Met him in Canberra as a young dumb teen when he was out here on the 88 tour. Was great meeting a hero of mine as I grew up at that point having barely anyone I knew into such similar music. I religiously carried a discman and a CD wallet full of my fave albums at the time lol. He sat and chatted about punk and music with me and was humble and respectful, blew my mind he had the time for a chat. He had two casts on his wrists and still shredded for the crowd even taking one slam where he could only take the fall and impact on both elbows which he laughed off. Believe it was his birthday too. My mates and I ran to the local shop to fetch him a cake. Big ups Duffman! Big inspiration in more ways than skating for me. Most excellent dude.

I dj Tactics all the time :) amazing post punk stuff. I had an entire alternative Australian dj night before. It was a blast but most cunts out here don’t care about the brilliant bands of oz. my personal favourite stuff. It’s wild you remember the birthday. I turned 21 that day. A couple days prior in Sydney is when I took that first slam in the video. Broke three ribs, my arm and thumb. It was hard to be in oz fir two weeks with out being able to skate. I can remember talking punk rock with a local at a signing. Must be you. During those times there weren’t many of us skaters that truly cared about music and not fitting in. Thanks for this message.

Corey Duffel Cheers for the reply mate, I saw in either a video interview or written one where you were talking about a period of depression. Currently going thru a bad bout myself and really identified with what you said. Seeing you out there shredding with that huge smile after each trick gives me a shitload of hope I can beat this. I know we all have our bad times where we fall, seeing you have not disappeared like other pros and having an absolute blast doing your thing is keeping me going right now. I guess depression does not have to control you and anyone and everyone can win the fight. Thanks a lot for the reply

Depression sucks. Even Wyatt this video release I don’t feel pride in stuff I’ve done. Instead I watch it and go man I wish I things were different. But oh well. That ship has sailed. We can’t get stuck with stuff that we are ashamed of. Always gotta move forward. Before the days of cell phones and this social media garbage I never had such severe emotional swings. One negative comment from some kook can bring me down. But we have t remember. F that clown. They aren’t doing anything cool. Why let a fool bring me down. Gotta just take t day by day and have a good time. Get out and look at the clouds. Fly a kite. Something different than ordinary. Not be scared to change. I hope ya over come it. Mornings like this I am playing records and having tea and that helps out

Corey Duffel Yeah screw those normal kooks, same old same old ideas and group mentality to attack what is different. You stood out in a time I needed that inspiration. Seen plenty of pros change year by year with the fashions. You’ve always had yourself figured out. Must be real boring feeling safe and comfy following the herd. They think different people are weird and wrong. Better being “weird” than brain dead and obviously suffering their own insecurities. Not saying that they’re all wrong, everyone can do whatever they want to do, just speaking bout those judgemental fools and sheeple who believe their deluded herd mentality is the only way thru life. May be for some. Sadly seems a product of media, television or whatever to attack whatever is different. Trying everyday to say fuck the haters haha.

Great little piece on Duffel. Good soundtrack, nice to hear Suede in a skate film. Corey is a top 10 favorite skater of all time for me. Duffel went balls to the wall speed like Cardiel, took on many things that other skaters would not even dream of taking on and did it all with some great punk-mod-rocker influences.
