Yuji vs Gon - Why It Isn't That Close

Jujutsu Kaisen and HunterxHunter are two manga with similar levels of power, and in this video I decided to pit both of these series' main characters against one another.
Yuji Itadori vs Gon Freecs, a battle based in simplicity and close quarters combat ability. I'll be going over their strength, speed, durability, and "hax" in order to decide who would win... and why.

Abilities and strength are two seperate things. Knov can make like 40 pocket dimensions but that doesn`t mean he's "40 pocket dimensions level". It`s just his ability. Same with jjk characters, their abilities do not come proportionately from their strength, it`s just something they have on top of it. Dagon would definitely not be able to destroy or create an entire island by any other means than with his domain, same way that Todo isn`t so strong that he`s able to warp spacetime so that he switches places with things. It`s just his ability. Their stats are seperate and they are completely different things

Did you even read JJK? Domains are created through pure CE, everything inside and outside. That's just how techniques work in JJK, so the ability to create a mountain using your own CE is still mountain level, because it requires a mountain's worth of energy.

​@@crock3251You might need to check your own reading comprehension. The island isnt "created", it's something that already exists. It's the scenery of Dagon's innate domain. Same goes for Infinite Void and Malevolent Shrine, Self Embodiment of Perfection, etc. the cursed energy is what's needed to "paint" or push that innate domain into a barrier. This doesn't have any real world analog, so... It's basically incalculable, unless you go backwards and base it off how much cursed energy we see a character use regularly.

17:06 Honestly, MHA does an absolutely fantastic showing of what durability not scaling to power does to a hero right from the get go with Deku blasting his limbs apart every time he used OFA, and later his requiring of Eri to maintain 100%. It's one of the few things that makes Deku stand out at all from the crowd and I think it honestly often gets overlooked how mentally tough he had to be to bare with that level of damage almost constantly.

Also, I really appreciate you just acknowledging the fact that Gon's adult contract just probably wouldn't be used because it isn't in character. So often these VS videos go "well they're both bloodlusted so they use absolutely everything" but sometimes it just really is not in character whatsoever, and the real character outcome is completely overlooked. It's still nice to see them throwing absolutely everything that they have, but it's nicer to get the more likely scenarios acknowledged beforehand.

Yuji is fast but MACH 500 is insane, that is a little over 103 miles a second, we should be using yuji’s fights and personal feats rather than comparing him to people like maki/toji and reaction time is very different than overall speed. Yuji has moderate speed at best, he has a stupid amount of speed but it is only seen when he is running in a straight line. If Yuji was using “MACH 500” in his fights he would destroy everyone he comes across. In conclusion Yuji would probably only move at mach 30 in short quick speed dashes

The weapon she used shot rubber bullets, in order not to hurt people forever or at least something akin to that. Also she used a conjured bullet, something we can't calculate on speed wise but if you use the anime its not that fast. Also like toji she has advanced sight, and reaction speed (unrealist but makes sense in anime)...all to say the jjk story surprisingly has consistency and people try to say it doesn't to equate it to all the other series. Much like hxh gege loves science and over explaining he doesn't have one piece (a good story) feats like I can take a hit from someone moving at the speed of light and survive (likely its assumed that too was not the speed of light) or I can push buildings apart but cant lift something smaller etc. No story is perfect thou. But gege adds so many specifics and is a huge manga fan so I think he cares about the power scaling stuff.

The scaling in the five first minutes is absolutely ridiculous. The fact that jogou can summon a mountain (assumed, we do not even know or see the full scale of the manifestation) inside of his domain, has nothing to do with him having mountain scale durability. Cursed energy pool and cursed energy output and its effect on a character's innate durability are different things. Jogou is a Glass Cannon type of character, and if you hit him with anything above skyscrapper level attacks, he will be mostly done. The fact that Mechamaru can fire city level lasers (which he hasn't actually demonstrated, mind you, more like city block level) and he is considered overall weaker than Todou or Yuji has nothing to do with the output of Yuji's punches. One character can be overall very weak, but have the capability for tremendous attacks, and vice versa. Just beacause somoene is overall above another character, this doesn't inherently mean that ALL of the character's stats and feats are immediately above anything the weaker character can do. This is without going into the fact that if we go of based on actual feats, Yuji hasn't demonstrated anything above Small House level of DC. Jeez, the amount of leaps of rationale just in those first five minutes is beyond the pale

