Nice day on the water other than grip breaking , rod breaking. On my way to Twin Bridges to drop my Boron II off I broke yesterday :-( that’s why can never have to many rods and should always have a spare with you . Thanks for sharing

Pretty crazy day! Yeah it seems like everyone I talk to is dealing with a broken rod at the moment! Thankfully aqua flies fixed my renegade in literally 3 days lol. Gotta love that service. I broke a Sage this winter and it took 3 months to get it back.

Have you fished the 6wt renegade? If so what line do you like on it and how do you rate it as for a kind of heavier trout rod ? (like fish up to say 12lb)
@savageandsmith Жыл бұрын
Yes!! 275 gr commando. It can handle 12 pound fish for sure that will be a heck of a fight but it can do it.

Love the idea of that Flycraft boat. do y’all always have to take two vehicles to shuttle your boat back up, or are there shuttle services in the area? That’s the only thing that’s held me from getting one cause I’m usually running solo.
@savageandsmith Жыл бұрын
Shuttles on most rivers, if not just two cars yeah.

I love to fish my old 13' St. Croix 7/8 Imperial. it was the 1st one off the assembly line. It's an absolute tank and throws a 500 gr skagit and heavy stuff with ease. I also love my old Fly Logic 13' Dec Hogan spey rod. I fish both with an old Hardy Marquis Salmon #2 reel.
@savageandsmith Жыл бұрын
Never tried either of those! Sounds cool!
@Barry287 Жыл бұрын
@@savageandsmith Both of those rods are late 90's early 2000 vintage. The St. Croix has the same medieval catapult action as the old Sage brown blanks.

For steelhead I fish a Sage Sonic 7136-4 on bigger water and a Loop OPTI NXT 7124-4 on smaller systems. For kings I love my NRX 10/11 15ft for big water and my 13’9 9/10 Hardy Demon for all the other systems. I’ll even use my Demon for winter steelhead if I need to Huck T-17 into the chop on a day if they’re holding in deeper faster current and not the typical seam or tail out
