just had this problem with my CTS. It happened before than was good for awhile then now it just shuts down after a few seconds. I am almost tempted to go back to my dewalt but will see what customer support says. The sawstop has only made about 20 cuts.... my dewalt cannot be killed.

have you had this issue since you replaced the switch box? I’m getting sent a new switch box for the same issue

No I have not had any further issues with the switch box since this video over a year ago. In almost 3 years now of ownership we have had this switch box issue, which SawStop took care of, and two brake firings, one that was our fault and one that's a bit of a mystery. But with my dad on blood thinners and poor health, these little hiccups are worth the added measure of safety.

Great video. I am considering purchasing this saw to downsize from a cabinet saw and wondered how good the cut quality is compared to a cabinet saw and how you like the fence design? Also, I am wanting to add a big-gulp dust collection hood below the saw do you think it is possible to cut an opening in the webbing without effecting the saw's operation? Thanks

Hey thanks for watching! When we purchased this saw, we were using a Rigid R4512, which is Rigid's largest saw, and is a cast iron cabinet style saw. Probably the biggest thing I've noticed is it is not an induction motor, so it doesn't have that "big saw sound", and you can tell there is a power difference from a cabinet saw. As far as overall quality of the saw, Sawstop makes a great product, no complaints. Personally I like the fence, I've heard others don't care for it but I think that is mostly from people who are used to a T-Glide woodworking fence. A lot of what I do is DIY and we don't use a ton of hardwoods, or super precision, but the fence is very easy to use and I've found it to be the best one I've ever used as compared to other job site style saws, but not necessarily compared to a Biesemeyer or T-Glide style. Because the saw sits in the same spot in our shop I've considered upgrading. The portability and ability to fold it up against the wall is stellar if you need it, but for not a lot more money you can buy the Contractor, and if you are used to a cabinet saw, the t-glide fence, induction motor and larger top might be worth it. I guess my two cents would be definitely look at them in person if you can, but if you need the fold up design, the job site is worth it, but if you can swing a little more money and have the space I think the contractor would be a worthwhile upgrade. I hope that is helpful.

Also, as far as cutting a hole in the webbing, I think you could cut as much of that bottom plate as you wanted, as long as you left enough to support that plate that the spring goes into that i pointed out when I went back together I don't think any of the rest of that plate is too critical, but that's just my opinion. That is one other downside to the Jobsite, it only has the 2.5 inch dust port on the back which works ok, but it moves with the trunnion when you change the angle, so it's kind of a pain because it pulls the hose when you change angle. The Contractor steps up to a 4 inch in the bottom if I'm not mistaken.