(He doesn't even more relative to it 💀) Same problem with the MHS calc for Nanami dodging Mahito's blade, only measuring the distance to his face and not the actual distance the blade travels across the building. The Maki bullet calc is more understandable due to us not getting a clear look at her head relative to the bullet when she grabs said bullet. thats an Innate Domain you are talking about. Innate Domains are metaphysical, it's the mental/spiritual place that yuji was trapped in along with sukuna when his heart got ripped out. An actual Domain Expansion physically constructs the enviorment using cursed energy/brings the Innate Domain into reality, if you will, and then it seperates that space from the rest of the world with a Barrier (in most cases) In dagons case, you can physically interact with the enviorment like sand, trees, water, all of it has physical properties to it, similar to jogos case, there is actual lava and volcanic rock everywhere. now granted, some of the things constructed within a domain are purely cosmetic, like the black hole and the stars in space in gojos domain, it's safe to say those are purely there for the visual aesthetic, as the black hole doesnt share any of the actual properties, traits or qualities that a real black hole would. It had no gravitational pull, it didnt pull anyone towards it, and if it was the vacuum of space, people would die of suffocation, neither was there any lethal cosmic radiation or -270c temperatures that should have instantly frozen the people gojo affected in shibuya these things should really be taken with a grain of salt, examined on a case by case basis.

I thought locations in domains were just manifestations of someone's innate domain. Meaning they wouldn't literally be spawning an island or a mountain with their CE, but the domain having the look it does is just an affect of bringing your innate domain into reality. The difference from mai's technique is that she literally creates matter from nothing. when her technique ends, the matter remains. spoilers below I'm very curious as to what kind of a creature Mai would have turned into if Maki had been the one to go. Just as Mai held Maki back from being a beast of physical prowess, Maki would've also been holding Mai back from being some kind of walking arsenal. The primary drawback to her technique, it's massive consumption of cursed energy, would most likely have been lifted so she could just summon artillery cannons and such at will. I imagine she would have easily classified as special grade.

For the piercing blood i wanna say that there is an error that i often see in the PS community, that dodging a bullet requeres to be faster than the bullet. People irl can dodge gunshots, not by virtue of being faster than the bullet but by seing that the gun is pointed at them and dodging out of the way before it is fired Piercing blood and many attacks requires choso to conjure, charge, compress and then release, someone that sees him can start moving to the side at which point you don't need to be faster than the bullet but faster than the hands of choso to dodge the attack I know this doesn't solve the issue with maki's bullet but that is a bit more complex and i will leave it out for now

There are about two ways to catch a bullet: seeing a bullet flying through the air and grabbing it, or seeing a person about to fire a gun at you and timing it right to catch the bullet and if you know what to look for, would require that much less reaction time to catch. The latter would more than likely definitely not mean you have supersonic reaction OR movement speeds. I especially think that the latter method is something that virtually no power scalers take into account EVER.

The whole Netero "speed of sound" scale in my head has always been interpreted as that's simply Netero being the speed of sound in base before he even mastered the use of Nen that is to say he was the speed of sound as a normal human, Nen obviously increasing all of your base stats makes him (and obviously everyone else in the verse at this point) faster than that. 3:34 I have said this countless times and I will say it again. Characters using most of their energy to create a space within a domain the size of a mountain or an island do not scale their attacks and dura to that level due to those attacks not using nearly as much energy. The better thing to do is divide the energy for the feat by the number of seconds in a day (bare minimum cooldown) to get the amount of energy they can produce per second that they would use in their casual attacks. Doing this for domains like Jogo's and Dagon's gets you multi-city block per second joules, which is consistent with calcs like Gojo powering a nation or Mahito's body repel and Hanami's roots.

Meanwhile someone like Gojo wouldn't and he IS. And Sukuna would've gotten drastically weaker than Gojo throughout their fight from spamming it in case you wanna try and excuse Gojo doing it as "Six eyes give him infinite cursed energy" ... And if it was just energy it wouldn't affect using your normal technique but it does. Even Yuta the dude famous for having the most energy out of anyone but Sukuna. Still can't use a technique for a short while after using a domain. Though I do agree using domains for calcs is sometimes a weird feat since it's a hax thing using it to try and calculate Yuji's punching power? Is kinda unreliable.

Sukuna explains your CT and Domain are stored in parts of your brain and they get tired/worn out from using your domain which is why there's the time limit and cool down. When it comes to speed feats you really have to try and separate what is “Movement” and what is “Reaction” I truly believe the series sits at around Mach 3 in “speed”. But when it comes to how fast they punch, block, or dodge that ceiling goes much higher. 2 things wrong with this, firstly it's highly implied that Maki did dodge the lightning bolt rather than fully on tanking it as at that point 15 finger Sukuna wasn't having his ce output nerfed, a shot like that would've at least damaged Maki if it were to hit, next Hakari did dodge the lightning as it was literally point blank from his face and he moved his head out of the way, mach 5 is major downplay.

