Anyone who says that sled dogs are abused and the mushers don't care about them needs to watch this.

This was talking about mushers the whole time. Thats the thing. You start looking at the race and not the dogs. If you are racing the Iditarod. You don't just own 16 dogs. You own 40 OR MORE! and thats just the ones that made the cut! Some mushers have hundreds of dogs. A low standard of care is normalized. Sled dogs historic purpose wasn't racing. Thats a modern invention. www.reddit.com/r/dogs/comments/japt8w/discussion_so_i_work_in_sled_dog_racing/?context=3

Search Results Featured snippet from the web From the Sled Dog Action Coalition: At least 154 dogs have died in the Iditarod. There is no official count of dog deaths available for the race's early years. There are no records kept of how how many dogs die in training or after the race each year.

Stay away from that firewater bro. Or at least stay away from snow machine that goes mach .2. If he was truly n a blackout state I feel terrible for him, and of course the poor dogs and Jeff (I love this sport & the dogs are the stars), but if you have never blacked out and kept doing things u r “almost” not responsible for, it’s an awful feeling, I’ve never done anything like that tho, most I did was disappear and walk around all night. But I just so hate that it happened at all.

Its a dumb sport. Its about winning. Not the dogs. These aren't bad people. But they are ignoring the side effects of what they do. Google "sled dog rescue". There are loads! Theres only a few hundred professional mushers in the world. That percentage is way too high bro. Period. Get rid of racing you remove the incentive to breed dogs. www.reddit.com/r/dogs/comments/japt8w/discussion_so_i_work_in_sled_dog_racing/?context=3

I thought i was watching mushers and dog teams going on an adventure and now some evil man has tried killing people and their dogs with a snow machine, wtf? Thats heartbreaking that is, i hope he got plenty of jail time.

Maybe & I don’t know (I do know I’ll get flamed for this opinion) it’s because he got blackout drunk and subconsciously all the frustrations over being a native without the means to do this race & perhaps the discipline and he feels lots of frustration while watching non natives compete and do better at a race in a land his people have lived in since before recorded history. I’m not native and I’m not in Alaska, I just thought hey maybe(??) it was this. Just a thought.

IDK. Its sorta like how people don't like cyclists. Snowmobilers are scared of hitting dog teams. they are out there all the time. They can't stop/ All the pressure is on the snowmobiles. Plus I made this reddit. Wills native theory is pretty interesting not gonna lie www.reddit.com/r/dogs/comments/japt8w/discussion_so_i_work_in_sled_dog_racing/?context=3

If you shoot for 15th any thing over that is higher achievement but if you finish 15th you bring home 15000 so shot for 15th with good team take your time and them if you come in 8th you'll feel like you crushed your goal lot of the high place winners are dirty people who really shouldn't be aloud around any animals the have hundreds of dogs neglected treated like shit to get one good team if you can have 15 dogs and do your best your the bigger winner I don't care who wins I go buy the one I can see love and related to the dogs with love the best

Horses like to have job's if they don't they get board. People get bored if they don't have a direction and get into trouble. Same with animals in if they don't have a jobs they get bored.
