love Broken Reality, both for the game/story but also the music and the art style- thank you for making this compilation of the music ^-^ the visuals from the game for the accompanying music are also a great bonus, and throwing in the Dynamic Media Triad logo/jingle (which I guess is also the Triangle Piece Get sound, heh) and save sounds at the end were also a nice touch :3 Although...something I've been wondering for a while now- is it just me, or is GeoCity ( -not the name, I get -_-that's-_- a "Yahoo GeoCities" joke- ) sorta loosely based on the 2814 album "Birth of a New Day"? lol I mean...the visual style (similar to the album cover, rather), a lot of the music from there- and I tried listening to the album in question from the start of the area (at the subway stop, bottom of the stairs) and it was _disturbingly_ fitting in a way, heh.