I would like to add on the fact that a far weaker casual Naoya was able to blitz both Yuji and Choso. The former being to react to Piercing Blood which should be faster than sound. This also doesn’t make sense if you upscale. 15 Meguna while temporarily nerfed was able to fight off both Yuji and Maki, he shown more than capable of landing blows on Maki despite her slight speed boost and prediction allowing to quite literally clown on Naoya at Mach 3, these feats were calc to be from Mach 4 to 6. Sukuna was her superior throughout that entire fight so logically he should scale above even Mach 6 and so should his stronger versions like 19 Finger Meguna and Heian Sukuna. Heian Sukuna specifically because his body is most definitely far far superior than Megumi’s and is literally made for Sorcerery. Even if you use the Mach 3 scaling, you still end up with double digit Mach numbers, so for the higher end so the verse caping at Mach 5 is just headcannon.

The problem with JJK is that the scaling is wildly inconsistent and problematic and makes plenty of plot holes. JJK fans tend to write off objective mistakes that gege akutami made as something " based interpretation ". There's nothing to interpret about Yuji fighting superior special grade mahito 1v1 and surviving and keeping up with him at points. This was before black flash happened. When powerscaling, you have to take into consideration plot holes and gow strong the character actually should be. Goku should be planetary with a single ki blast at the end of the saiyan saga, in BASE. But the series shows characters dozens of times stronger not being able to do so with their strongest moves. You cant take what a series says at face value but the mach 3 upper limit for the disater curses and the mid to high tiers of the series makes sense for jjk. Mach 500 is insanity😂. 6:30 jjk has a huge distinction between reactionary explosive speed and actual movement speed. It seems everyone caps at abt mach3 in movement speed. (Which is necessary to keep maki and toji relevant). But with CT some people can break that limit (Gojo, kashimo). But other characters use their reaction Time to match those upper speeds temporarily and not get blitzed (maki catching a bullet, Sukuna keeping up with gojo and kashimo, hakari dodging lightning). So every upper tier character can "easily" react to above mach 3 and move above mach 3 for short instances. Like you can sprint at 25mph but for a jog you won't go above 15mph.

Fairly big downplay on Gon within HxH scaling dude, he annihilates 2 ant officers on the level that required the phantom troop members to actually fight semi-seriously, and he took out multiple without taking any damage. Morel also thought that he would straight up die if Gon hit him with the Jajenken. Morel also scales to squad leaders like Zazan whilst nerfed, but was spooked by Gon. Killua blitzed and ripped a nen amped officer's head off without using god speed or anything, so Gon scaling to him in base (stated to be roughly equal in the databook) means he would unironically 1 shot almost all of the Phantom troup members aside from the top tiers like Hisoka, Chrollo etc. Basically chimera any gon is massively above his prior versions. There is a thing about speed that was ignored, which yeah, it shouldn't be here bcs it's a bit far, but it can let you see from another point of view. First of all, Gojo's speed feat in Shibuya, killing 1000 individuals in 299 second (almost 5 minutes without a second). And I think we can agree that, Yuji doesn't outspeed Gojo, not even in the recent chapters. In the other hand, he have Zeno's statement in YorkNew City arc, to the mafia. Of course, there wasn't more than 100 individuals. But, Zeno legit says it tooks him 7 seconds to clean them. Even if you put 1000 in that room, it will take 70 seconds. And adult Gon just outspeed Zeno, massively. I m not saying it should be a correct scaling, but, depends how you take it. Not only Togashi, but also Gege kinda fu**** up the scaling. Cursed Energy STRENGHTENS the body for protections just like Nen, so unlike the normal humans in HxH who have no defense sorcerers won't have the lack of defense problem. It's not no nen vs nen, it's normal human vs nen user in the show and that's where you got confused. Also, Uvo when wrapped around Kurapikas chains was in a state of complete Zetsu (no nen at all) and didn't even come anywhere close to dying when Kurapika attacked his body with multiple enhanced punches. Why? Because Uvo had a physical body so strong its defense could still defend him against Nen even when he didn't have Nen himself

