So now I know exactly what to do with all the broken cable we have from the winch. Very informative and most definitely a very usable skill. Thank you. I know I have at least 4 broken cables I will be practicing on in the very near future. Always nice to have one of those double eye cables for short toes around the ranch. Thanks for the lesson on not throwing away the broken cable. As always perfect.

The old Molly Hogan, Man I tied a lot of those over the years. One suburban stuck in the river and a 1 inch cable comes to mind. The longer the tail the tougher they are. 6 foot tail without clamps held quite well.

when i first started watching your channel i almost unsubscribed thought you were a S.A. but soon found out you do know a lot and are plain spoken which i like being plain spoken and to the point is good if you know what you are talking about and you seem to. Glad i kept watching. i grew up working in an automotive salvage yard pulling parts we didn't use forklift back then used an old Holmes 440 which worked well. i don't tow for hire anymore i quit when the wheel lift became the normal. my tow truck which i found a couple years ago is a 1966 D500 Dodge with a Holmes twin boom 500 on the back with twin 20,000lb pto winches on it you talk about a truck that will break a cable the wrecker never quits something brakes i have pulled new 3/8" cable into idling and never changed tones only reason i use 3/8 is the weight of the cable and usually only lifting small cars or up to 1ton trucks usually empty and like i say unless i own it doesn't go don't the highway. besides some of the new ones can't tow with sling i have used 4x4 and pulled some but run a risk and at my age not willing to buy wheel list thanks for the videos

Thank you, been making these for decades but never saw anyone separate and rewind the core as well. We always just ran the core with one side. Be interesting to try it this way. Thanks again. Search on "West Coast three tuck loggers eye" for another , more complicated method of putting in an eye. Thanks again. Well done.

Interesting. The only wire rope repairs I've seen made were with clamps. That appears much stronger than clamps alone.
