13 years have passed when this video came out, I was 5 then but my sister was in middle school. Couple of years later she was in high school and faced so many problems with life, being with the wrong people. She told me one night where she was all alone and tears flowing that i was her reason to keep living, as much as we irritate each other youre my reason to live. Never will forget that, that was yeara ago now, now its 2018 and I'm a senior in highschool and my sister is doing alright. This song holds a special place to my heart as it shaped both my sister and I.

I' ve heard about Broken Social Scene, but i've never heard any song. 2 or 3 weeks ago i watched "Scott Pilgrim" (The movie, which i highly recomend) and then i downloaded the soundtrack of the film. I loaded the soundtrack into my mp3 and when this song was played i was on the street, walking to come back to my job and i nearly cried for the emotion. It has never happened to me before. When i got home i inmediatly searched whose that song. From this day on, i'm glad to have discovered this band

i think it's actually someone's innocence talking to the adult version of her. "now you are gone got your makeup on and you're not coming back" and in "park that car drop that phone sleep on the floor think about me", she's saying to quit being such a grown-up and remember her innocence now and then. just my twocents though :)

this could be an anthem for a 17 year old boy too (me), it doesn't matter which way. but yeah i'm a junior now and i'm listening to this alot lately. it makes you think about friends who have changed in drastic ways (sometimes scary/depressing ways) and the magical times you used to have. when you're turning more into adult and you're not just a newly turned teenager is another way of feeling this song

Quite possibly the most beautiful thing ever recorded. "bleaching your teeth, smiling flash, talking trash under my window..." I've got entirely too many memories tied into this song and every time I hear it I experience them all over again. The emotions conveyed in just over 4 minutes last an eternity.

Saw the sneak preview of This Movie Is Broken last night. This song was definitely a highlight for me. Without giving it away, I'll say I loved the movie (as most of the audience seemed to) right up to the last 10 minutes or so, where you could audibly hear everyone there utter some variation of "aw man, no!" Otherwise one of the best experiences for making you feel like you really were at that show.

This song isn't about a girl liking some boy. This is her right now singing to her adolescent self, in third person. As in, You used to be one of the rotten ones and enjoyed it at the time (and maybe still do), but now I'm a new person and can never go back. When she's saying 'dream about me', she means her 17-yr old self dreaming about what her future self would be like.

she takes "memories" with her, to her new life. But she'll forget about them, that's why she tells herself "Park that car, drop that phone, sleep on the floor and dream about me" Dream about how you used to be. "Used to be one of the rotten ones" She probably used to be a street-smart kid, and now she's fake, has an office job, bleaches her teeth, talks trash, has a car and puts on loads of make-up like a mask. To hide her past I guess, it makes sense. Anyone agrees?

The video seems appropriate. The emotional nuance of this song is, I think, the sadness in leaving childhood behind and an attempt to make it last just a little bit longer. It can be hard to see an older friend excited at the prospect of "growing up" so to speak who is moving into a different phase in her life [figuratively+literally] and knowing that you can't share that with her. Again, the feeling of being left behind and the perhaps being forgotten in the process...

Me and my older sister were best friends when she was seventeen (She's five years older) and we did everything together. I couldn't imagine life without her. Well, she grew up, fell in love, now, she's twenty. She doesn't notice I'm even alive. When ever I listen to this song, I get tears in my eyes because, it reminds me of the better times. Now, she's all gone, she's got her makeup on and, I know, she's not coming back. I miss you Kourtney.

I feel the same way. This song captures that sweet, innocent romanticism that we all eventually grow out of, sad to say. This album, IMO, was the greatest record of the last ten years, followed closely by Silversun Pickups last record (the one with "Rusted Wheel").

This song perfectly conveys EXACTLY the feelings i had at 17! 18 i had too much sense, 16 i was too innocent for all of this. but 17! those were the days of mad, crazy, passionate, sneaking over to each others house, 3 hour long calls at night, smiling all night cause u knew someone was thinking of you, pure, young, obsessive love! nowadays im 21, and the world is just to understandable and mature to experience this kind of heart racing love ever again.

it's kinda.. unusual, but also very poetic, and in some way very touching. i don't know whether to like it or not, since the muted voice takes a lot of touching feeling away, like the song is covered in blankets. altough that's probably the aspect that gives the certain moody feeling to the song. @Hamandchees3 I couldn't agree more. People who follow a 'scene', (gangsters/emo/metal/indie) rule out anything played on the radio, pretty much without any respect to the content of the song. I'll be honest, I love B.E.P. But that doesn't mean I can't love a bit of indie alternative on the side ;). Off topic, thanks for pointing me to that book, definitely going to give it a read sometime.