I feel like this video heavily underestimated gon and I'll explain why. 1. Ap Jajanken is definitely higher than a 10x Amp as bisky stated that ken is a 10x Amp, and in gon's fight with genthru we see that his ken/ko infused punches were doing nothing to genthru but he got one shot by a Jajanken. As for the calc on bonolenov's Jupiter, it's been calced at 109 tons of tnt. This attack destroyed a chimera ant foot soldier, killua after getting rid of illumi's needle completely destroyed rammots head, keep in mind rammot had nen and was a higher rank than this random foot soldier meaning killua should scale to Jupiter and gon scales to killua. So gon should be hitting multi city block without Jajanken and with it should at least hit small town (Jajanken at the very least is a 10x multiplier). 2. Speed I feel like this is where you underestimated gon the most since hxh has some decent speed scaling. Here is a calc for base killua when him and gon first fought rammot. Killua = 755px/158cm (official height) Killua's arm = 197px = (197/755)*158 = 41.23cm Killua Lightning Pixel (Redone) Killua's arm = 20px/41.23cm Lightning = 644px = (644/20)*41.23 = 13.27606m While Killua DID move his arm 180°, the lightning didn't start traveling until more than halfway through, so I will use 60°. 60 ° = 1.0472 rad • Movement: 41.23 × 1.0472 = 43.176056cm, or 0.43176056m 13.27606/0.43176056 = 30.7486631016x slower than lightning. • Speed: 440000/30.7486631016 = 14309.5652174m/s, or Mach 41.72 (High Hypersonic) Gon was able to keep up with this killua, and they're heavily implied to be around the same speed pre godspeed.

Yuji's dealt with range before. Charging objects with ce and throwing them is simple but effective, he can throw rocks harder than 50 cal bullets since even haba(propeller head) tanked a 50 cal. That would hurt base gon.

Meruem would get negative-diffed, unless you're capping out Sukuna to 15F in Yuji's body. His Domain Expansion would probably be enough to drop Meruem. Malevolent Shrine could machine-gun slashes on him until he dies, which Dismantle actively scales to break the object it targets, based on the amount of CE necessary. Meruem's mind wouldn't even be a factor, since the only way to beat Malevolent Shrine is to fortify yourself. Even with Nen, that isn't enough, as even Gojo was getting broken down. If it comes down to peak versus peak, Meruem is done for, since we get a remix of Go/jo where there is no way for Meruem to Domain Clash as Nen is adapted to by Mahoraga. Heian Sukuna is apparently lightspeed, since he could press a character who controls all EM Phenomena, including light, killing him.

Iirc you claim him to be island level in another video but why are we just counting the island and not the oceans as well? I disagree that the creation of a mountain via domaon expansion translates as directly to AP as you state but nonetheless I do think Yuji has much higher stats than Gon due to how their stories settings works. Speed scaling in JJK is iffy if you take Gege's words as law but looking at other speed feats in the series it makes more sense for a lot of character to be well above speed of sound. If we take blackflash as described as an attack to the power of 2.5 things get crazy and don't always allign with what is portrayed in the series. wait, wait, wait a second. If we take Gon and Yuji and compare them physically at the beginning of the anime, given Gon's age, Gon with 4 years older would be able to stand up to him. Without it Yuji is probably superior. A black slash is comparable to a punch with the KO technique and not the Jajaken. If we equally compare NEN and CURSE ENERGY, in terms of the ability of both, Gon finds himself in a high diff position compared to Yuji. Gon in the Greed Island saga manages to obtain an excellent understanding of the basics of nen and fight with the use of KO, GYO, KEN and RYU. Now let's imagine that Yuji, assuming that he is actually faster than Gon, manages to hit him several times with a Black Slash but Gon can defend himself with Ken by also adding the physical resistance he has. What damage could it possibly do? Not zero, but not even much. Let's imagine Gon manages to hit Yuji with a blow using KO, where Yuji is unable to use energy to protect body parts as good as Gon, how much harm would it do to him? I think a lot. Now if we give Yuji a point in favor of speed compared to Gon, he might be able to block blows with his hands infused with curse energy, but the first mistake would cause a part of his body to fall off. Both are beasts with a natural gift for hand-to-hand combat. Another point against Gon is the Nen reserve, however not small, compared to Yuji's use of curse energy. If Yuji could hold his own until Gon's Nen ran out he would be the winner, but we're talking about hours. Otherwise Gon wins. For me it's a low diff, slightly leaning towards Gon. Adult Gon vs Yuji would be non-existent. The Ken or Ren or En, or a combination of them translating it to jjk would be equivalent to a Simple Domain. Think about it. Have fun.
